After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Members of the Prairie Dog Clan can be summoned one of two ways. Either by the standard method of summoning, or by using a Ninrisu Partner. In the latter case, the Ninrisu will put out a 'call' for assistance, and as it echos back home, the Prairie Dogs will appear one by one. While the latter method doesn't use any chakra, it takes far longer for the sounds to reach home. [5+ turns].
Prairie Dogs are separated into three categories. Scout, Delivery and Combat. Each has their own uses and weaknesses, and shall be outlined in their own sections. This overview is simply for the prairie dogs as a whole.
Due to this contract being split into three parts, the users will have their own preference for which 'tree' they wish to follow. It is possible to have access to all three summoning trees, but only members of the Subeta clan have access to them from scratch. Those outside the clan trained to use this summoning have to devote time and effort into learning to use each one.
It should be noted that each of the Prairie Dogs also possesses the 'Squirrelly Wrath' ability. Those who use this summoning contract must take care to have enough Lettuce leaves for all, or else run the risk of a meteor storm.
PLACE OF RESIDENCE
The Prairie Dogs live in the mountains along the southern shore of Kaze no Kuni, having dug thousands of tunnels to serve as decoys away from their true home. In the center of the mountain, there exists a tranquil meadow called The Keiken Sōgen, the Empirical Grassland. Hundreds of families of Prairie Dogs live there, without fear of their natural predators.
Prairie Dogs that belong to the Scout class are the smallest and thinnest out of their brethren. Members of the scout class are, on average, between 8 and 10 inches long, with 1.5 - 2 inch tails. They also weigh between 1.5 - 2 pounds. The scout class has light, tan fur covering their entire bodies. The tips of their tails are donned in white fur.
Members of the Scout class are among the most fragile and shy out of the entire grassland. As such, they are quick to scatter after receiving their orders. While they are mainly used for stealth, recon and intelligence-gathering, the more dangerous missions are left to their larger siblings. They are also the fastest of their siblings, able to reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour while running. Their small size also allows them to hide in places few would look.
Members of the Scout Class have focused their training in their speed and stealth abilities to be useful in recon. They use this trait at home to alert their families of any approaching dangers by using their calls, and then quickly legging it back home.
Members of the Delivery class are significantly larger than their Scout counterparts. Their fur is dark in color, with creme underbellies. On average, those of the Delivery class are anywhere from 10 - 12 inches long with 2 - 2.5 inch tails and can be from 1.5 - 2.5 pounds.
The most noticeable feature of a Delivery Class dog is that their cheeks have the most capacity out of the rest of the dogs. That is because a unique sealing formula has been embedded into their cheeks from birth. This formula allows them to store objects many times their size and act as messengers should the need arise. While this was originally used to allow them to transport large amounts of food, this ability has been modified to allow a prairie dog to slip a scroll into their mouths and carry it to their destination.
The slowest of the prairie dogs, the delivery dogs are often selfish and vastly overestimating of their own abilities. Many, but not all, are smug, self-centered and generally annoying. Still, they are invaluable on the battlefield and a must-have for any recon unit. While they exist for the good of the family, they take their jobs far too seriously. They will easily pick favorites, and need to be persuaded into following orders with plenty of snacks.
Members of the Delivery Class have special sealing formulas inscribed into their cheeks from birth. These seals give them a much larger cheek capacity, to the point where they can store things several times their size. The only way to remove an object from the seal is to touch it directly, which the prairie dog will do when retrieving said object. Since it is in their cheeks, they are technically not swallowing anything. Making them also immune to poisonous coatings.
This does not prevent the prairie dogs from eating, however, as using this ability is strictly voluntary. Both unsealing and sealing.
Rank: Partner - Dependent Elemental Manipulation: Doton or Fuuton
Unlike those who belong to the Scout or Delivery classes, the members of the Combat class do not have a uniform appearance. They are not bred to be workers or support, but are instead the rare dogs who possess chakra natures. Also, unlike other members of the Prairie Dog family, members of the combat path are unable to be summoned. After forming the contract, the user will receive a single Combat-path prairie dog to use as their familiar. This prairie dog is capable of channeling their elemental chakra, and is to be used in collaboration ninja arts.
Much like how their appearance differs, each member of the Combat class differs personality wise. Even though the summoner and their prairie dog are supposed to act as a team, it is possible for the two to disagree and refuse to work together. Some owners of this contract have been known to keep their prairie dogs as pets instead of partners.
The abilities of each familiar differ, and as such will not be listed in detail in this section.
