After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
They were almost done, then. Yuu shifted his grip on the armful of plants and accepted the notebook she offered. It would be interesting to look at. When she went off to gather, Yuu walked to the cliff, crouching and placing the pile safely at the junction where the cliff met the ground. There was no wind here; it would not blow away. They were meeting up back here and it would be cumbersome to carry it around with him. Flipping through the pages, Yuu wandered, crossing the pool once more to look at the opposite side as she did.
Yuu couldn't find a whole lot on the path he took. But he did find berries. Elderberries and blueberries to be precise. Pulling out his two empty jars from his bag, Yuu filled one with elderberries and the other with blueberries. He was about to leave when a pink flower deeper in caught his eye. Pausing to look at it, Yuu identified it. It was the Nerium Oleander, a very deadly herb. And one of the ones on the list. The medic frowned. Normally, one would wear gloves when handling this. Glancing around, Yuu spotted a burdock plant and fetched some of the large leaves. Withdrawing a shuriken from his hip pouch, the Kamizuru placed the cleave of it against the base stalk of the plant, using his foot to press the woody Oleandor down to the ground and prodice a bend at the bottom, which he sawed through with both sides of the throwing star
It took time, but avoiding touching the liquid that oozed Yuu managed to cut through the stalk and free the plant, abandoning the shuriken. From cutting the plant it was now laced in poison and he had no need to carry it. As long as the leaves weren't broken, Yuu could easily place the plant on a bed of burdock leaves, and he arranged them so he could wrap it. Burdock itself was edible as well, and grabbing a kunai, Yuu dug up the roots of the plant he took the leaves from, taking the whole plant with him, Oleander in the right hand, burdock in the left. Now it was time to go back.
Lein hadn't returned when Yuu did, and he crossed the pool a third time, stopping where he had placed the plants from before. Setting the Oleander several feet from the other herbs so as not to contaminate them in any way (Yuu had seen people die from oleander poisoning, he truly did not want to take chances), he focused on the burdock plant he'd brought, peeling the leaves from the root and moving to the edge of the pool to wash the dirt off of it. All of it was edible, but the leaves were bitter while the root was sweeter. The leaves would do well for the poultices Yuu was making, it can help purify the blood and cure minor poisoning, among other things. It would be a nice compliment to the oleander poultice.

CHAKRA | 99.9% WORD COUNT | 506 TAGS | Kumoro Lien ADDL. NOTES | dafuq is a tatar. Also. I'm questioning as to what Yuu is going to do with a mass of plants before he makes them into medicine. xD Also, didn't know you could boil water in pumpkins, that's pretty awesome. Also I have no idea what plants we have anymore.
More mibile poating! ~~~~~| When lien had returned she found Yuu taking care of the plants they gathered as well as other ones. The oleander was there as well. It made her smile. Most peopledidnt have the guts to fiddle with it and there was this boy looking as if he was used to it and had no care in the world. Yet looks can mislead and he was no doubt extra careful with it.
"I'll get us sime food now!" she called out anouncing both her arival and an unoficial rest coming up soon. Looking around her srounding she choose a dry spot and sug up a shallow hole about a foot in lenth. After putting rocks around it she added the wood into the hole. Two high branches were put in the ground on two diferent sides of the fire place and another branch on top of them above the wood. After a short time she was able to start the fire. Now was the time clean out the pumpkins she got. Cutting out the top she cleared out the inside if it and scatered the seeds all iver the place so they can grow the next year. Looking in the carved fruits she thought that they can be used as pots the way they are as they weren't totaly ripe and still a bit hard. Still, having them dry would be much better. Having no fast way of how to dry them fast, she came to the Iwa nin for an advice.
Yuu took the hollow pumpkin when Lien gave it to him, asking him if he knew if there was a way to dry it out to cook in. Frankly there were many ways to dry it out, but the quickest and easiest way would be through extracting the water. Sitting on the ground, Yuu crossed his legs and put the pumpkin on his lap, performing handsigns and sticking his hand inside of it and touching the bottom. With the pumpkin itself acting as a container, Yuu extracted the water in the entire husk over the course of several minutes, slowly filling the gourd with water from its own shell. When the entire pumpkin was dry, Yuu handed it back to her, the water from the shell sloshing inside of it.
“How's that?” he asked, pulling his bag up to withdraw the jars of berries he'd found and give them to her.
The girl was looking at Yuu with curiosity when he started performing seals wondering what is he about to do. The answer came soon after as she saw the water from the pumpkin drying out and filling in the hollow part. Taking it from him the girl was more than just sutisfied.
"It's perfect!" she answered him and handed him the second punmkin. "I had no idea you were a water element user. It's good to know, might be usefull." she said and after a sexond of thought added, "I myself am a wind element."

"It's perfect!" Yuu felt just a teensy bit smug. "I had no idea you were a water element user. It's good to know, might be useful. I myself am a wind element."
“I can also manipulate earth. I like to make mud; it's rather effective.”
Yuu's offensive ninjutsu could use work, no doubt, but that wasn't a priority. Yuu watched her prepare to cook, glancing over at the pile of herbs, the oleander especially. He wouldn't touch that one until later. It would probably be best to extract the fluids of the plant and use that; the oleander was so toxic that any water pulled out would have the chemicals in it as well, and it may well be the only way he could get the amounts small enough to make the poultice.
“What sorts of wind skills do you know?”
Fuuton had always been an interesting element to Yuu.

CHAKRA | 100% WORD COUNT | 150 TAGS | Kumoro Lien ADDL. NOTES | Wow I don't know what to do. Fuuton was going to be Yuu's third element at a later date.
"Mud is nice as long as you're not trying to make your way through a mudy area, then it's a true bother. The only two futon akills I know are stream and vacuum blade." the girl answered and took the second pumpkin as well as the jars of berries. "Lunch will be done soon." she said and made her way back to the fire.
Putting a long strong stick through the premade hols at the top of the pumpkins she hang them above the hot coil. After that she cleaned all the vegtables she found, cut them and added to the heating water. More that anything making sure to cut the potatoes into small bits, otherwise they won't cook well. When the water started to boil she took out the squirrel meat she got and cooked in the morning. Cuting it in bits but leaving the meat on the bones she put each animal into a different pumpkin. And covered the 'pots' with the parts she cut off in the very begining.
20 minutes after Lien covered her pots, a pleasant smell spread our implying that the stew was almost done. Trying it so see if it's good she realized that there was a faint aftertaste of pumpkin. Nit surprising if to take into account that the water uaed is juice from the pumpkins themselves. The nomad gave the stew a few mire minutes to cook before calling her companion out for lunch.

"Mud is nice as long as you're not trying to make your way through a muddy area, then it's a true bother. The only two Fūton akills I know are stream and vacuum blade." Yuu stared at her a bit blankly. That literally meant nothing to him. "Lunch will be done soon."
“Alright.”
Yuu took a kunai from his pouch, drawing the burdock plant closer and chopping off a good piece of the long, thin root. Pocketing the blade, he took the root to the water's edge, scrubbing the earth free with his fingers until he was satisfied. Pulling the kunai out again. He worked on carving the skin off, waiting until she called him to eat. When the soup was ready, Yuu cut the root roughly in half. It would be good in the stew and was a very healthy addition.
“Try this in your stew,” Yuu said, offering her half of the root. “Cut it up. It's burdock. It's rather sweet and very good for you. A lot of medics recommend it.”
Sitting cross-legged near the girl, Yuu took his offered pumpkin and berries, slicing the root into the soup. A lot of people liked to cook it, but a lot of people liked it raw, too. Yuu had learned to enjoy it raw, because he'd end up burning it anyway.

CHAKRA | 100% WORD COUNT | 223 TAGS | Kumoro Lien ADDL. NOTES | “Burdock root purifies the blood and helps restore the body to normal health by supporting the elimination of toxins by the lungs and kidneys. In alternative medicine, it is used to treat abscesses, acne, eczema, hives, and rosacea because of its skin-detoxification and hormone-balancing properties. Burdock root supports digestion by stimulating the liver to secrete bile, a key digestive function, and is an excellent source of potassium and inulin. Inulin is a helpful carbohydrate for both diabetics and hypoglycemics because it does not elicit rapid insulin production. Burdock root is also used in herbal formulas as an anticarcinogen (anticancer agent), a treatment for arthritis, a liver detoxifier, and for general kidney support.”
Taking yhe root from the boy l, Lien thanked him and chooped it into her portion. It added a nice punch to the hot stew. The berries were a nice dessert after it.
When the girl finiahed her food she cleaned the place and made aure the fire was completely off. Stretching heeself a little bit she gathered her things and waited for the boy to finish.
"We have only two more plants to get, the silver lilies and the crimson daisies. I believe that we can reach the area where I believe the daisies are at some point tomorrow morning l, depending on the weather." she told his as she waited for Yuu to get ready to leave. "looks like today will be a pleasant night." she said while looking up at the sky.
Yuu was glad she liked the root. It was a nice crunchy addition and tasted nice in the mix of flavors Lien had put in the stew. The elderberries were sweeter than he'd anticipated as well, and it was an all-around good meal.
"We have only two more plants to get, the silver lilies and the crimson daisies. I believe that we can reach the area where I believe the daisies are at some point tomorrow morning , depending on the weather.” Yuu looked at her with interest. "Looks like tonight will be a pleasant night.”
“Mhmm,” Yuu confirmed, agreeing with her. “This would be a nice place to stay, as well. Food is easy to find, there's water, and there's protection from wind with the cliff.”
The Kamizuru gazed over the rippling water pool. There was an area similar to this nearby Iwagakure, but this spot was much more beautiful. He looked back behind him to the pile of herbs, looking warily at the oleander. It wasn't that he couldn't make the medicine... it was just that his shishou advised him to not work with such deadly plants without supervision. It was less a concern of Yuu's skills and more of a safety precaution of the Iwagakure medics. If something went wrong—toxin from a plant getting into a cut, any number of things, really—then someone would be there to assist and keep disastrous results from happening. Yuu knew how to extract poisons and toxins from the body, but he wasn't so adept at the skill when using it on himself.
Setting the empty pumpkin aside, Yuu took the empty jars and went to the pool, rinsing dirt and berry juice from the insides, leaving one filled with water. Next he went to the pile of herbs, saving the oleander for last. Unlike the last time, there was no rock he could use as a table, and he set his mortar on the ground, tearing up bits of leaves into it, both of the i-don't-remember-the-herb-we-were-collecting and the burdock leaves, adding a bit of honey and water. The nice thing about poultices is that when you use more than one plant, it thickened the consistency as well as varying the ailments it soothes and heals.
When the boy offered to have the place for the night, the girl couldn't disagree. It was a good spot even if ahe would have liked to go more for the day so they have a shorter walk the next one.
"I agree, this place is good but it also means that we will have some extra distance for tomorrow. Not something I believe is a problem, it's going to add us about 2 or 3 hours of to the way depending on the ground and the weather." the ginger said and looked around. Choosing a large tree near the water she climbed on top of it. When she was up she started tying her blanket, which she used as a door the day before, between them in a way that resembled a hanged bed. She never had a problem sleepinh when it was windy and having a higher spot had the benefits of avoiding unwanted company while asleep.
" I would advice you to sleep on a tree or by the fire. This is a spot where many animals pass by and it has a high chance to attract predators, snakes amd other creatures you won't want to find on you when you wake up." she told him and jumped down from the tree once she was done. " I can help make you a nice bed up" point at a different tree "there. If you want of course. Then we'll go place the traps."

"I agree, this place is good but it also means that we will have some extra distance for tomorrow. Not something I believe is a problem, it's going to add us about 2 or 3 hours of to the way depending on the ground and the weather. ”
“I don't mind extra distance if it means a good place to stay.”
Yuu watched with curiosity as the girl took her things and scaled one of the trees, curiosity intensifying as she took her blanket and tied it among the branches.
"I would advise you to sleep on a tree or by the fire. This is a spot where many animals pass by and it has a high chance to attract predators, snakes and other creatures you won't want to find on you when you wake up. ”
Predators and snakes...
“R-right...”
"I can help make you a nice bed up there. If you want of course. Then we'll go place the traps. ”
Yuu looked to the tree she pointed at.
“Please.”
As the girl helped him tie the blanket awkwardly in the second tree, Yuu glanced over to the pile of herbs on the ground he needed to finish making into poultices.
“How about I stay here and finish making the medicine? There are a lot of herbs and I don't want it to get dark before I finish. I'll make it up to you tomorrow and go hunting. How's that sound?”
Afyer the two were done fixing a bed for Yuu among the branches of a tall tree. Lien offered to go show him.hiw ti place the traps but he refused. The medic still had to take care of the jib he was hired to do and the ginger nomad had no intention of botherring him with it. Ahe wanted her medicine as high quality as possible so she let the boy do what he wanted to do.
Looking around the girl found a few places that seemed good for placing the traps. Taking care of it didn't take much time. On the way back she remembered that a part of the pond under the waterfall was hidden behind a high wall of rocks. It was their thurd day travling and shw still didn't take a bath.
Coming back to camp she started a fire between the trees they used for beds. Comimg close to Yuu Tiarra climbed of of Lien and placed herself beside the boy. "I'm leaving her to keep an eye on you while I take a bath. And I'll leave clones around just in case. Don't get any funny ideas. Oh and iff you hear the traps snap, Tiarra will take you to the traps to colect the food if I'm not back yet." with thise words the girl went a way. A distance of about 50m from him it could be seen as she created a shadow clone.
Comminv to the isolated part if the pool the girl created two more clones. One to stand on top of the wall and look around, the other to patroll around the area. If something was to happen, the clones will disapear, whenever they were hit or not, and she will know it. Feelibg confident she undressed and got into the water.
"I'm leaving her to keep an eye on you while I take a bath. And I'll leave clones around just in case. Don't get any funny ideas. Oh and if you hear the traps snap, Tiarra will take you to the traps to collect the food if I'm not back yet."”
“Alright.” '
“Funny ideas,” indeed. Yuu watched the direction she went before heading over to his herbs. A bath sounded great, and he'd love to have a wash in the pool here while she was gone, but with the clones the girl left, Yuu didn't want to take that chance. He'd have to wait until later. That was one reason he liked traveling alone, even if skill-wise it was counter-productive. It was okay when he was with people he trusted, but there were so few people he trusted that secret with, and even then...
Yuu worked on the plants, grinding them together and slowly filling the jars. He didn't quite have enough jars for the plants needed, but he had other containers, and perhaps Lien had some. Hopefully she did, because the oleander needed its own container entirely, and they weren't even done collecting plants yet.
About ten minutes in, Yuu heard a trap snap somewhere, and he looked up. Out of somewhere the tarantula appeared, and although he was rather hesitant about the creature, the medic dipped his hands in the pool to wash plant bits off, wiping the water on his pants and following the spider.
When the pair reached the trap, Yuu found a rabbit inside. Trying to retrieve it proved difficult, as Lien had not taught him how to open it and retrieve the prize. Prying it open with one hand, Yuu carefully pulled the crushed rabbit upward out of the trap. Unsure of whether he should reset it or not, Yuu realized he didn't have bait anyway, and pulled the trap out. Carrying the rabbit by its ears, he and Tiarra returned to the site. They ought to start working on making camp. The spider was actually quite useful.
The water was not as cold as Lien thought it would be. It still was far from warm. When already in the water the girl found a clean rock the size of her palm to use as instead of a sponge and rub off dirt, mud and dust off of her skin. Cutting the bath short she used her wing skills inorder to dry her hair as much as she could. Bringing her hair in front if herself and blowing air at it. [wind release: stream] Summoning weeker wind that she would usually do when fighting or training she blew of the bits of water from her hair and skin drying most of it.
Where the girl came back to camp she dis not see Yuu or Tiarra around. There was a soft silver spider web on the ground leading deeper into the woods. This ment that a trap has worked and they went to retrive the loot. She sat by the dying down fire and added branches to it to bring it back to live again. A few minutes later the two missing companions returned with Yuu caring a dead rabbit I. One hand and the trap used in the other.
Yuu admitted he was relieved when Lien was back at camp by the time he returned. He gave her both the rabbit and the trap.
“You can probably start working on this, I'll go take a bath as well.” He then pointed to the herbs he'd had to stop grinding. “If you have any containers I can use to continue placing herbs in, that would be great. When we return to the village, we can go to the pharmaceutical and I can make some of these into pills for internal consumption. I kind of took this job on a whim, so I don't quite have everything to make anything but poultices at the moment. As long as it stays sealed in the containers, I can easily convert them into more convenient methods of administration.”
Grabbing his belongings from where he'd left them, Yuu trekked out in the direction Lien went. Unfortunately, Yuu had never been interested in learning the bunshin jutsus, and he couldn't make one to keep a lookout. Instead, Yuu summoned his bees once he reached the river. If anyone came nearby, the bees would incapacitate them. Finally feeling secure, he removed his belongings.
Cold water wasn't exactly the medic's favorite way to bathe, but it was refreshing all the same. If Yuu had been alone, he'd likely had stayed at the river much longer to enjoy swimming a little more. But being gone too long might cause her to look for him, plus it would be rude to keep her waiting. Yuu didn't want either of those options, so finished washing when he felt as clean as he could get, extracting the cold water from his hair. Yuu was a tad bit superstitious about leaving hair wet; getting a cold once from it was enough for him.
Dispelling the bees, Yu dressed and gathered his belongings, returning to camp and musing way s he cold do more things with the herbs with the materials he had with him.
