After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

As his friends managed to dodge his attack, well Maou did while saving Mr. Damsel in Distress only to be hit with a lecture and insults. "Well sorry, I just popped in and you said something about a fight so I thought we were having an all out brawl." If anything they probably should have been a bit clearer, but whatever.
He listened to Mao's little threat and offer for turning the fight into a two vs one match with the taijutsu specialist against Okami and Yuu, seemed like a fair match up considering Yuu looked like he was missing a few essentials Okami knew the guy wouldn't leave without. "Alright, so let me get this straight, its just me and Yuu tackling you Mao-san? Simple enough, you can take the first move Yuu-kun since you two were training." the blonde said with a smile as he walked over to Yuu's side and stood a step behind him.
Yuu swallowed, pulling into the stance Maou had shown him to stand in, visually hesitant about this whole situation. He gave a slight nod of acknowledgment when Okami moved behind him, allowing Yuu the first move. May as well get the “party” started, as Okami had so eloquently put it. Taking a deep breath, Yuu looked over his opponent. Openings he knew to look for were pointless, long-range archery and close-range fighting were nothing alike. On top of that, Yuu knew that if Maou even left an opening, it would be an intentional one. And that wasn't something the musclehead was going to offer them.
“Here goes.”
There would be pain either way, may as well choose when it comes. Dashing towards Maou, Yuu aimed for the torso, using the punch Maou had been showing him how to do.

Yuu had started the charge and Okami was ready to back him up once again, this time with the same attack he had used just a moment ago. Forming another volley of ten pink crystal shuriken Okami sent them flying towards Maou, only this time he moved them to his will so that they would come from behind Yuu as he made his attack, let's see how well the great Taijutsu specialist dealt with this combo.
"I see so Okami wants to fight that way does he... guess I can't hold back against him then, since he wishes to show all his moves, but Yuu... I'll take extra care to not try to kill ya."
Said as Okami began forming his own handseals and after they were finished, Maou didn't let his words phase him out of the dangers of the crystals. Okami was a mid-range to long-range fighter depending on how he used his abilities, but was more common for his mid[-range capabilities. Their team was made up for versatility and variety, and in any situation could be used to defend and attack in multiple situations should the need arise. Especially with the sniper capabilities which Yuu showcase quite a bit of skill in technical expertise as well as deciding which to use in the right situation. He made his own stance, his orthodox stance was calm, and quick, as the shuriken closed in, he dodged by strafing and rotating his hips and upperbody to dodge them with the smallest amount of movements possible. It was a normal thing for him, waste no movement, and conserve your energy. But then Okami leaped behind Yuu for whatever reason, was he scared to fight him up-close, of course he was, but that wasn't the point.
Yuu was weaker in terms of defense and durability than Okami, which was why he sniped and used a coordination of traps in the first place. For Okami to show this cowardice instead of trying to protect Yuu, it kind of got on Maou's nerves, grating through his head. He and Okami were so different from one another. Yes he showed a thrill for combat, but also understood that thoughtfulness was also a precursor to a battle. Either way, Okami was definitely the more dangerous of the two, one good punch should subdue him, maybe a few more if his training took off well enough. But they had only been doing that for a few days, so nothing much would come from that thought.
"Okami, you're starting to piss me off..."
Anyway, without a second thought, he shifted his right leg, turning on his heels axis, and with a burst of strength from those powerful legs, rocketed towards Yuu without a second thought. His eyes were clear, as his dash came to a screeching halt using his big toe ad foots bottom scraping the ground. But it wasn't in front of Yuu, no, he would save that moment, switching his footing to strike with multiple sharp jabs towards Okami through various points of his body aiming greatly at his torso in order to gain the upper hand against him first, as he would be the most troublesome. Yuu would have to wait, and take his ass-whooping later after all. For he was the weakest and he only just started his training. Anyway, with this momentum, and seemingly understanding the mechanics of this shuriken technique Okami used thanks to both firsthand experience while on the battlefield, and thinking in obvious terms that Okami would consider, he knew that the shuriken were possibly still coming for him while he gave chase to this "wolf". It wouldn't deter him though, not in the slightest.
Maou was looking down on him, wasn't he? “Extra care not to kill you.” Yuu knew he was the weakest link in this sort of fight but it pissed him off nonetheless. Naturally, when Yuu went to thrust the punch and hit nothing but air stumbling, that did nothing to help it, and he whipped in time to see the taijutsu user assault Okami, whom had been behind the medic. Learning how to dodge helped when it came to changing your direction quickly, but it did nothing to save him the trip of pulling a 180 to keep Maou in his visuals. Damn that was harder to do close-up.
“Grr...”
Regaining his sense of balance, Yuu launched toward his friend's back while he was occupied with Okami, seeing if his right fist could connect with the mass of brown hair on the male's skull.

"Tch..." Maou was quick and managed to not only dodge his attack but also Yuu's and was not heading towards Yuu for a counter attack, or so it seemed. Releasing his handseals he prepared another one as he saw the brunette spin on his feet and come towards him. "Oh know you don't!" Slamming his hands onto the ground Okami pulsed his chakra into the earth and out popped a solid wall of earth between him and Maou which provided him enough cover to plan his own counter attack while Yuu drew his focus.
So a wall was between him and Okami. The force of his punch slamming against the wall of solid earth was rending much like tissue paper in water, as it broke up from said impact Yuu was coming for him as well, which meant he was either backed into a corner or he would need to make a counter himself. Not one to be outdone so easily, he pressed his advantage of surprise, using Yuu's momentum against him. Okami was already gone, not that it mattered, there was only so much he could gain from running away and hiding, and Maou was going to catch him. But he had to worry about Yuu for now. Leading Yuu to consider his steps he would dodge the strike with his form moving into the ground with his legs springing to let him hit nothing but air.
Not only that, but as he came, Maou had also led his back to forcefully strike into Yuu's stomach with his shoulders by falling backwards himself right at the instance Yuu would recognize the mistake he made. Maou, if the strike would hit, would use his elbow's spike and drive it towards the base of his neck, but hesitation had set in. That would be far too dangerous in a battle like this, and could possibly break Yuu's neck which wasn't good. So he stopped it abruptly, which would possibly give Yuu his own ability to counter strike because as he did stop the hesitation could be seen quite easily.
If Yuu didn't notice, a clumsy step backwards would make him fall towards the debris from the wall he had destroyed earlier and almost fell, watching Yuu with a frown. Maou didn't like this, he had to remember that if he placed too much force into his blows, he could end his comrades lives, that wouldn't be good. Calming down and focusing on restraint would be his entire problem in this battle as he never had a battle where he held back before. That grimace on his face stayed as he moved back into his orthodox stance, taking his feet into hopping motions.
"Watch closely, Yuu, watch my footwork and try to imitate the small shifts in weight..."
He was teaching even while in this battle, he would get Okami for this... The fucking coward.
The idea of actually landing a blow was too good to be true as Yuu's fist went through nothing but air. As usual, Maou didn't give Yuu a chance to react to the movement, and he barely registered the larger male springing backwards, shoulder colliding with his stomach, forcing the air from Yuu's lungs. With a gasping wheeze, the Kamizuru managed to turn his head, one lavender eye seeing Maou aiming an elbow right at his neck. There was some evident hesitation, but in those very few moments Yuu had no idea how to counteract and was unable to dodge when it hit, knocked into the debris of the wall Okami had made before.
Yuu bit back a curse, stumbling on the crumbled earth and turning to get Maou back in his sights. Always keep your eye on the target and don't look away. Predict the path they take and act accordingly. Simple enough in theory but it was a lot fucking harder when the triple digits between him and his target were not in yardage but in mere inches. From afar, the enemy moved in slow-motion, from up close, Yuu could barely see Maou's movements. In one sense, that made Maou the best teacher to come to. At the same time, Yuu knew better than to complain over a blow to the gut; there would be a lot more harder and painful blows to come.
"Watch closely, Yuu, watch my footwork and try to imitate the small shifts in weight..."
“Right,” Yuu replied, eyes dropping to the ground. Stand on the balls of the feet and bounce around. Yuu kept an eye on the opponent on a whole, not wanting to be taken by surprise being distracted trying to copy the footwork. It did make him feel a bit more mobile to move this way. But now what?
a man might befriend a wolf, even break a wolf, but no man could truly

So much for his cover, seeing the remains of his precious wall made the realization of how strong Maou was click in the blonde's head, plus seeing Yuu get overtaken like that was also a useful reminder. It also didn't help that Maou seemed focused on trying to play teacher to Yuu, well help for Maou in any case as Okami saw his moment and quickly did a small set of handseals. "This is still two versus one Maou-san, so you better be mindful of both your opponents!" The blonde wolfboy yelled as large crystal scythe like claws materialized on both of his arms and he jumped over Yuu aiming to bring one of his claws down on Maou.
"When doing a punch, you relax yourself, poise yourself and punch forward by letting it release with the least amount of effort..."
There he was, coming over with his hit-and-run tactics, so this would be the lesson he considered. Okami was many things, but predictable in combat could be an example of what he truly was. For being such a "wolf" he surely didn't think like one. For example, leaping within mid-air especially with someone as dangerous as Maou already understanding that anything within his surroundings could be dangerous, while also already being poised in his stance was a huge no. Not only did Okami need to learn how to take a proper punch, he needed to stop running into traps so easily as well. Maou would show him why this was the case.
"...And as it's thrown, the strike comes naturally with its full power."
A quick side step to the right as he was falling through the unwieldy movement of leaping in mid-air and striking down with his claws would lead to Maou readying himself. A shift in his person, his legs spread as his hips would rotate inwardly, and his right fist would be poised. Basically, if gestures could express the moment in question. Payback time was nigh. He rotated his hips, crossing forward with a lashing punch, fast with the extreme force and pressure of his fist also twisting within the wind. And just like he said, the attack was fast, it had force, and it was capable of defeating most opponents once done. Well almost most opponents, as shinobi were opponents often as crafty as the smartest predators themselves, always having a back-up strategy in question. But Okami wasn't like that, and time and again Yuu often told Okami to mix up his strategies, but it seemed he liked to run forward and ask questions later. A mistake.
And if he wasn't caught by that punch, what would come next but a combination of a strike from his legs. A great combination that through the exchange of levering his right fist and chambered and in the moment his fist was full chambered and back to its defensive position, a left leg looking to kick his torso would come to say hello to his torso as well. He made extra sure to use the rotation of said lever of motion to rotate his entire body, because within that pin-point moment, he readied himself with a back-kick shifting his weight into the back of his leg to strike right at Okami's face. And if one or more of those would hit, that sweet combination would land a quote. A sort of expression from the taijutsu expert himself.
"Never use your friends as shields..."
It was calm, but the grit of anger still followed, as he performed the simultaneous combo of three moves.
a man might befriend a wolf, even break a wolf, but no man could truly

His attack had missed and he could see the punch coming yet he couldn't do anything to react to it other than take it full force. The fist connected which lead into a combination from his teammate that left the boy's body in pain and Okami soon found himself on the ground with one hell of a headache. "Ow... That was... a weak punch! Now hold still all...four of ya." the blonde said as he got on his hands and knees rubbing his head and looking at the direction of his two teammates while seeing double of both of them all while trying to form handsigns and failing.
"When doing a punch, you relax yourself, poise yourself and punch forward by letting it release with the least amount of effort..."
Yuu nodded, absorbing the information. But the sentence was cut off by the second male charging, the sharp sound of crystal forming around his arms. Yuu recalled seeing it once before, but not the name of the jutsu.
"This is still two versus one Maou-san, so you better be mindful of both your opponents!"
“Idiot!”
Damn mutt. Yuu didn't even move a hair from his position, knowing he could do nothing to help and end up making it worse.
"...And as it's thrown, the strike comes naturally with its full power," Maou said, finishing his sentence.
Sorry Okami, a learning experience is a learning experience. Yuu bounced backward, not wanting to stay close to the two males once Okami's sanguine blades pierced the earth in their missed arc, Mao fluidly dodging and colliding his fist into the blonde skull, followed up by a series of painful-looking kicks, if the grunts of the wolfling had anything to say about it.
"Ow... That was... a weak punch! Now hold still all...four of ya."
Yuu stared blankly at the fumbling Okami, who shouldn't even have been able to get back on his feet so quickly after so many heavy blows, then back to Maou, who spoke again.
"Never use your friends as shields..."
Yuu knew better to think that Maou was defending him. It was merely an ideal that the taijutsu user felt should be followed. But a deep-set hesitation flooded him when Okami went down and the brunette turned to look back to Yuu. 'Hesitation on the battlefield kills.' Chinatsu-sensei's voice flooded his mind.
“Yeah, yeah, I know...”
Muttering to himself, Yuu took a step forward, trying to get that feel of the footwork Maou was using. Taking a deep breath and trying not to look at his pulverized teammate, Yuu pulled his arms in as was shown and dashed toward Maou. Rather than aim a wild punch, he'd try dodging Maou's attack around the side as he'd seen the male do to Okami and tag him in a counterattack.
Maou had changed his hands as they were set. His poised form as he spread his arms watching Yuu as he struggled to stand. It was good to see that this "learning" thing was going so well. But he really wished to say something to Yuu in order for him to understand. His eyes scanned on Yuu as he heard an abrupt movement from him, and with a dash forward he came after him without hesitation. Good job, Yuu. Or so he thought. But this wouldn't stop him from speaking.
"Rule one, never leap in the air if your opponent is grounded unless..."
Yuu had came at him from his right side, as the punch came, Maou didn't dodge it with a wild movement, but instead it was through bobbing his head backwards, his chest and upper body followed, as the strike would came. But Yuu was learning though, great form. Maou who had seen Yuu's extended arm, grasped it as he kicked his right foot straight into the males left leg, slinging the males arm over his shoulder in one fell swoop if he was caught, he would then throw him towards Okami.
"... Your opponent is indisposed and cannot understand your planning, and even then, be very cautious of what may happen next, though a leaping strike is powerful due to gravity, a stab into your chest with a kunai hurts when you're dropped from mid-air right on top of it, don't you think."
Maou had crossed his arms, smiling a bit. He wasn't upset anymore, actually this was quite fun for him. Both of them seemed to not understand the concept of teamwork though, doing their own thing. No wonder so many of their missions went out of tune, they forgot the simplest thing in the book.
"Come on guys, just like he just said, this is TWO on one, you both have skills useful for battle, and both of you have greater range than I do."
Expressing in a minute sense of fatherly influence, though he wasn't even close to a father, he would say this with as much respect for them as possible.
"You guys are being idiots, fight back like I know you can, or take more knuckle sandwiches and become my punching bags, whichever one is fine for me, this isn't even a workout... Yuu you should focus on using that footwork when I get close to you, place your arms together in the fashion of an x, and then harden your muscles with as much strength as you can if I punch you, and Okami, even in our last training sessions you have just been leaping into fights instead of thinking, use your head more, you are a "wolf" correct? Wolves are very intelligent creatures, all you're doing is making them look like idiots, fight with all your strength and you will succeed, I am only one man after all."
Maou was speaking, but not to Yuu. Not that Yuu had a chance to listen (once again) as Maou grabbed the extended arm before the medic could even pull back. And, once again, Yuu found his center of gravity demolished as well as sharp pain in his shin as his legs were knocked out from under him then lifted in the air completely.
“Waah!”
Then, he was airborne. Landing heavily on his teammate, both of them groaned on the ground, listening to Maou's scolding.
"Come on guys, just like he just said, this is TWO on one, you both have skills useful for battle, and both of you have greater range than I do."
Rather than getting off of Okami, Yuu kept him down, listening to Maou. He was right. They needed an actual plan and couldn't go willy-nilly attacking aimlessly.
“Fall back,” Yuu hissed in Okami's ear, rolling off and to his feet, distancing himself from Maou and hoping Okami would follow.
“One of us needs to distract,” Yuu said, “and the other do the actual attack. Face it, I'm the weakest of us, so it'll need to be me as the bait.” There was a moment of silence. Yuu had no idea what openings to look for. A self-sacrifice might work. It wasn't ideal, but they needed something to land an attack. “I'll charge in again and jump on him. Stay close behind me and slide under to sweep at his legs when I jump.”
It wouldn't be a leap or anything, more like a tackle. But if Okami was close enough behind and did a sweep, then maybe, maybe something could happen. Shaking off the tang of pain still in his leg, Yuu dashed forward at his opponent again, preparing to launch against his upper torso once he got within a few feet of Maou. It would probably earn him another throw, but as long as one of them got a blow in, that was what mattered.

He tried rubbing the pain away and as he looked to see how Yuu was faring he was soon met with his friend landing on top of his back causing the wolf to let out a squeal of pain. "My back..." As he tried to regain himself even while under his friend he heard the plan that Yuu was talking about, it seemed good enough, after all he was sure Maou wouldn't expect actual teamwork at this point of the fight. Once Yuu got off of him Okami forced himself up and followed right behind Yuu in his charge against Maou. Once Yuu made his move Okami slipped to the right of him and ducked down and delivered a sweep with his leg against Maou's own legs.
