After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
They were finally working together now, after such a long speech and so much boredom in this fight, he wished that they would just get on with it already. It seemed that Yuu was practicing good form though, and took the initiative to attack as the vanguard instead of being Okami's shield. That was fine to him, at least he agreed to it, otherwise Okami would get far worse than he'd gotten before. Big claps for him all around, the imaginary ones he should say, but now it was on to the scenario in question.
So they were trying a pincer move it seemed, using Yuu's dashing ability and taking into account Okami's striking from below, as the tackle came. Maou had smiled a bit, he wouldn't let it be that easy for them, not in the slightest. With this charge, he attacked Yuu with a lashing jab with a twist of the wrist, moving to collide with Yuu's face. As Okami came, he attacked with a sudden hop, the sliding motion being dodged. This was how you used gravity, Okami. The short hop would be made to drive straight into the males torso as his left foot smashed it inward stepping against it, if it weren't dodged completely.
Using the moment of impact on the sliding motion, he would use a left front kick towards Yuu's stomach to send him packing, and from that use his right leg and kick Okami away as he crossed his arms.
"That was too simple for a tactician, do something a bit more complicated, yeah?"
Good effort though, at least they were trying something together instead of just moving in from different directions at random. But still, he wished to see the abilities Yuu could come up with and think up in such short notice. They weren't beating him in close combat, he had at least five times their experience, and the abilities that would lead to his utter victory. He was still holding back as well, because should this have been a real battle, Maou would have smashed Okami's skull in with his first landed punch, and Yuu should have died from that elbow that almost collided with his neck. They had abilities that they could use to impede his advance, why weren't they using them?
Yuu sucked breath in heavily with his teeth, clenching his jaw when he saw the fist coming. There just wasn't time to react to anything with this guy. Yuu managed to duck his head so the knuckled collided with the steel of his headband rather than the face, but was helpless to guard against the kick to the gut, and the medic got sent flying away, colliding painfully on the ground this time with no meatsack teammate to cushion the fall. This pain was a lot worse, but as soon as the breath returned to his lungs, Yuu yelled loudly above the ringing in his skull.
“OKAMI, DO IT NOW!”
Naturally that fell down to the wolfling responding quickly to the improv, but it should create confusion just long enough to run through the handsigns. Twisting his body, Yuu spewed mud along the ground, scraping to get to his feet. Even though he came here to use taijutsu, it was becoming glaringly obvious that neither he nor Okami were going to be allowed to use that as a tool to win. Yuu felt naked without his bow or weapons; he stupidly did not expect, therefore prepare, for a full-on team spar in this lesson. But then, Yuu hadn't had his bow for a couple weeks anyway. Once on his feet, Yuu went through more handsigns, slamming his hands on the ground once away from the place he spat the mud.
“Earth spears!”
On cue, large spikes of earth burst from the ground, in a straight-line attack towards the taijutsu expert.
Mud from Mudhole technique sinks into the ground. It will take five or six minutes for the effects to begin, where the ground will start getting soft then eventually you guys would start to sink in it, the center point being where the original mud hit the ground and therefore the deepest area. If I can judge the time passing properly through our posting I'll update where it should be in terms of muddiness. xD From what I can recall of the spikey jutsu they can get up to like seven feet tall and stick out at odd angles but the attack only goes in a straight line. I don't know how far it goes, but it's mid-range. Close enough to hit Maou if he doesn't move.

Closest damn thing I have to gear at the moment is Chūnin vest and headband. Vest doesn't have anything in it that can contribute to the fight.

The level of skill and experience between Okami and Mao was very spread apart as he watched and felt the older boy's foot drive itself right into his gut before receiving another one that send him rolling away and clutching his stomach and trying to catch his breath. That's when he heard Yuu's call for him to make a move as he was also countered and began launching his own counterattack consisting of that old mud trap and doton spears. With a nod Okami did a quick set of seals and took a deep breath before releasing a jet of rushing water alongside Yuu's attack.
That was a great strategy if you were just a genin, but these were Chūnin. He would have rationalized that Yuu would have considered his actions more carefully, but it seemed he didn't thus he went on the rant. It was short lived though, Maou was going on and on as they were waiting, and Yuu had made a great strategy come true. Using two techniques and interlinking them together, that was advanced because one needed to have great timing with their skills. Yuu had specialized in earth techniques, so it was to be considered that the technique would come from the ground, except Maou was made wrong.
Okami added his own water style technique to the mix, increasing the force of the stones, had made them even greater in difficulty to dodge. He used a few backsteps to dodge the first few spears but was blasted by the water and almost fell into the mud before grasping one of the spears in his hands using the force it generated to pull himself from the mud. That force, transitioning him to make an acrobatic movement. The stickiness of the mud as it came over his pantaloons, it felt embarassing that he would rant like this, letting his guard down. Still, he didn't wish to go so far as to attack without a plan, he still needed to hold back his strength, otherwise the risk of killing would be far too great.
He leaped in front of the muddied landscape, that began to pull in whatever was at its topmost layer, the water style technique was only speeding up the process. Maou had almost slipped from running because the uneasiness of the muddied underside of his shoe. He went to leap at a nearby stone, using it to balance himself and almost slipping as he went towards another large structure of rock to completely bypass the dangers that would be this dangerous technique. Making one last leap into the air, he crossed his legs in mid-flight and sat on top of the rock structure.
"Great job you two, but that won't be enough to stop me!"
In reality, Maou wasn't too sure. As he said earlier, if they worked together, they complimented their own skills well. He was their vanguard, but they were the cannoneers and marksmen of the operation. He couldn't just go on without properly defending against their techniques. He needed to stop holding back as much and get serious.
Thank god Okami grabbed the hint, adding a water blast to the mix. The sheer amount of water would speed up the process of his Mudhole exponentially. Unfortunately, Maou was familiar with Yuu's technique, and fled to solid ground. Something would need to be done about that.
"Great job you two, but that won't be enough to stop me!"
He was right, of course. But here's hoping. Maou was close range. Yuu and Okami just needed to stay in the mud. That would prove more difficult for the wolfling; Yuu needed to get around to teaching him this jutsu some time. Using it together would be more beneficial, as well.
“Okami, destroy all the solid ground!”
Putting his hands together and running through the signs once Okami began his attack, Yuu dropped and put his fingers in the mud, waiting for Maou to land before throwing a river towards the older male.
Because of Okami-kun's water attack, it speeds up my mudhole jutsu. If there was a lot of water, it will get pulled into the ground and there should be an inch or two of mud almost immediately at the epicenter of the pit. The jutsu works by pulling water from the ground on up, so when the surface water from Okami's attack meets with the ground water below, the mud will get deeper more quickly. It also expands out pretty wide depending on how wet the ground is.
The river bottom jutsu moves the mud and allows it to be directed where Yuu wishes, but it stays on the ground.

The team attack had worked, somewhat, and now it seemed the perfect time to use some big tricks as Yuu had told him to do so.. "I'm on it!" Okami said as he slammed his hand onto the earth that was still untouched by the mud. Pink crystals formed and flowed from his hand crawling onto the earth and began building up on itself until a great dragon was constructed with it and it roared before taking flight as Okami climbed on top of it. This was one of his most special techniques that he had learned ever since he gained knowledge of his bloodline "gift" and was one he never had really used often. He was sure that this would get the job done and be the finishing move in this fight.
"Hope you like the taste of mud Mao-san!" the wolfboy yelled as his dragon did a loop into the air and soared right above the mud and headed straight for the earth that the taijutsu user was sat upon, its maw open as it was ready to clamp down on both rock and flesh with its rider sharing a grin that had a hungry and killer intent on it. The blood inside of him boiled with excitement, they had managed to knock him back and that was such a good feeling! "I sure wonder how good raw Mao tastes!"
