After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

"Heiki-san, c-can I touch your tail?"
The aforementioned tail twitched in protest at the thought. Most touches on his tail were ones intended to pull. But the girl had proven more polite than he was used to. He should offer the same to her. Raising the flexible appendage, he thwacked the child in the forehead with the flat of the spade, allowing it to land in her lap.
Mika flinched when the spade of his tail smacked her in the forehead. Oh, had she offended him by asking? When the tail landed in her lap, however, she realized that he wasn't mad, and barely refrained from making a childish squeal of delight.
She reached out and gently brushed her hand against the dark maroon fur that covered part of his tail. It was mostly rough, but also a little bit soft, and she stroked it like she stroked the stray cat that hung around their backyard sometimes.
Mika looked up at the horned man. "Thank you for letting me touch it, Heiki-san," she chirped, grinning.

Heiki's tail twitched when she reached to stroke the fur, and he closed his eyes, waiting for her to be done. He hadn't willingly let anyone touch his tail in a long time. People were mean and liked to pull, and the feeling of getting your spine yanked on wasn't exactly pleasant.
"Thank you for letting me touch it, Heiki-san,"
His chocolate eyes cracked open, turning to look at her.
“No big deal,” he said, even though it was kind of a big deal that he'd let her. “If my good deed of the day is letting a kid pet me, I'm not going to complain.”
The faun tapped his heels on the ground. Standing on tip-toes meant long legs, and it was most comfortable to rest the ankles on the ground when sitting. Crossing one leg over the other, he examined her, waiting for the next move.
Mika eyed him for a long moment and then hugged him, arms hooking around his neck. "You're so cool, Heiki-san. I wish I was cool like you," she informed him, snuggling up to him the way she did when she hugged her father.
Eventually she realized that he might not appreciate a little kid just up and hugging him out of the blue, and released him, inching back over to her part of the bench, face red. She looked up at him with her big wide eyes, wondering what he was going to say.

Heiki went absolutely rigid when the girl hugged him, one foot raised off of the ground to get away from her. But she was just a child, and he resisted the urge to throw her back. His foot dropped with a sharp sound as he tried to relax, waiting for her to finish, the staring turning into a contest when it did.
And she turned as red as a ripe tomato, hands covering her face. "I-I'm sorry!" she squeaked, mortified. If she'd known he was going to react like that, she wouldn't have done it at all. "I-I promise I won't do it again."
Indeed, she moved a couple more inches down the bench and turned sideways, pulling her knees up to rest her chin on them, and peered at him.

She seemed to really regret it afterward, and by the shade of red she was turning, Heiki could tell she didn't mean any harm. Not that she probably had to begin with, anyway. Her reaction, though, made her look pitiful, and it made him feel awkward. This was why he didn't socialize often, and it made him want to leave. But he didn't want to be rude, and instead got an idea to help perk her up. Hopefully. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he fingered the old deck of cards held there, sliding a couple into the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
“I'm... sorry,” he said a bit awkwardly, reaching to pat her head. “I'm just a little—what's this?” Sliding his had down to the hair behind her ear, Heiki slid one of the cards to his palm, withdrawing a ten of diamonds seemingly from her hair and holding it up to her with two fingers. “Is this yours?” he asked inquisitively.
He reached out to pat her head, and she felt like she was forgiven. Mika's head tilted to the side, curious about what he'd found. When he revealed a playing card, her eyes widened, and she gasped. Where had that come from?
She was now completely sure that this chuunin was some kind of magic. "Heiki-san... I don't know where that came from." The young girl was in awe.

"Heiki-san... I don't know where that came from."
He gave a half smile, some pointed teeth showing. In his hand was not one card, but two, front-to-back. He showed it to her, fingers on the edges.
“Me either; I mean, you didn't seem the kind to keep diamonds hidden on yourself. Let's change it, yeah?”
Withdrawing his hand, Heiki made a show of flicking the surface of the card in his palm, fluidly sliding the card into his sleeve to reveal instead a nine of clubs. He held up the card to her again, offering for her to take it.
She took the nine of clubs and examining it, wondering what he had done to change the card's value. "Mister Heiki-san... are you a wizard?" she asked, squinting at him. The girl hadn't a clue how he would have been able to do that otherwise. Him being a wizard was the only logical explanation, as odd as that sounded.

"Mister Heiki-san... are you a wizard?"
Heiki grinned, showing his double-fanged smile.
“If anything, I'm more the magician's assistant.”
He just needed a magician to assist, really. Wouldn't that be nice, being able to assist another in a valuable way? More than just the mundane chuunin life.
"That's so cool," she breathed, mouth in an o-shape. This guy was really interesting... She wished she could just hang out with him all day.
...but, by the noise her stomach was making... Maybe that wasn't such a very good idea. Mika's hands rested on her stomach, and she looked up at Heiki, nervous. "Uh-uhm... Mister Heiki-san, I-I gotta go.." She hopped off the bench and gave him a polite bow. "It was really nice meeting you b-but I really do have to go."
And she scampered off in the direction of the nearest public restroom. Perhaps she had eaten that ramen a little too fast.
