After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

"You didn't get the underside. That's the hardest part for me to do by myself," Yuu shook his head when she bopped his nose, the fur tickling. "Please finish it, Yuu?"
Yuu frowned. Did he really have to? It felt... weird, touching under her tail... but he picked up the brush and lifted her tail, trying to occupy his mind elsewhere as he brushed.
“Does anyone ever brush your tail in Kusa?” he queried, making sure to get all the spots near the base he'd somewhat avoided. Just keep the mind busy. There, all done. “And there, all done. You should get ready to sleep, Chiyoko. I need to get to bed myself; I've had a tiring day.”
If he weren't so agitated by her presence, Yuu probably would be able to crash once he hit his pillows. It wouldn't take long, hopefully. He was exhausted.

"Nope. Well, the ladies at the orphanage did, but only when I was too little to do it myself. I kinda have to bend it around all weird to to brush all of it by myself," she informed him, giving a pleased sigh when he began brushing her again.
Almost as soon as he'd finished, Chi shifted and situated herself in his lap, curling up against him. Her tail brushed the side of the sofa, and she rested her chin on his shoulder. She discovered quickly that Yuu had a very comfortable lap. "Before we go to bed, can you tell me a little more about the clan? Please?" Mostly she just wanted an excuse to cuddle up with him for a while. But that was information she really did want to know, so.
"Your hair smells nice, Yuu," she commented, playing with a few loose strands, completely ignoring his discomfort.

Yuu tried to imagine it. It wasn't hard to see where she was coming from.
“I can understand th—wh-what are you doi—hey.”
Yuu went positively rigid when the girl climbed into his lap like it was the most natural thing in the world, not even answering her question about the clan. His nerves completely shot when he felt Chiyoko's breath on his neck.
"Your hair smells nice, Yuu,"
“Ooh wow okay. You need to uh. Um go.” Yuu squirmed, pushing her away while inching backward as well, trying to get loose from her grip and stand. “What do you want to know.” His voice was awkward, but tone direct. She was really unnerving.

Chi had absolutely no idea why Yuu might have a problem with her sitting in his lap. She'd seen boys and girls do it in Kusa, so it wasn't like there was anything inherently wrong with it. He was comfy, and she wanted to cuddle, and for some reason she simply couldn't fathom, that made him uncomfortable.
She clung desperately to him as he tried to push her away. "Yuu, what's wrong?" she inquired, doing her best to hold on to the taller, heavier boy. Unfortunately for her, she met with little success - and because he was squirming around and she was kind of flailing a little bit, Chi lost her balance much more easily than she normally would and toppled off the sofa, landing on the floor with a thud.
She didn't say a word, just looked up at him and did her best to look pathetic. Not that it took much effort.

Yuu watched a bit breathlessly as she toppled to the floor. Now would be a very good time to escape. But, he should be a gentleman and get her off the floor, at the very least.
“Come on now,” Yuu said, grabbing her hand and helping her up, “Let's go to bed. I'll tell you everything you want to know tomorrow, m'kay?”
Giving the catgirl's ear a scratching, Yuu put his hand on the girl's forehead and pushed, making her fall back to a sit on the couch. With that he backed away before she could grab hold, trying to disappear to the bedroom if at all possible. He wanted to sleeeeeep.

Chi allowed him to help her up, and was prepared to tackle him down onto the couch and prevent him from escaping by... doing something. What that something was, she wasn't sure.
She pouted, and very nearly nipped his hand, as he pushed her down onto the couch. Meanie. But the girl was trying not to make him too angry with her, so she decided to relent. For the moment. "Alright, fine," she grumbled, frowning at him as he disappeared into his bedroom.
Chi snuggled up underneath the puppy-printed blanket and rested her head on the pillow, getting as comfortable as she could. It had been a long time since she'd slept anywhere but in her own bed in her tiny apartment at home, so she wasn't sure how well she would sleep...
Well, she'd find out soon enough, wouldn't she?
