After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

The girl had grabbed a hold of him again before Yuu managed to fall completely back asleep. Laying still and quiet for a few long moments, Yuu let out a breath. If it meant he could finally go back to sleep, then so be it, and he adjusted Chiyoko's position to make sleeping easier. When morning finally arrived, Yuu once again found himself having a minor anxiety attack to wake up with a girl attached to him. Taking a few solid breaths of air, Yuu calmed down to remember the night before; hopefully she wouldn't remember.
It took some finagling, but Yuu managed to get free from her grip without waking her and rummaged for some clothes, heading to the bathroom to change. Lord knows he wouldn't want her to wake up with him changing. By the time Yuu readied himself for the day, Chiyoko should have been up, and he rummaged through the kitchen to find something to feed them both.

The next time Chi awoke, it was morning, and she was alone in Yuu's bed. How he had managed to get himself free of her intense sleep-cuddling without waking her was a mystery. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and got out of bed, padding quietly out of the room and over to her bags, where she picked out clothes for the day.
Glancing toward the bathroom, which was currently occupied by her reluctant human pillow, the girl shrugged and undressed right there. She wasn't going to wait for him to get done with the bathroom, and it wasn't like anybody was peeking in through his windows at her.
By the time Yuu emerged, she was dressed and had the tangles brushed out of her hair and tail, and was lounging on the couch - waiting for him. Chi didn't yet feel comfortable enough to go rummage around in his kitchen and find something to eat. "Morning, Yuu~" she trilled happily, grinning at him.
Then she paused and squinted at him. Something was different... When she realized exactly what, well, she was pretty darn confused. "Heeey... Last time I woke up you had boobs. Now you don't. What the heck?"

"Morning, Yuu~"
Yuu glanced up.
“'Mornin, Chiyoko.”
Then she was staring at him, making that cold tingle bristle in his chest.
"Heeey... Last time I woke up you had boobs. Now you don't. What the heck?"
The medic didn't respond. He could make something up, but for all the air-headedness he'd seen from the girl so far, he could tell she wasn't stupid. At lot of people had a lot of things to say about the way he was, but... Yuu felt like Chiyoko would be able to relate to being different, if her features had anything to say about it. So, he went by her side and sat down to try and explain. Perhaps she didn't need everything, but if he didn't explain fully, she may begin using the wrong pronouns, and that always grated on Yuu.
“I do have breasts, I just wear clothes that hide them. I do that because, even though I was born looking like a girl, I'm a guy. I wear clothes that make my body look the way it's supposed to.”

"You can call me Chi, y'know," she informed him after he greeted her. Most people referred to her by her full name. Those that she liked were allowed to call her Chi. So he should feel pretty honored, although she wasn't going to tell him that.
She listened to his explanation, head tilted to the side. "Oh. Okay." Chi could understand being uncomfortable with how you looked. The difference was that Yuu had been able to change, while she was stuck this way forever. "So I should still refer to you as a boy, then, right?"
The girl couldn't exactly say she understood why he didn't want to present as the gender he was born as, but if he wanted to be called a guy, then she would call him a guy. Although, she had to admit she was curious... "Why do you not wanna be a girl?" Hopefully he wouldn't interpret her question as being rude; she just wanted to know, and didn't have any idea how to phrase it better than that.

"You can call me Chi, y'know,"
“'Alright, Chi.”
It was very rare for Yuu to cross a person who didn't make a strange face at his explanation.
"So I should still refer to you as a boy, then, right?"
“Yea, 'cus that's what I am.”
Despite her apparent acceptance, she still seemed to be viewing him skeptically.
"Why do you not wanna be a girl?"
He hummed. It was a good question. It had always been hard to explain this to people. But she was genuinely interested and not being cruel. He could try to give his best.
“Because I don't feel like a girl. When I was younger, I thought I felt different because I was ashamed that I liked girls instead of boys. But I realized the issue wasn't with my preferences, but the way I felt about myself as a person.” He paused, thinking about when he'd started realizing things about myself. “I've never liked the way I looked. It's not like I feel ugly, I just feel wrong, like the body I wear isn't one that belongs to me. It isn't mine. I'm just using it. And since I need to use it, I need to do what I can to be able to leave my home with my head held high. I don't want to be a girl because I'm not one, and I can't pretend to be what I'm not.”

Chi listened to his explanation with a solemn expression on her face. She was doing her best to try to understand how he felt, and why he did what he did. "Okay... I think I get it," the girl replied slowly after Yuu had finished speaking. "In your mind, you've always been a guy. Your body isn't, but you are. Right?"
Honestly, it didn't seem that confusing to her. Although maybe that was because she knew what it was like to be different, to feel uncomfortable in your own skin. Not everybody did. They didn't see that difference as just a fact of life. They looked at it like there was something wrong with not being just like everybody else. "Did you ever get picked on for being different, Yuu?"

"Okay... I think I get it. In your mind, you've always been a guy. Your body isn't, but you are. Right?"
“Exactly.” he replied with a smile, patting her head. Perhaps it won't be so bad keeping her around for a couple weeks. Although, they desperately needed to work out a sleeping plan, because sleeping together is a bad idea.
"Did you ever get picked on for being different, Yuu?"
“I used to, but I'm more careful now and I take care of myself better. It's a lot more difficult for rude people to get to me now the way they used to. What do you do when you get picked on? Aside from clinging on to strangers and insisting on sleeping together with them.”

Chi grinned, purring softly when he patted her head. She was glad that she understood at least a little bit of what made Yuu tick. And even if she still didn't quite get why somebody would feel like a different gender than what they were born as, she at least knew enough to respect that that's how they were.
She stuck out her tongue at him when he commented on how she'd insisted on cuddling up to him. "Depends. I can pretty much ignore them calling me names and stuff by now. If they pull my tail or grab my ears or act like they want to hit me, I beat 'em up. Heh, these nails are a lot sharper than they look." She could give somebody a wicked scratching if she really wanted to. "It's the only way they'll leave me alone, or I wouldn't do it. I shouldn't have to fight my comrades. But I do."
Yuu listened to her response. She was a spunky girl, at least. Perhaps they really were family; they were quite relatable. He patted her pink head again and lowered his hand.
“You shouldn't ever have to fight your comrades in that way, but it happens. Just stay strong.”
That's what he did, and it worked. Yuu wasn't the best in his field, but he tried. He tried hard. He made people want to have him on their team. She just needed to hone an asset that made her wish people hadn't been so cruel to her.
“Just prove them wrong, and don't give in to their provocations.”

"I'm gonna be really strong someday. And if any of those bullies ever need my help? I'll help them. An' I'll show them why they shouldn't be that way. 'Cause not everybody would be that nice," she informed him, nodding sagely.
And then she abruptly switched the topic. "So, now that I know that you have a girl's body, can I sleep in your bed with you?" she asked, eyes hopeful. Chi just felt so much safer and more comfortable curled up next to the boy. She couldn't really put it into words, but it was something she enjoyed, and now that she'd discovered it, she didn't intend on ignoring that. "Please, Yuu?"
"So, now that I know that you have a girl's body, can I sleep in your bed with you? Please, Yuu?"
This girl...
“No. That wasn't the only reason. You shouldn't insist on sleeping with guys you don't know. Like I said yesterday with wandering around in your underwear. What if I decided I wanted to take advantage of you, or touch you in ways you wouldn't like? You need to think about those things. I'm nice, but not everyone is. And everyone has limits.”

Chi flattened her ears, a little cross. What was the big deal? She just wanted to sleep next to him, not do anything strange. "But I do know you. You're nice. You're not gonna do anything bad to me. I just want to sleep next to you, what's wrong with that?"
Maybe she was a little too trusting right off the bat, but Yuu was a good guy. He was family. He was letting her stay in his house. So why not his bed? Chi just didn't get it.
"But I do know you. You're nice. You're not gonna do anything bad to me. I just want to sleep next to you, what's wrong with that?"
“Do you?” Yuu snatched her right wrist with his left hand, holding it upward at a somewhat odd angle. “You only met me last night. You can't say you know me.”
Yuu had absolutely no intention of hurting her, but he needed to get a point across. She'd known him perhaps 12 hours, and most of that was spent sleeping. She seemed to be a good girl, not a slut, so she needed to learn. From the way she described it, it didn't sound like she had anyone at home to teach her anything. When she seemed uncomfortable with the angle at which he held her arm, Yuu grabbed the other wrist. He was a lot physically stronger than she was.
“You make yourself too vulnerabe, Chi. What if I, or anyone got close to you and did things you didn't like? Would you scratch them? You need your hands free to scratch.” He put his hands in front of her shoulders, wrists still gripped tightly, and pushed her back against the couch, holding her there. “You can't be so trusting without getting to know what a person is like. I'm not going to hurt you,” he said, letting her go and backing off, “But there are plenty who would be more than happy to. The fact you let me pin you that way means you trust me, after knowing me less than a day. What if it was someone else who was acting nice? If you let him pin you down, you just gave him a good opportunity to hurt you.” Yuu tapped her forehead. “Think on that for a while. It's not okay for you to sleep with me because you don't know me.”

Chi was a little startled when he grabbed her wrist, but she didn't try to pull away, simply curious as to what he was doing. Yeah, it was a little uncomfortable - and her discomfort showed on her face, as well as in her slight squirming - but he wasn't hurting her, so she wasn't going to do anything.
The girl listened to Yuu in silence. She didn't struggle when he pushed her down, effectively trapping her. Nothing about his proximity made her uncomfortable in the least. And apparently, according to Yuu, that was a problem. She pondered his words, discovering the wisdom held within them. "...I-I'm sorry, Yuu," she murmured, eyes downcast. "I just... I've always wanted to know what it felt like to be that close to another person. Nobody wants to get too close to the freak unless it's to do something mean... So I thought, what's it like when the other person's nice?"
After a long moment of silence, she glanced up at him. "An' I guess I'll just have to get to know you better, then, 'cause I liked sleeping next to you."

The medic Kamizuru listened to the girl speak. She seemed to be understanding just a little bit. He'd take that.
“I understand the feeling of wanting to be close to someone, but you need to learn to control yourself. You can't go crawling into everyone's laps and nuzzling on their necks. You're just asking for trouble.”
If she kept those kinds of things up, Yuu wasn't sure how long he could even endure them before succumbing to hormones. Hopefully she'd get it before that point. It would make things awkward, otherwise.
