After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
And she was gone, having darted out the door. Yuu blinked, pulling on his shoes. It would kind of be best not to lose her. After a moment, her head popped back in.
"I have no idea where I'm going."
Yuu would be lying if he said this girl wasn't cute.
“Then don't run off. C'mon.”
Yuu paused for a moment, eying the bow he'd leaned against the wall the night before. He didn't like leaving the house without it, but it was cumbersome inside stores. Instead, he fished out his kunai holster, fastening it to his leg. Even if nothing was supposed to happen, Yuu felt naked without at least one weapon. Perhaps that was just the side effect of being a shinobi.
It only took a few minutes to leave the Kamizuru distrect and head out across the bridge that led to the marketplace. A few places had stands of fruit, vegetables, and other things out in front, but meat was always within the store itself.

She stuck her tongue out at him, momentarily petulant. But then she grabbed a hold of his hand and dragged him out of the house, half trying to lead the way, and half following the Iwa shinobi's directions.
"Do you have any fresh vegetables, or soy sauce, or anything? 'Cause if not, we'll have to get all that stuff too."
“I've got soy sauce, if that helps? I've got some lettuce, too. Carrots, peppers, don't know everything we need.”
Yuu at least knew where to get meat, though, and directed her to the butcher's. The butcher was a pretty fair guy, and there was a grocer next door where they could likely get all of the other things.

"I need potatoes, onions, snow peas, carrots, sugar, and, mirin, plus the meat," she informed him. The recipe she was thinking of was a traditional nikujaga, which was called a stew but wasn't generally what the word called to mind. Of course, she could easily make a nice, plain beef stew, but this was tastier.
Chi headed back to the meat counter and pointed out the cut she wanted, asking for half a pound cut into thin slices. Upon receiving the package of beef, she gave him a bright smile and thanked him.
Yuu blinked at her list, brow knit. He really, really hoped she was going to write that down on a recipe card or something or he would never remember how to make it. Yuu thought stew was like cut up beef, milk, water, and carrots. All boiled together until it smelled good. He remembered trying that once and feeding it to Okami... judging by the vibrant shade of green his friend had turned, Yuu had deduced that that was not how stew was made and never made it again. That meant Okami would be the perfect person to have taste it when Chi taught him the right way to make it.
Yuu pat the smaller girl on the head as she returned to him with the bag of meat, and the exited the butcher's shop. Next came the grocery-and-goods store where they got the other ingredients. Yuu wandered around a bit there, his curiosity getting the better of him. Chi had been affected by catmint. Did she get affected by other things, too? Nonchalantly, he grabbed a small bag of big fluffy white feathers from a crafting aisle, eying some ribbon. Maybe... maybe... surewhynot. Snagging a spool of blue silk ribbon, Yuu left before he looked like a kindergarten teacher or something and sought Chi out.
He located her in the fruit, examining mangoes with a rather longing expression before sighing and putting them back. Without a word, he picked the one up she'd been looking at and put it in his handbasket, as if he'd come here just for that.
“You ready yet?” he asked, eying the contents of her basket. Some ingredients that she had named—he already couldn't remember what they all were—and black tea. Yuu recalled her wanting some of that last night. Alright.
When the purchases were made, the pair headed back to Yuu's home, Yuu carrying most of the bags, but Chi had been insistant on carrying her mango. Upon reaching home, Yuu allowed Chi to have her way with his kitchen and his food, instead occupied with the goodies he'd gotten from the crafting section. Opening the bag of feathers and tucking them under his arm after withdrawing four, he unspooled the ribbon knotting the quills of the feathers into the end and tearing the ribbon off at about three feet with his teeth, setting the spool aside.
“Hey, Chi, when you get a chance, come out here, I've got something I want to show you.”

As soon as they returned to Yuu's home, Chi took over his kitchen - setting out all the ingredients, digging around for a suitable knife and a cutting board, which she couldn't find.
She poked her head into the other room. "Yuu? Do you have a cutting board?" If not, well, she would scuff up his countertops a little bit, and he would have to deal with it.
Her attention was soon caught, however, by the ribbon and feather contraption in Yuu's hands. Wide-eyed, she went over to him and tilted her head, observing it. "Yuu? What's it for?" Chi wanted to ask him if she could play with it, but - she was supposed to be cooking. And it probably wasn't intended to be a toy.
Yuu tugged at the feathers to ensure they were more or less attached well to the ribbon, adjusting the bag of feathers under his arm. He didn't want to set them down just yet; ne needed to find a clip to close the bags or there would somehow be feathers everywhere and that would be such a pain to clean up.
"Yuu? Do you have a cutting board?"
He paused, glancing toward the kitchen.
“Yeah. It pulls out from the counter next to the stove. The trash is underneath it.”
That cutting board had been a great feature of the small house, Yuu used it daily. When Chi was finished enough to come inspect what he had, he looked at her, debating whether or not it would have any effect.
"Yuu? What's it for?"
Yuu held the object up nonchalantly, dangling the long, fluffy feathers in front of her face.
“I made a decoration, see?”
Yuu didn't lie too often, and he watched her face expectantly for her reaction to it. It was going to be a long series of events to see how far her catlike qualities extended; hers was an interesting visual bloodline to study.

One thing you should never do, unless you were asking for trouble, is dangle something fun directly in front of a cat (or a catgirl, as the case may be) and not expect them to pounce on it. And pounce was exactly what Chi did. She barely remembered to put down the carrot she had been about to peel before she basically tackled Yuu in the hopes of acquiring the feather-and-ribbon contraption.
The girl sent them both careening to the floor, and she landed with a soft thud on top of Yuu with a victorious grin on her face. Feathers spewed out of the bag, raining down upon the two of them and just about every other surface in the room. A few stuck to Chi's ears, and one fluttered down to land on her nose. The girl nearly went cross-eyed trying to look at it, and poked her tongue out to remove the feather from her nose, then started nibbling on it.
Straightening up, inadvertently straddling the probably embarrassed chuunin, Chi took his "decoration" and waved it around happily. "I win~" she chirped. What had she won? Well, that was unimportant, see - because now she had a feather thing, and it was glorious.

He had been busy all day doing odd jobs around the village to earn a few extra coin for himself, his finances have suffered despite his simple living style and if he didn't want to end up homeless and actually live at Yuu's house again he needed to do something about it. Speaking of his Kamizuru friend Okami swore he saw him walking around with some weird chick carrying meat back to his place, that could only mean trouble if he was going to cook for someone other than himself. Sure he probably learned from the last time he made stew to actually follow a recipie and taste his food before serving it but...he really didn't have that much faith in his friend's cooking skills. Guess he better go and check on him and make sure he didn't accidentally commit murder.
As he made his way over to Yuu's house the smell of food reached his nostrils, and the scent of...cat? "Hey Yuu! Guess who decided to visit!" The blonde said as he opened the door rather forcibly and came into the house with a large grin on his face.
Yuu had anticipated some sort of reaction, yes, but the thought of “maybe this was a bad idea” barely had time to enter his mind before her weight knocked him off his feet, the breath whooshing from his lungs on impact with the floor, head thudding on the carpet. Ow ow ow... Once the first priority of regaining the lost air was handled, the second one came to light: Chi was on top of him, and there were feathers... everywhere... His face gained some color, and Yuu put his hands on her waist to pluck her off; he hated how he didn't hate one bit of this situation. He didn't get the chance to remove her, however, because just then, the door crashed open, an untimely blonde appearing.
"Hey Yuu! Guess who decided to visit!"
Yuu's heart, he was sure, all but stopped. He froze in place on the floor, hands on the waist of the girl straddled across his hips. From the surprise, there was little more Yuu could do but stare dumbly at his friend.

Chi calmly munched on her feather, dangling the makeshift toy above Yuu. He probably wasn't going to bat at it like she would, but all the same she was entertaining, tickling the end of his nose with one of the feathers. She was a little less enthused when he tried to remove her from his person - but at least he didn't get the chance due to this timely interruption.
In burst a blond boy who was way too pretty to be a boy. Chi turned and squinted at him, the end of the feather still sticking out of her mouth, trying to ascertain that he was, actually, male. Well, he didn't look like he had boobs... Then again, neither did Yuu. So she leaned down and whispered in Yuu's ear - probably tickling him the feather in the process. "Is that really a boy?" Yeah, she was a little skeptical. But he was so pretty.
Figuring from Yuu's shout that the blond's name was Okami, she greeted him. "Hi, Okami~ Are you Yuu's friend?"

It took him a second to register the scene that laid before him as he came into the house. There was his friend Yuu, trapped under some sort of...cat girl in the most suggestive position he had ever seen the bee lover in. It was...cute and awkward at the same time and was quickly broken by the girl asking if he was Yuu's friend. "Yeah...his friend and teammate..."
As much as Yuu probably would deny it he had to ask, because this was just one of those once in a lifetime moments the wolf boy would probably never see again. And I take it your Yuu's....girlfriend, right?" The Kamizuru might hate him for that, but Okami had to admit that despite the cat ears that made him...uneasy for some reason she was still a cute looking little thing. Guess Yuu has a thing for animals.
The look on Okami's face said it all, and Yuu could have just crawled back behind the couch and hid. But with Chi on top of him, it wouldn't be an elegant escape. However, when she leaned in close to him and whispered, all thoughts of anything were gone.
"Is that really a boy?"
Yuu stared blankly, and it felt like something absolutely shattered inside of him. Since the night Chi had arrived, literally begging to stay with him, Yuu had been up on white-hair levels of anxiety. She seemed accepting when she had found out, disorientingly so, so it didn't help much with the dysphoria. However, when she asked to confirm if Okami was also a boy, as if this was something she needed to tread lightly on and simply expect, Yuu all but lost it. He couldn't deal with it anymore, and practically started to cry. However, they were not tears of stress or sadness, if the rather loud snort had anything to say about the matter, accompanied by the sudden lack of ability to breathe.
Yuu barely heard their exchange over his own laughter, having to roll to the side underneath Chi to not laugh in her face. Her weight shifted against his hip when he turned, Yuu much to occupied laughing to to remember to get her off. The stress limit had shattered, relief flooding through. It wasn't even that funny, honestly, but to Yuu, it was the best thing he'd been asked in a long time.
“No,” he said between breaths, “not a girl.”
And I take it you're Yuu's....girlfriend, right?"
Yuu wanted to interject and say otherwise, but the moment his odd-eyed gaze fell upon his blonde-haired friend, he imagined the male poorly trying to bind away breasts—Yuu couldn't imagine for a moment that Okami would know what he was doing—and more tears came, successfully rendering him incapable of warding off the question. Damn it all to hell.

Chi's ears flattened as she stared down at Yuu, startled, the loud snort causing her to jump. She'd hardly heard him laugh at all over the few days she'd been here, and what she had heard had mostly been forced. Was he having a mental breakdown or something...? "Uhm. Okami. I think I broke him," she murmured, alarmed. How did one fix a person when they broke them? She hadn't the slightest clue.
Poking at his face, she muttered, "Come on, Yuu, stop that. Stop it! Breathe!" Her demands went unanswered, and she shifted on top of him. "Do I gotta bite ya?"
Distractedly, the girl replied to Okami's question - the meaning flying right over her head. "Well, yeah, I'm his girlfriend."

Head tilted as the blonde watched his friend break into laughter and said something to her about girls or something. "Yeah...I've never seen him laugh like that before." he said as he walked in and closed the door behind him to stand over his friend and the cat girl who mentioned something about biting him and admitting that she was indeed Yuu's girlfriend. Go Yuu.
"I think you should probably bite him, I've heard that when people laugh like this it means they finally went crazy. And this guy's always been a bit of a weird one, was always wondering when all that honey would go to his head." he said as he squatted down and started poking Yuu. "Yuu buddy, you still sane or should I call the hospital?" Inside he was giggling like a girl to himself, sure he was just making shit up but this was just too funny watching his friend like this, he seemed really happy and that laughter was probably contagious too.
