After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
"...Yes, Yuu. I didn't think I had to tell you to peel them..."
Yuu huffed, then mumbled.
“Well maybe I like skin on my potatoes...”
He didn't, but that wasn't the point. Discarding the potato he was working on, Yuu went to the pieces he'd already cut. He had a peeler around here somewhere... oh but where was it.
"Told ya I'm the better chef, sometimes I have to come by and cook his meals otherwise he'll end up giving himself food poisoning."
The peeler was momentarily forgotten, and he bristled, hand slapping the countertop.
“I have never given myself food poisoning, Okami, not once. Yes I'm bad at cooking, but I'm not that bad.”
Yuu had boiled chicken lots of times as well as other things and never got sick from it. It was really only that one stew that made everyone get sick (Kyo had been present as well). He survived just fine on his own. But still, he really did like when Okami came.
“...But I really do appreciate when you come and cook, cus it tastes better. And the company is nice.”
Locating the peeler in a drawer, Yuu started peeling the skin off the chopped pieces before returning to the big potatoes and peeling them as well.

"You two are silly. Less arguing, more chopping," Chi instructed, wagging her finger at them. She didn't understand boys. They were really silly.
She drained the water out of the snow peas and set them aside. The girl then retrieved the larger cooking pot, poured oil into it, and turned the heat on, waiting for it to be hot enough to put the meat in. Hopefully, the boys were done with their chopping now, and had added the potatoes and carrots to the bowl with the onion.

He chuckled to himself before he heard the slap on the countertop and froze as Yuu corrected him about his claim of Yuu giving himself food poisoning. He forgot that while Yuu managed to put up with Okami even he had some limits with some of the shit the wolf boy pulled. Guess he should apologize after they finished eating. "Yeah...I like coming over to see ya and Kyo too." he quietly said as he went back to chopping.
He was quick with his cutting and soon was finished with chopping all of his carrots and he dumped his share into the pot along with the onions. "All finished on my part, shall I go set up the table while the stew's cooking." the wolf boy asked as he went over to the sink and washed his hands free of any clinging carrot skin.
There was half a smile on Yuu's face as he continued peeling potatoes. It was hard to stay mad at the mutt.
"You two are silly. Less arguing, more chopping,"
“Yes, yes.”
Yuu wasn't near as fast as Okami at slicing, and it took him longer, but he was finished with them by the time Chi requested them (he may or may not have cut his finger in the process, though.) Washing off the offended piece of potato, Yuu gave the girl his vegetables when asked.
"All finished on my part, shall I go set up the table while the stew's cooking."
“Yeah, you know where the dishes are.”
Washing the potato juice from his hands, he absently put the assaulted finger in his mouth instead of hunting for a band-aid. It would stop bleeding soon enough, wasn't like he cut anything off.

Chi inspected the cut vegetables and nodded, satisfied. Good, the boys knew how to use kitchen knives. That would come in handy. She dumped the beef in the pot and answered Yuu. "Nope. Now everything mostly just needs to cook."
After the meat was browned, she added the vegetables and a cup of water, simmering the mix for around twenty minutes. In went the soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and a pinch of salt, and let it cook for a while longer. Once it was finished, she added the snow peas, and picked the onion out of her portion - when she cooked it for herself, she didn't include onion, because she thought it was gross, but she figured Yuu and Okami would probably appreciate the flavor.
"Let's eat!" Chi chirped, settling down at the table.

Okami nodded when Yuu said he knew where the dishes were and set off to grab them. Grabbing a handful he managed to set not only the plates but quickly set up the utensils as well. They were eating stew so just spoons would be all they needed right? At least that's how Okami ate his stew and he didn't know if these two had fancy ways of eating it. Soon Chi brought the stew just as the wolf boy was setting the bowls for everyone and once the smell hit Okami's nose he couldn't help but start to drool a little bit. "Wow...so good."
Soon he began pouring himself his share and taking a single spoonful and stuffed his mouth. "Mm, we make a good stew." the blonde said as he laughed while taking another spoonful of the mixture.
The meal smelled increasingly well as the time went on, and Yuu was happy when it was finally ready to eat.
"Wow...so good."
“Agreed,” Yuu said, standing to serve it. He may not have helped much in the making, but it was still his house; he wasn't going to expect the girl to serve him after cooking. Okami took his own share, which was fine, then Yuu poured two bowls, pushing Chi's toward her. All the chunks floating in it looked delicious; Yuu hoped he paid enough attention to know how to make this later.
"Mm, we make a good stew."
By the taste, Yuu couldn't agree more.
“We totally do.”
After eating for a few minutes, Yuu decided, since Okami was already here, he could stay a while. Chi needed entertained, and while Yuu didn't necessarily want to say she was “high-maintenance,” she was rather... overwhelming.
“'Kami, wanna stay over tonight? Could use another feather security guard,” he tacked on with a grin.

Chi had to agree; the stew had turned out fantastic, as usual. Not that she was bragging or anything. "Yummy~ I can write down the recipe for you guys if you want," she offered, figuring that since Yuu had seen her make it, he would be able to replicate it with the aid of a recipe. He couldn't be that hopeless in the kitchen. He just couldn't be.
The girl picked all the beef out of her stew first, then nibbled on some of the vegetables. She wasn't really a vegetable person, but she knew she needed to eat at least a little bit of 'em in order to stay healthy.. Even if she thought most of them were icky.
Chi was sipping the broth when Yuu spoke again and shot him a glare. "If I want the feathers, neither of you are gonna stop me from gettin' 'em," she informed them.

"Hell yeah I'd like the recipie. I seriously don't want this to be the only time I eat stew this good!" he said as he munched on the rest of his meal. His metaphorical wolf ears would have twitch as Yuu asked him if Okami wanted to stay the night and help out with taking care of Chi. As if he needed to ask. "Yeah sure. I woulda just stayed anyway without asking," he smiled before grinning slyly at the cat girl, "You know if you touch any of those feathers I'm gonna have to tackle ya to the ground and sit on you." he said in all seriousness. He would tackle her, he didn't give a fuck.
“I'd love the recipe. Will be nice cooking something other than boiled chicken and instant rice.”
Yuu wasn't quite sure it would come out okay—he had quite the way with screwing things up—but it didn't hurt to try. With a recipe card and all the times and temperatures written down, what could possibly go wrong?
"If I want the feathers, neither of you are gonna stop me from gettin' 'em,"
Yuu kinda figured Okami would stay anyway, but asking made him feel better about the drop by. Like, what if the house was dirty, or something? It would get pretty messy sometimes when Yuu was working on a late order. Before Yuu had a chance to counter Chi, however, Okami cut in.
"You know if you touch any of those feathers I'm gonna have to tackle ya to the ground and sit on you."
Well, that worked just fine.
“He will,” Yuu said, taking a sip of the broth, “and he hits like a wrecking ball; I can personally attest to that.”'
When they finished the meal, Yuu collected the dishes, taking them to the kitchen

"I'll write it down later," she informed them. Casting a glance at the medic, and giggling, she asked, "You sure you can handle it, Yuu?" The teasing grin on her face indicated that she was only kind of being serious; surely he couldn't mess up too badly with exact directions to follow.
Chi finished off her broth and licked her lips, trilling happily. The meal had turned out pretty much perfect, and she had had enough beef to satisfy her.
The girl inspected Okami and snorted. "I'll take my chances. Blondie doesn't scare me," she said, sticking out her tongue. "An' if you try an' sit on me, I'll bite ya!"

"We'll see about that, I can bite too you know." A cocky grin flashed on his face before he stood up and picked up his now empty bowl. "Well I'm gonna lie down on the couch if ya'll need me," He took his bowl to the sink and dumped it in before turning on his heel and flopped onto the Kamizuru's couch. "And I'll be keeping an eye on those feathers Kitty, so no funny business." With that the blonde stretched and got comfortable.
After the early dinner, the trio spent a lot of the evening entertaining themselves indoors, the boys each trying to one-up eachother on embarrassing stories to tell the girl. Unfortunately, Okami won with the story of the time Yuu tried to blend in and use the women's bath.
“It happened one time,” Yuu said in protest, but he couldn't top that particular story and looked away shame-faced, glancing at the clock. It was getting pretty late and Yuu wanted to actually get things done tomorrow.
“We should probably get to bed soon. If you want to take a bath, Okami, I've got some clothes that will fit you.”
Yuu should probably head out and do laundry tomorrow, come think of it... can do that in the morning before heading out. Get some actual training done. He was going to be restless if he had to stay in the house with miss kitty.

Yuu and Okami had a lot of.. interesting stories to tell about each other, the girl learned very quickly. And a lot of them were really embarrassing... She couldn't look at the medic without giggling at the moment.
"I'mma take a quick shower," she informed them, extracting herself from the conversation to retrieve her nightclothes and head into the bathroom. A while later, she emerged, dressed but with a slightly damp tail, and handed her brush to Okami. "Wanna brush my tail?" He should be honored that she would let him, really.

"Oh come on, it was pretty much your first time doing anything with another woman technically, I mean you did kinda see her naked, touch her while she was naked, if it wasn't a hot spring full of people you probably could have had one hell of a night at some inn or something." the wolf boy chuckled as he watched Chi go take a quick shower, while she was in there he turned to his friend, wanting to ask something he was curious about. "So how long is she staying with ya? And what is with the ears and tail." he asked, really curious about her, speaking of which after a good time had passed Chi had come out of the shower asking Okami if he would like to brush her tail. "Uh...sure." he said as he walked over to her, grabbed the brush, and began stroking her tail rather roughly.
