After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

"He called me Catnip. An' he said a lot of stuff... but I don't really remember all of it." She paused for a moment, brow furrowing as she tried to remember anything more specific. "He told me his name... Kashii. He's got really pretty blue hair, an' sharp teeth, kinda like mine," she described. "He's barely taller than me."
Chi was silent for a long moment, then she looked back at Yuu. "I can't remember anything else. I'm sorry." Then she snuggled into him, using his chest as a pillow - one that she could not bite till the stuffing leaked out.
The medic had to let go of Chiyoko's ears not to crush them in his grip. That fucking... He knew that the guy was sleazy, but there were limits. Of all the people... Yuu was ready to grab the bow and head into the night to shoot the bluenette himself.
"I can't remember anything else. I'm sorry."
Yuu released his fists. He couldn't do anything about it right now. So, he resumed rubbing the girls ears. The bases were warm and squishy, they probably felt nicer to be rubbed than the tops.
“You don't need to remember anything else,” he spoke kindly, “I can make sure he won't come after you again. Promise.”

A soft purr rumbled up out of her throat as he resumed rubbing her ears. "...you know who he is?" she asked quietly, shifting slightly. There wasn't any doubt in her mind that, if Yuu said she wouldn't have to worry about him, she really wouldn't have to. The amount of trust she had in the boy was astonishing, honestly, as could be seen by how she snuggled up to him. After nearly getting raped, one would think she would be hesitant to get too close to any guy, Yuu included; but Chi felt safe with him, and that wasn't going to change. She'd known the boy for all of two or three days, and already she was more comfortable with him than she was with anyone in Kusa.
A thought occurred to her then, and she flattened her ears. "Yuu... what happens if I don't want to leave?"

She hesitated after Yuu spoke. Did she want him to do something to Kashii? Hurt him like he hurt her? Chi was unsure. It wouldn't change what happened. It probably wouldn't make her feel better. But all the same, a small part of her wanted to tell the boy to do something about him. "...I don't know, Yuu. If you want to do something, I'm not gonna stop you... but I'm not gonna tell you to do it either," she replied at last, frowning.
Chi was silent after Yuu spoke. She wiggled out of his lap and turned to face him. "No, I don't belong there," she murmured softly. "I belong with my family... the part I know of, anyway... Not people that don't care whether I live or die and call me a freak and a mutant and abuse me for being different."
"...I don't know, Yuu. If you want to do something, I'm not gonna stop you... but I'm not gonna tell you to do it either,"
Yoo looked at the expression on her face. She was hesitant.
“I'm not going to sit and do nothing about it. But I'm not going to do something to him, if you're worried about that.”
She was a good kid, it seemed. His odd-eyed gaze watched her as she wriggled away to face him.
"No, I don't belong there. I belong with my family... the part I know of, anyway... Not people that don't care whether I live or die and call me a freak and a mutant and abuse me for being different."
It was Yuu's turn to frown this time. He could understand her feelings on that. But he knew nothing about the concerns of international affairs. A trip was one thing, but he wasn't sure if shinobi villages could just transfer their ninja. Plus, showing up and stating that she was a Kamizuru did not necessarily mean that she had family. She had people who shared her name. Yuu was currently her caretaker. He could easily go around and introduce her to the other clan members, and he hadn't yet seen her use her bees as proof, though he did take her word for it.
“That's something you'd have to discuss with our Tsuchikage, and there would be a lot of things involved for that to work. I can't make you any promises. I can help you find a home if it turns out you will stay in Iwagakure, though.”

"Okay. I trust you, Yuu," she murmured, giving him a small smile.
Chi didn't know anything about transferring a shinobi from one village to another - or even if that was possible. But, despite the one bad experience, she was already falling in love with the village, and she was so attached to Yuu that she was almost positive she wouldn't want to go when her three weeks were up. The prospect of having to talk to not only his kage, but her own as well, was incredibly intimidating.
Don't get her wrong; she still loved the village she had grown up in. It was a gorgeous place, and most of her fellow shinobi weren't all that bad (excepting the other genin, for the most part). But who would ever want to go back to being alone when they had a whole clan they could live with? Certainly not her.
"Yuu, if... if it turns out I don't want to go back, will you come with me to talk to the Tsuchikage?" He'd seemed like a friendly enough man, but in all honesty, Chi thought he was pretty scary. "I-I don't want to be a burden, but..."
“I can do that. Chinatsu-sensei is a good man; I'm sure he will at least think about it.”
She seemed nervous still. Then, Yuu had an idea. Taking a moment, he left, hunting around for where he had put the brush. Locating it still on the couch, he returned to the room.
“How about I brush your tail? Will that help you go back to sleep?”

Her ears perked up when he returned to the bedroom with her brush. The girl's purring started up again, and she shifted so he could sit behind her and brush the tangles out of the fluffy fur that covered her tail. "Yes, please!" she trilled, wiggling excitedly. Her tail thumped against a pillow.
"You're really good at brushing it without pulling on it, Yuu," she complimented, moving her tail out of the way so he could sit. "Getting my tail pulled is the worst thing, 'cause it hurts really bad."
“Thanks,” he said, getting behind her where she made room. “I can imagine it does. It's an extension of your spine. I wouldn't want that getting pulled.”
He stroked her tail, running the brush through. The fur had still been damp when he laid her down, so it had gotten a few tangles when it dried. The resulting purr, he'd found, had become a rather comforting sound. Perhaps that was why so many people kept cats as pets. This time, he made sure to brush underneath, careful not to touch her butt this time.

"It feels like they're gonna yank my spine right out of my body... It hurts so much it makes me tear up, even though I'm kinda used to it," she informed him. If he wasn't already, he would surely handle her tail with extra care and attention after hearing that.
Her purr increased in volume and intensity as he kept brushing, eyes drifting shut. Chi didn't fall asleep this time, however; no, she was a little too awake after that nightmare. Although, if Yuu kept on comforting her, she'd surely fall asleep eventually.
Poor girl. He continued to brush her fur, unconsciously more careful about stroking the bristles through. Her purring got louder. He recalled Chi saying something about a cat's purr being therapeutic. She was definitely not wrong, it was rather relaxing.

She sighed with pleasure, ears twitching. Having someone else willing to brush her made the girl quite happy; no one had ever wanted to, not even her sensei or anything. And now Yuu, who wasn't at all obligated to help her with little things like this, had offered to brush her. The difference in temperaments was astonishing, really.
"I scratch 'em. If they don't learn from that, I bite 'em. The last person that pulled my tail got chased by bees." Okay, so maybe it had only been three bees, but he sure was scared of them. "I don't like hurting them, but that's the only way they'll stop."
Giving in to the urge, Yuu set the brush on the nightstand. He pulled the girl back against him, hugging her. She sure seemed like she needed it. The mention of the bees warded away the lingering suspicions from before.
“It's good that you don't want to hurt them, even if they hurt you, but some people just don't learn. We can start teaching you about bees tomorrow, and we can go see the Tsuchikage, too.”
Yuu could cover all of the basics with her. See how many she could summon and such. He'd bring Kyo with, since Kyo fought primarily with his bees. Once Chiyoko was good on the basics, Kyo would take over and really teach her how to fight like a Kamizuru.

She trilled and snuggled up against him when he pulled her close, tail swishing against his leg. He was nice and warm and his skin was soft, and she would stay in his lap forever given the chance. "How many bees can you summon, Yuu?" she asked, curious. Chi was expecting a number like fifty or a hundred, something like that; much more impressive than her five, but nothing outrageous.
"You promise that he's nice?" she asked in reference to the Tsuchikage, still a little nervous about having to talk to him. "He seemed kinda scary to me..." Not near as scary as her own Kage, however. That was a conversation she really didn't want to have.
