After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Sounds. So many sounds. Izaya loved sounds. It was early morning; the best time for sounds. The Enoki's left ear twisted behind him as a new songbird added its voice to the chorus, right one going to the side when it detected the scratching of a squirrel's claws going up the tree he sat in. The tip of his tail curled. Heh, squirrels. Such fluffy little things. Jittery too. Those tails were really... distracting. His black tail curled again. Damn things were too hard to catch though, so he pushed the squirrel out of his mind.
“What do you think, Tsuki?” the male asked, looking down to the large mouse that lay lounged at the base of the tree. Tsukizumi's big black eyes opened, looking up to his partner, and gave a squeak to ask what. Izaya pointed out across a field, where a brightly colored object waved. Izaya couldn't really tell what color it was supposed to be; red? Orange? It was too dark to be yellow...“Should we check it out?”
Without much of an answer, the large mouse got to his feet, stretching his paws over his head. Adjusting the blue cloth that hung from his neck, Tsukizumi shuffled in the direction of the whatever-it-was, Izaya dropping to the ground to follow right behind.

He really didn't want to go out to another country, not after all the recovering it took from the last time he was out doing something on a mission. Why did he even take these sort of missions in the first place? Yeah the reward was kinda good and it was a smaller known area but...He really didn't wanna test his luck with meeting shinobi from that place. Who knows what sort of crazy jutsu or other things they made for themselves. Guess he would just need to be on his toes at all times.
Today he was sent into Oto no Kuni to retrieve some sort of stolen possession from some bandits who crossed the border into the country. Pretty simple and even if he ran into some Oto nin all he had to do was just tell them why he was here. They would understand...right? He sure hoped so.

When Izaya got closer, he could see that the object was a human, the scent on the wind reading male. He didn't bear the scent of one who lived in this country, he brought odd smells. Flattening his ears, Izaya dropped to a crouch in the grass, withdrawing his pipe from its holder on his leg. Sure he was just a genin, but... if this guy was a bad guy, it would be even worse to just let him go by without saying anything to him. Then, if he was a good guy, all he would see is a boy with a pipe.
Making up his mind, Izaya emerged from the grass, large mouse following in behind him, plucking stray grass blades from the cloth on his tail.
“Oi,” he called to the man, ears pointed forward to capture the sound of a return voice. “Where the hell are you from?”

The sounds of grass being trampled on reached Okami's ears as he froze in his spot and looked around for the source. Did he seriously attract someone already? Sure he was on a road but from the looks of it it was a pretty old road. His hands dipped into his right pouch and gripped a kunai. Soon enough a young ninja, probably a genin by how he just ran out like that, came into his view and all Okami could do was just stare at him, and his ears...and tail.
Save for the hair and opposite gender he was the spitting image of Chiyoko, or at the very least the sort of human Chiyoko was. So she really was part of a clan of cat people...great. And to make things...well worse in Okami's case, a big mouse or rat or whatever soon followed the boy and stood next to him, which caused the wolf boy to freeze as he suddenly remembered that one time he was fed rodent for lunch. No time to think about the past however.
"From a nearby place, just here on some business, now why don't you and your...pet just let me through eh?" he said as he glared at the kid, hopefully intimidation would do something to make him back off.

"From a nearby place, just here on some business, now why don't you and your...pet just let me through eh?"
Izaya felt the hair at the back of his neck stand up as he bristled. He didn't like the way this guy was lookin' at him, or at Tsukizumi.
“He's not a pet, he's a partner,” he spat with a growl on the last syllable. “If yer not from here, why don't you tell me where you're goin'? Maybe I c'n help you get there.”
Izaya's Oto headband was clearly visible through the bangs if his hair and his tail twitched, ready to play the pipe if need be. This guy looked a little bit aggressive. And a little cu—no, Izaya, now was not the time to think of that.

Oh great, the rat was his partner. It was going to turn into another Rin and Rasta wasn't it? At least it was way smaller than a gigantic lion, hopefully it can't grow in size otherwise Okami will just pack up his things and leave. A lion was one thing but a big rat was something waaaaaay different entirely. Still for now he just needed to get this kid out of his way and then it would be nothing but smooth sailing from here on out.
"Its not that far from here, I can make it on my own thank you very much." With that he slowly walked past the cat boy, his hand still gripped on the kunai in his pocket in case he was...persistent on helping Okami get to where he was going.

"Its not that far from here, I can make it on my own thank you very much."
Izaya's catlike eyes narrowed.
“I insist. A stranger shouldn't be walking around; what if someone were to attack you? Wouldn't you rather have walked into me instead of some no one ready to take your head?”
Izaya approached further, Tsuki following by his side. The mouse's twitchy nose was directed right at the foreign shinobi; something about that fella was amusing. He just couldn't quite put his paw on what.

Geez this kid was one of the stubborn ones huh? Guess Okami didn't have a choice, the headband on his head was already a clear indicator that this kid was nothing but trouble. In a blink of an eye he drew his kunai and pointed it at the cat boy, his eyes glaring at him and his lips curved into a frown. "I told ya I'm fine on my own. Now why don't you run along back to your village and tell no one about this hm? I'm not doing anything wrong, just looking for something that was taken from a client of mine. That's all." He was never one to be menacing but Okami's words sure carried some sort of anger in them. And he hoped the boy picked up on it.

The blonde ninja did not look pleased in the least, and Izaya bared his pointed teeth in return. You cannot just enter his country and walk around as you please. It didn't work that way.
“And for what reason would I not report a dusty-scented stranger wandering where he doesn't belong? You're in my territory, you play by my rules.”

Guess it was time to do the hard way of handling this. "Well for one reason if you don't leave me alone then you might not die from bleeding out." He said as he reached into his other pouch with a free hand as quick as he could and pull out a shuriken and throw it at the boy, nicking some hair off of his skull as well as probably giving him a cut as well, it was a good way to give haircuts so he thought he might as well use it again. "Is that a good enough reason now?"

"Well for one reason if you don't leave me alone then you might not die from bleeding out."
The glint of light from the shuriken being thrown caught Izaya's eye and he moved just in time for the weapon to fly harmlessly by his ear, the resulting sound making his ear flick. He hissed at the shinobi.
"Is that a good enough reason now?"
His fingers kneaded the holes of the pipe, trying not to press his claws into the wood.
“I just told you this was my territory, didn't I? How do you get off tellin' me what to do?”
Putting the mouthpiece between his lips, Izaya blew a high-pitched note, Tsuki dashing out at the other shinobi's legs as a distration, large, long teeth bared and ready to bite. Altering the tune to an actual tune, Izaya began the melody to call his tiny weapons of furred destruction.

He was quick, more cat like than Chiyoko, and dodged the shuriken with ease. As he watched the boy play his little pipe he caught the mouse trying to take a bite out of him. Remembering the fried rat he had a long time ago made him jump as it went under him. He decided to ignore the mouse and focus on the boy, turning towards him he just caught him playing another note on his pipe and soon many more mice and voles became to scurry about around them. "Oh you gotta be kidding me!"
Forming hand signs the ground around the blonde began to shake as spouts of water began to shoot out all around him. Soon he was surrounded by a ring of rising geysers, some of which blew back a mouse or two that got too close. Taking out a pair of shuriken he then tossed them at the boy, hoping this time he'd be too distracted to notice them until it was too late.
Izaya had to admit the older male's reaction was quite amusing. Tsukizumi skidded on his paws when the shinobi jumped and gave a powerful upward leap himself, jumping much higher than the shinobi himself could. Even when the forein male landed and the geysers erupted around him, Tsuki twisted in the air as he dropped downward; all sixty-two pounds of fur and claws landing heavily on the shinobi's shoulders after the shuriken had been thrown.
Izaya dodged again, having never taken his eyes off the male, continuing his song as the creatures reached and circled his feet. He'd continue playing until the water subsided, and then change his tune to something a little more deadly.

He hadn't even noticed the mouse had managed to obtain higher ground above him until he noticed a shadow by his feet that was growing larger along with the approaching vermin. Cursing himself for not noticing earlier he threw up a single hand sign and before the mouse touched him his body disappeared in a flicker leaving nothing in its place. Instead his body reappeared right in front of Izaya and placed a kunai up to his neck. "Now I'll ask, may I please go in peace?"

The large mouse squeaked indignantly when the body disappeared underneath him, landing heavily on the dirt road below. Izaya's pipe made a sharp, off-key whistle when the male appeared right in his face, blade at neck, and his ears flattened slightly.
"Now I'll ask, may I please go in peace?"
Th-this was nothing. Izaya had been in worse places. Maybe. Okay maybe not but he could put up that front. He bared his pointed fangs, hissing. While the larger male had his attention solely on Izaya, the large mouse dropped to all fours, dashing with mouth open to sink his incisors into the fleshy calf of this enemy.
“You don't scare me,” he growled lowly, “I'll let you live if you lower your blade.”
