After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
If he wanted to learn a new technique, well, who was she to deny him? "I reckon' I do, Hikari. It's called Buutai Houin, or the object sealing method. It's something most shinobi learn because of its utility. Here, I'll show you." She withdrew a small scroll, her brush and ink, and a kunai. Picking up the brush, she dipped it into the ink and drew a simple seal in the middle of the scroll. Then, after it was dry, she placed the kunai on the seal and made a few hand seals. With a puff of smoke, the kunai disappeared into the scroll. "This seal is a reflective seal, more commonly called a storage seal because of its function - storing items and thus allowing a shinobi to carry more on his or her person." The woman then reversed the order of the hand seals, and the kunai appeared again.
"Here, use this scroll and the kunai and try sealing it." She repeated the hand seals slowly, making sure he knew which ones she was using. "Then I can fish up another scroll and you can try drawing the seal, if you'd like."

An object sealing seal, he had heard about such a thing during his academy years but it completely went over his head as he focused on getting the hand of his clan's secret technique. Watching the woman make the seal on the scroll and hand signs caused Hikari's brain to try and remember how it was all done. Remembering the seal was pretty simple enough for him as it was something that was still. Hand signs on the other hand had to be re-winded in his head till he could fully remember it. Once he was handed the scroll and kunai he slowly brought his hands together and remembered the order of the signs Kazuko made before performing them himself. In a puff of smoke the kunai was soon gone, stuffed into the scroll and leaving a smile on the boy's face. "I did it! On my first try too! Oh, I better bring it back..." The boy mumbled as he reversed his handsigns and soon the kunai was back in their plane of existence. "Huh, thought it would be a lot harder. I'm ready to try making the seal now Kazuko-san!"
Kazuko grinned as the young boy successfully used the technique on his first try. She had expected that; the object sealing method wasn’t exactly difficult. The hardest part about it was remembering how to draw the simple seal, which wasn’t very hard at all. “Good job, Hikari,” she commented, rustling through her pockets for another blank scroll. She set it in front of him along with the ink and brush.
“Take another moment to look at the seal; make sure it’s firmly in your mind,” she instructed. After he had indicated that he would remember it, the redhead rolled up the original scroll and stuck it back in her pocket. Any seal user worth their salt drew seals from memory, so she figured she would get him started on that early. Even if he didn’t pursue fuuinjutsu in the future, this was still a useful skill to have. It would help him remember things like building layouts on missions in the future. “Alright. Go for it. Show me your skills.”

He smiled as the words "good job" were uttered in the same sentence with his name. As he looked at the seal one last time to remember every detail about it the woman withdrew it from his view and gave him a blank scroll and an ink and pen. Recalling what the seal looked like the boy got to work. Stroke after stroke the image was clear in his mind and soon it was clear on the scroll, with a few rough strokes however, it wasn't like the boy was an artist after all.
"Okay...I think I got it! Now to try it out..." He reached into his own pocket and withdrew a shuriken and placed it on top of the seal. Once again he did the handsigns and the shuriken disappeared into a puff of smoke, reversing the order of signs however, didn't seem to yield the desired results. "...Uh. I think... I messed up. Maybe I'm missing a few pieces of the seal?"
Kazuko inspected the seal he drew and compared it to her own, laying the two beside each other so Hikari could see the differences. "Look, it's just a few little things you missed. There should be a tail on this character here," she explained pointing it out. "And the lines of this character need to be just a little bit more precise. For a first try, it's not bad. Do you want to try again?"
Kazuko produced another blank scroll and offered it to him; she had plenty to spare, and besides, it never hurt to have extra sealing scrolls laying around. As a matter of fact, she would probably let the boy keep the ones he managed to draw properly so he could use them. It wasn't like scrolls were hard to come by or anything.

His head nodded along to the woman's points about his mistakes. He examined the differences and recorded them to memory and as soon as she asked if he would like to try again he jumped at the chance. "Yup!" The genin exclaimed as he snatched the scroll, laid it out and began working. While his penmanship could use a lot more work he managed to get the symbol right according to what the lady told him. Once the seal was drawn he placed one of his own Shuriken onto it and did the hand seals. In a puff of smoke the tool was gone and Hikari did the seal again in reverse, calling the shuriken back to them in another puff of smoke. "I did it! I did it!" Exclaimed the boy, "Is there anything else you can tell me about this jutsu Miss Kazuko? I want to make sure I have everything down while I practice some more!"
The young genin was very eager to learn, which made Kazuko smile. As a genin, and even now, she had never really had that much drive for training; she preferred to work at her own pace, to study when she felt like it, and only if something interested her, something her sensei had often tried to change. But Kazuko was her own person and she didn’t tend to listen to people if she didn’t want to, something one wouldn’t expect for her calm, relaxed demeanor.
His brushstrokes were still a little messy, but that was alright; you didn’t become a master of seals after ten minutes drawing the things. Her own precise, neat penmanship had come about after years of practice when she realized that yes, it was pretty important to be able to read what she had written down. And after an, ehe, interesting incident in which a plain old seal did the exact opposite of what it was intended to because of her poor drawing. That was a mistake she would never make again.
She ruffled the boy’s powder blue hair, amused by his excitement. “Well, there are a couple things. The size of the scroll you use determines how much you can seal into it; one this size is good for holding shuriken and kunai, or some books or other scrolls. Basic things. To seal, say, a battle puppet, you’d need a larger one. The size of the object also determines how much chakra you’ll use up performing the technique; you’re still pretty small, and your chakra reserves aren’t fully developed, so sealing anything big will really take a lot out of you. Could kill you, even, if you got too ambitious. So be careful. “That’s about all I can think of.”
“And,” she continued, rolling up the scroll he’d successfully written the seal on as well as the one she’d made and handing them to him, “You can keep these. If you want to write more seals, I can show you the little shop where I get my ink and brushes. There’s no place better in terms of quality. Scrolls, well, you can get just about anything, the quality of those don’t really vary too much. Any other questions?”

All ears were on Kazuko's words as she explained the finer details of the jutsu. He gulped when the mention of death was brought up as she explained how different sizes of seals and objects would drain him of chakra. Now he was lucky he didn't carry a large amount of ninja tools or a humongous weapon with him. Plus he could probably save money on scrolls if he donated some of his own paper. That could be possible right?
"Mmm..." mumbled the boy as he thought about anything else he should probably ask the woman, yet nothing came to mind, he knew all that he figured he would need anyway, "No no questions, but I would love to see this shop of yours. If I'm going to practice this seal I'm going to need a lot of supplies to make sure I don't run out in the future. Thank you for the lesson Miss Kazuko!" He said with a smile as he took the scrolls and waited for her to show him to the brush store.
"Sure, follow me." The chuunin took up a leisurely pace back to the village, making sure the powder blue genin was behind her. "So, Hikari, who do you have as a sensei, if you don't mind me asking?" She'd heard through the grapevine that her old sensei had taken a new team since Kazuko, the last member of his original team to take the chuunin exams, had finally passed. It would be pretty neat if the young Origami was being taught by the same man that guided the redhead through her six years of being a genin, the trauma of losing an eye, and the difficulty of learning to be a sensor shinobi. Yeah, her sensei had been pretty damn awesome.
Eventually, they reached the door of the small shop, and Kazuko ushered Hikari inside. The place was filled with inks and brushes of all shapes and sizes and colors. "Take a look around, see if you see anything here that interests you. All of it's good for fuuinjutsu, high quality stuff."
While the genin perused the shop, she meandered over to the counter to chat with the woman behind it; she was one half of the pair that created and mixed the inks they sold here, and she was grinning broadly at the compliment of one of her most frequent customers. Kazuko mentioned that Hikari was interested in getting started on some fuuinjutsu, and she knew he'd find good supplies here; normally, her complementary nature earned her some nice discounts on her own purchases. Speaking of which, she went and plucked a few bottles of colored ink off a shelf; the chuunin had so many scrolls laying around she was going to need to color code them to stay organized.

The two walked and a question was asked, one that Hikari was a bit surprised to hear. He had always thought that it was common knowledge that his aunt the Kazekage, was teaching her own squad of Genin. Then again he doubt the names of such genin wouldn't be known, plus the woman probably didn't keep up with every single team in the village. "Well my sensei is-" This thinking lasted to long as the two came to the store.
Deciding to tell her when they were done the boy went inside and was amazed at the selection they had. It really was a store that was perfect for funijutsu users. Nodding at the woman's words he went over to the brushes, looking at the different sizes they had. Picking out three, one small, one big, and one that was just right he moved onto the inks. He had plenty at home and he wasn't sure he understood what some of these labels said he figured he could use one or two reserve bottles. So he grabbed two of the second smallest ones and brought them over to the counter.
"I have the things I want Miss Kazuko. Oh and I never finished answering, my sensei is my auntie, Isei Kimiko, you know the Kazekage." It wasn't like he felt it was that big of a deal someone important was training him. He only saw her as his aunt really.
Kazuko added his purchases to hers and forked over the cash, grinning gratefully because, just as she'd expected, they'd gotten quite the discount. She tucked her bottles of ink into her hip pouch and handed Hikari the small bag with his items inside, ruffling his hair.
"The Kazekage herself? Sounds like quite an honor. You must be really strong already, Hikari," she complimented him, sounding quite impressed. She'd known that the woman had taken on a genin team - who in the village didn't know that? - but word never really got around as to who those genin were, probably for their own sakes.
"It's getting a little late. I'll walk you home, if you'd like?"

Taking his new belongings from her the genin blushed not only at his hair being ruffled but also at the compliment he received. His aunt is a great teacher, even if some of her methods are a bit unorthodox. He could still remember the terror he felt as she dropped him from the sky to try and practice his Shikigami no Mai jutsu, but in the long run it did work out for him. Hopefully the training just got easier from there.
"Well, I suppose. I can keep up with my teammates and I've won a few spars with some of the other genin in the village. But It'll be a long time till I'm as good as you or Aunti Kimiko." If he did have one strong point it was his modesty. "Um, okay Miss Kazuko, we can walk home together. Just um, please be careful if you see my Aunt, I mean the Kazekage. She said she was going to give a surprise lesson the other day, and I think she meant surprise literally." If she caught him with a woman, oh how much teasing he would receive.
"We should probably hurry." He said with worry as he made a beeline for the door and waited for the Jonin to reach it and walk him home.
"Time flies, Hikari. You'll be a chuunin like me before you know it. There's no better sensei in the whole village than the kage herself." She gave him a fond smile. Kazuko was pretty familiar with Isei-sama, since she ran paperwork all the time and made personal reports about her gatekeeping duties on a regular basis. The Kazekage was very friendly and always had a kind word to say; Kazuko couldn't imagine anyone better to make Sunagakure prosper.
She chuckled and led him out of the store, setting a casual pace, trusting the boy to walk in the direction of his home. "S'alright, I like surprises."
