After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

It seemed the man was more at ease now. Perhaps he enjoyed this kind of thing enough to forget about being bitter for being caught and contained in a foreign country. Whatever the reason, Rin would be determined to keep his mind off of it. She watched as he made an impressive blade—but, it was too pale. It didn't have the deep pink-red that indicated it was dense enough. Still, it cut well.
"That's better! Though, wish it went the entire way through."
But then, it snapped when he tried pulling it out. Whether it attested to his physical strength or the weapon had just weakened that much from the impact, Rin didn't know. Though, she could admire a strong man. Casually, the woman wrapped her small hand around his dominant arm's bicep.
“You've got a strong swing. You've got to make sure your crystal is hard enough to withstand it.”
She slid her hand down to his, retrieving the broken sword. She examined it, running her finger along the edge. That, at least, was sharp. She nicked her finger intentionally, approving. Then, she grabbed it with both hands and snapped it across her knee. Strong, but brittle.
“Your crystal can get harder than steel if you fortify it dense enough.”
Rin held out her hands, crystal shards growing from her fingers to form a weapon that was similar in size and shape as the one he made. It wasn't identical, but it was as close as she could get from what she'd seen. It was several shades darker than the crystal Okami-kun had made, and she offered the weapon to him, holding the blade so he could grasp the handle.

He looked over the piece of broken crystal, turning it over in his hands before feeling the soft touch of Rin's hand along his bicep before snatching it away from his grasp. He watched her break it over her knee, cringing as she did so, he forgot just how strong the woman was, hell she even managed to break one of his crystal dragons mid flight. She was seriously not one he wanted to royally fuck around with.
"Harder means sharper eh? Sounds...logical." Taking the sword from the woman's hand and gripping it with two hands the wolf man turned towards the post and sliced at it again, this time cutting the wooden post in two from the middle. "Huh, guess your right, sorry about the post though." The blonde said sheepishly as stuck the sword into the ground. "So should I try again or we moving onto something else?"

"Harder means sharper eh? Sounds...logical."
The woman didn't bother taking the time to correct him. Clearly Okami-kun didn't have much experience with paper. The weapon just needed to be strong enough to not break. She watched as he took the sword she made and attacked the post again, this time slicing it in two. She winced. I hope they don't expect me to fix that...
"Huh, guess your right, sorry about the post though."
“...”
"So should I try again or we moving onto something else?"
Rin observed the post.
“Well you already broke it, try again until you can slice through it with your own crystal. Then it's your turn to teach me something.”
She did little to hide the eagerness. She wanted to learn how to make the big flying dragon.

Use his own crystal, fair enough. Focusing his chakra into his hands a small cluster of crystal began to form into a tanto, similar to the one he used to use before it was taken from him. With his own crystal blade in hand he brought it down on the remains of the post and split it down the middle in a downward cut. Just like before his blade made a clean cut through the wood, and this time the blade didn't shatter.
"So teach you something huh? Well we're both Crystal style users, but know more things than the other does. Got anything specific you know you want to learn?" It did seem a bit odd, she seemed really more experienced than Okami was, so surely he couldn't teach him something that she didn't know already.

Rin watched in approval as the man cut through the post with his own blade. He learned quickly; that was good.
"So teach you something huh? Well we're both Crystal style users, but know more things than the other does. Got anything specific you know you want to learn?"
Rin clapped her hands together, knowing exactly what she wanted to learn from him.
“Teach me how to make that flying dragon. I've put wings on my large figures, but I've never been able to make them fly.”

He blinked as she clapped her hands and explained what she wanted to learn. His best technique, the flying monster he called a crystal dragon. Guess he should have held out on showing that one during their fight. "I see...well. Um... Hm how do I explain it? Its like making a large figurine but...ya just gotta put more chakra into it? Like make it a part of you or some spiritual shit. Uh... That's how it usually works for me. the boy said as he scratched the back of his head.
"We should try that first and see if it will work for ya, here lemme show you the seals for it." Slowly the boy made the hand signs for the jutsu, letting a moment pass for the woman to study them carefully before moving onto the next.
"Remember, use more chakra than you would making your figurines, and just imagine it can fly. We can work our way from there."

Rin's crystal blue eyes watched the male try to explain, expression growing blanker and blanker with each word. The crystal a part of her, spiritually?
"We should try that first and see if it will work for ya, here lemme show you the seals for it."
Rin watched intently as she was shown the proper seals for the technique, and mimicked them as he made them.
"Remember, use more chakra than you would making your figurines, and just imagine it can fly. We can work our way from there."
“Let's do this.”
Since he hadn't provided her with an example, Rin easily made a replica of his dragon, how she remembered it from their battle. Making it was the easy part. It was getting it to move that would be hard. Her figurines could move, yes, but they were jointed. For this, Rin would need to make the crystal itself pliable, and to do it without heat. Taking a deep breath, she did as she would with her figurines and put her hands on the stationary dragon, pushing in twice the amount of chakra as she did her figurines. It started to move, which got her exited, but then it lurched into her and forward, knocking her away, then promptly exploded into flying chunks of crystal once she lost physical contact with it. Covering her face to avoid being hit with shrapnel, she looked incredulously at the remains of her abomination, then looked up at Okami from the ground.

He watched do the signs and create a dragon of her own, only to have it run out of control and explode into a million fragments. "Oh shit!" The wolf boy ducked as the pieces of crystal went flying everywhere, even knocking down the creator onto the floor. "Yeah...no kidding. You might have poored a bit too much chakra. This might be harder than I thought. Hm...how do you usually make your big crystal animals move. Maybe we can base this training off of that." It was worth a shot after all, if she could make large crystals move like that then this Jutsu shouldn't have been a big problem for her. Perhaps there was something that was different about the two of them that was the source of the problem.

"Yeah...no kidding. You might have poured a bit too much chakra. This might be harder than I thought. Hm...how do you usually make your big crystal animals move. Maybe we can base this training off of that."
The woman rose to her feet, brushing shards of crystal from her hair and dust from her skirt.
“I make my animals move differently,” she informed him, going over to the statue that was standing still. She put both hands on it and pulsed her chakra into it, forcing the crystal animal to fall to a crouch so its belly was on the ground. She removed her hands. “They've got a lot of joints in them so they can move somewhat naturally. If I'm not riding them I can heat the crystal hot enough that it is soft and they move better. But your dragons didn't have joints and they weren't hot, from what I could tell.”

She must have spent a lot of time thinking up the finer details of how her jutsu worked. It was completely different from how Okami worked on his, hopefully she wouldn't think he was some sort of idiot for his explanation. "Joints, loose. Okay okay. I think I have...a solution. Just, forget what ever it is you know about manipulating crystal animals and that sort of junk. You might need to just use nothing but pure will and imagination on this. I know it sounds stupid but hey, doesn't every new jutsu start out as an idea and you just kinda...make it happen?"
His face was red as he wasted his breath on that explanation, it probably was the stupidest thing he had ever said before, but at least it was probably the best thing he could offer. "So yeah...just...mind over matter. Just give it a shot, no harm in trying right?"

Um... what?
"You might need to just use nothing but pure will and imagination on this. I know it sounds stupid but hey, doesn't every new jutsu start out as an idea and you just kinda...make it happen?"
The girl's brow knit. He wanted her to do what now?
“Um.”
She didn't want to sound stupid for not understanding what he meant, but Okami-kun seemed to realize how silly he sounded, if that cute red face had anything to show for it.
"So yeah...just...mind over matter. Just give it a shot, no harm in trying right?"
“Mind over matter... right...”
No joints, no moving parts... uh... let's see. Closing her eyes, she tried again. This time she made a pretty good replica of one of his dragons, and it did not explode. But it also did not move. His dragons moved upon creation. Rin pouted. She'd expected this to be so much easier. She looked back to Okami with the pout still on her face.

He watched her try again, this time she managed to make the dragon itself in its full splendor, except she still couldn't make it fly or even move at all. "Mmm.... Yeah...I don't know what to really say. I just sort of thought of it one day and just worked on it till I got it down." Guess even between two crystal users learning a powerful jutsu would still be pretty hard. Guess the jutsu she taught him were pretty simple. "Okay uh...how about...well we have the dragon, why not pour some chakra into it and control the chakra...and have it go into the air. Think you can do that?"

"Mmm.... Yeah...I don't know what to really say. I just sort of thought of it one day and just worked on it till I got it down."
The pout faded to a frown. What was she even doing wrong? She pushed against the dragon, hard, but only managed to marginally shift it. Forcing it wouldn't do her any good so she didn't put any of her strength into it.
"Okay uh...how about...well we have the dragon, why not pour some chakra into it and control the chakra...and have it go into the air. Think you can do that?"
She mulled the idea over in her head. Conceptually, it didn't sound that hard.
“I'm not gonna say yes just for it to not work.”
Rin slid her hand down the roughly scaled serpent and selected a good segment that was just low enough for her to straddle, bare thighs rubbing against the rough surface if the dragon. One she got this down, she'd have to make smoother ones. Gripping the crystal she closed her eyes, imagining her chakra flowing through the serpent and bringing it to life. When the monster shifted below her, she pushed more chakra into it, imagining it moving, floating, something. There were no joints; it was one long being that needed to flow. Like... water. That's it! Crystal was made of earth and water... she always used a higher mix of earth than water... water flowed more...
As the wheels in her head spun, she found it easier to visualize the serpent animating. She had the damn thing moving, but what about flying? Floating? How did one do that? With the rise of the dragon, it rubbed her thighs, and she hopped up to crouch on the creature's back. Well... it was moving. It was a step up.
“I'll try making it fly, but might want some safety goggles in case it goes boom again.”

He circled the dragon as he watched the woman put her hands onto it and slowly make it come to life, still no flying however. At least they made some sort of progress. Plus it was fifty percent progress! Or even seventy five percent! "Remember, imagine it flying, like swimming through the air and stuff. Just keep swimming just keep swimming." The wolf boy said, encouraging her not only with words but also a small little dance where his arms were out to the side and gave a little wiggle like flowing water. "C'mon if an expert like you can't do it but an a guy like me can, then that's just shameful!"

"Remember, imagine it flying, like swimming through the air and stuff. Just keep swimming just keep swimming."
The woman shot him a look. That dance. He looked like he was trying to audition for a movie about fish. If it weren't so dorky-cute, she might have been offended.
"C'mon if an expert like you can't do it but an a guy like me can, then that's just shameful!"
Okay now this time she was offended. Still, if he thought she was an expert... that meant he saw her skills as better than his own. She couldn't consider herself an expert with no proper shoton training, even if she'd become successful in using it. Instead of getting irritated at him, though, she poured that energy into the dragon below her. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
And then, miraculously, it moved. It was moving. The crystal was flowing, malleable and not quite solid, but still crackling. Once she got it moving, the overexcited girl didn't know what to do with it and floated in circles around Okami-kun and the wrecked post before jumping off. Bounding up to the tanned male, her arms went around his neck in a bearhug, so excited to have officially learned something.
“You're so great!”
