After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Tenma is a small, rather light boy with black hair and bright blue eyes that can be noticed from a distance. Due to being born in the desert, Tenma's complexion has darkened more than normal shinobi. His attire generally consists of a white coat with black hems over a black undershirt and a striped blue/white scarf. The hood on his coat has two long protrusions that resemble ears. They are usually wrapped around his neck like another scarf, but can be seen thrashing behind him in the wind.
Tenma is a shy, rather introverted individual. Unlike most other children who attended the academy, Tenma kept to himself and tried his best to avoid the attention of other students and teachers. This, however, only lead to him drawing more attention. While he wouldn't quite consider himself alone, due to the company of his partner and best friend Rayne, he will admit to the desire of having at least one friend who didn't call him a freak for having a rodent as a pet.
Although he spent most of his time growing up alone, with the exception of Rayne of course, Tenma helps out quite a bit when the other shinobi are not around. He loves helping out his family, and also the other seniors around the town. While not a troublemaker, that often lands a lot of suspicion onto Tenma's lap. No child could be as quiet and reserved as he was without having some ulterior motive.
Very few things lead to Tenma losing his temper. One thing that he despises more than anything else, however, is when people insult Rayne. As his best friend, he has known Rayne for years and will actively attempt to punish anyone who does it on a regular basis. One other thing that he hates is sun-dried meats. Traveling through the desert for most of your life tends to do that to someone.
Tenma does, on the other hand, love Ice Cream or any frozen treats. Due to the scarcity of frozen foods in the desert, Tenma grew up considering them a delicacy. Now that he is part of the village, however, that delicacy has turned into an every-day indulgence.
While most Shinobi in this day and age are born and raised in the safety and comfort of villages, the Subeta family is a large exception. For generations, this group of wandering nomads has taken to wandering around the vast desert of Kaze no Kuni. Occasionally, they would stop in the small, nearly abandoned towns, but would soon be on their way. It wasn't that they were shy, or didn't want to be part of a village. Quite the opposite. It was like they were searching for something.
For as long as anyone remembered, the Subeta family had been a group too small to call a clan. Their jutsu was, however, unorthodox. Unlike most Shinobi who focused on developing their own strength the Subeta family fought alongside small rodents that they had found in burrows under the shifting sands. It was because of the union of these two groups that the Subeta developed their Earth Style Sensory Perception techniques that are still passed down to this very day.
Around mid-September, the Subeta family was graced with the birth of a new family member. Young Tenma was quickly shielded from the harsh heat of the desert sun, and raising him proved to be difficult. His mother in particular worried that the desert was no place to raise a child.
Much to her pleasure, the rest of the group agreed. Instead of wandering, they now joined the small desert village in order to raise their new born son. Once they were settled down, the routine that came with raising a child was quickly adopted and put into place. Over the next few years, as Tenma grew up, his skin darkened due to exposure to the unforgiving desert sun. The heat no longer bothered him, and he was even able to begin wearing heavy clothing when outside.
When Tenma was Eight years old, their home was nearly destroyed. It wasn't by bandits or by rogues looking for an easy score though. No, this was by the unforgiving winds that cursed the desert. A sandstorm had been kicked up and engulfed the village in a massive suffocating cloud. For weeks, the villagers could not leave their homes for fear of choking to death on sand. Even the few Fuuton users that the town had couldn't blow the cloud away, it was far too large. It was around this time that Tenma was given a gift, just like his parents before him had. A young prairie dog by the name of Rayne. It was his to raise and to develop along side him.
It didn't take long for Tenma to connect with young Rayne, given the length of time they were cooped up inside. After months of having to remain indoors, the sand cloud finally subsided. Upon leaving their houses, the villagers found that their crops, their well, and everything that allowed them to sustain themselves in the desert had been buried under sand. With their livelihood in jeopardy, the families in the village had to pack up and leave.
Where the other families went, no one was sure of. Eventually, after about a year of wandering further, the Subeta family arrived in Sunagakure. They were amazed by how the village operated, and decided that it would be the best place to allow their son to continue growing up.
So, at the age of nine, Tenma entered the Sunagakure Shinobi academy. While his time at the academy was anything but spectacular, it did allow him to develop an even closer bond with Rayne. He found out that while he possessed Doton nature chakra, his partner possessed Fuuton nature. They were the perfect combination to use his families jutsu, and that drove him to practice even more.
While not scoring high marks, and without standing out through feats, achievements or by making trouble, Tenma managed to graduate from the academy in four years. From there, his life as a shinobi progressed as normal. Missions, battles, scouting.. the works. It took some time, but Tenma found that he preferred the quiet, relaxed nature of the academy over extensive combat. He was much more suited to be a teacher than he was a fighter.
Eventually, Tenma's team was eligible for the Chuunin exams. A series of strenuous and difficult tests to 'prove one's worth' as the proctors called it. The tests proved to be just as difficult as originally described. No one was sure how, but soon enough.. Tenma's team made it to the final round.
The finals were done and over with before long. A spectacle for the surrounding nations. While it was difficult to keep things a secret, Tenma managed to do so while proving his worth. Soon afterwards, he was promoted to chuunin.
Now, two years later, Tenma has been removed from normal day-to-day missions and instead works as a teacher at the Sunagakure Ninja Academy, and one of the proctors for the Chuunin Exams. While he doesn't miss the battlefield, he never lets himself fall out of practice. Who knew when he'd be needed in battle again, or.. when he'd need to chase down that pesky rodent known as Rayne.
Elemental Expertise - Doton : Although Tenma is young it has been noted by several of his clan's elders, as well as numerous Jounin sensei, that Tenma's expertise with the Doton element far surpass what would be expected from someone his age. While this doesn't mean that he can preform higher level techniques than normal, the expertise comes in the form of 'chains'. Tenma is able to quickly comprehend and adapt to conditions on the battlefield, and use his Doton chakra to preform said changing conditions.
Summoning Contract: Like all members of the Subeta Clan, Tenma has been granted access to the Prairie Dog Summoning Contract. This scroll, which is kept under lock and key in the main hall of the Subeta Clan's residence, allows Tenma to summon numerous prairie dogs to assist him outside of battle.
Animal Companion : Much like the summoning contract, Tenma also possesses his own, unique Prairie Dog by the name of Rayne. Rayne is a Ninrisu, and is able to assist Tenma in battle. The Subeta clan specializes in collaboration Ninjutsu, which means that the two (Human and Ninrisu) combine their chakra together to use unique jutsu. Rayne is the only Prairie Dog that Tenma can preform these techniques with.
