After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

“Thank you for taking the time to talk to me. I'd look forward to the test of endurance of having a spar with you.” Shi nodded once. Why he'd be grateful for something so simple was beyond her, but she supposed not everyone had to have extravagant tastes. As far as the spar went, she'd have to observe the male. She'd never paid much attention to the varied combat styles within the village, never particularly interested. It would be an interesting experience if nothing else.
When the bill did finally come Shi pulled her wallet from her pocket, frowning faintly at the bill that had been set across the table. 'Is putting it in the middle so hard?' Violet eyes rolled beneath the shadow of her bangs. No matter. The food was good, as was the service. Added to the fact that there was more cleanup meant eating out was far more convenient than cooking at home, and it was worth every cent so long as the food was good. Even with the added complication of unfamiliar company involved it had been a satisfying evening. "How much?"
The evening had gone well. The initial nervousness had long faded once the topic of poisons had gotten too involved. Maybe it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. Though one shared meal proved little, however. It just meant she could tolerate his presence for this amount of time. Probing the old sensei might be something to do in a few days, although the next planned meeting with Shi would not be filled with pleasantries.
Yuu thanked the server when the bill arrived, taking it when it was placed closer to him. The most expensive meal had been that of the cat, but by no means was it out of his budget to pay for. Setting the paper down, Yuu fished in his pouch for his wallet, retrieving it.
“How much?”
Yuu glanced up at her, then waved his hand.
“I've got it. I wouldn't have asked you out if I was going to make you pay for yourself, and your glutton cat.”
The last bit was said lightheartedly with a smile towards the aforementioned feline, who seemed to lower his ears in a bit of shame. Pulling the right amount of bills and coins, Yuu laid it down and reached for his quiver. As much as he didn't want to go, the young lady needed to go home for the night and Yuu himself had a deadbeat brother who was likely still on the other side of the street, stuck on some bench and waiting. While the idea of leaving him was plausible, that would be a little cruel considering the events that left him stranded in the first place. Even Yuu wasn't that cruel. It was just the way the siblings showed affection for each other.

“I've got it. I wouldn't have asked you out if I was going to make you pay for yourself, and your glutton cat.” Shi hated feeling beholden to anyone, especially over something so inconsequential as a meal, but the male had a point. He was the one to propose the idea. She never had any problem making others pay for forcing their company on her before, she saw no reason to alter that now. “Let's do this again sometime...?”
She considered the male briefly. He was unusual, if only because he considered her company tolerable, possibly even if his behavior was any indication. Then again, who in her limited social circle didn't have something decidedly off about them? If nothing else they could discuss the finer points of damaging the enemy. If they were lucky they could race to put something sharp and unpleasant into any pests who made themselves known. "I suppose we may as well." The corner of her mouth lifted. "Perhaps a last meal before that training session you had in mind, just in case you don't survive the ordeal." She had no interest in actually killing the boy—he was a competent healer and useful when Dave couldn't be bothered—but that didn't mean she didn't want him to consider it a possibility. Everyone should have someone who keeps them on their toes; it keeps them sharp. Plus, unnerving people was entertaining. She might even call it fun.
