After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
She was looking down on him, wasn't she? Not that Yuu could really blame her. It was clear she wanted to be gone already, and he had his habit of never doing things halfway when he started them, almost like an obsessive compulsion. Still, Yuu hadn't expected her to take the needle and do the stitching for him. Knowing to clean it and knowing how to tie each stitch off indicated she'd done this before. Idly he wondered where she had learned.
There was a rush of icyness when the tourniquet finally did come off, the staunched flow of blood finally coming loose into the rest of his body. And, unfortunately, the flow allowed what remained of the numb to nearly disappear. There was a growl, and his hand refused to flex; most of the muscles responsible for that movement severed. Thankfully by now the pain medication was working. Wounds were one thing to deal with in the heat of battle but with no adrenaline to mask it it would be problematic. Still, the growl was the only acknowledgment he let her see.
“Are you ready to go back now or did you want to fix your nails and hair while we're out?”
Ah, he'd been right. Half of him wanted to tell her to just go on ahead; this wasn't exactly a cool side of him he was proud of her seeing. But logically he knew it would be pure idiocy to cross the village to the hospital where he could get treated properly with chakra exhaustion and bloodloss while alone. So he put his hand to the back of his head, rubbing his hair trying to stall that bit of embarassment.
“My hair could use a comb, since you asked, but I think I'm ready. Thank you for staying.”
Shifting to sit on his knees, Yuu awkwardly grabbed his supplies—including the soiled ones—and haphazardly stuffed them into the kit. After being scattered on the ground, most of it needed resterilized anyway. It was an ingrained habit not to leave soiled material behind, as it could be used to track back to the source, and he didn't even think about it as he collected the bloodied bandages and stuffed them into the bag. There was annoyance when his arm dangled limply as he did this, and after pulling the bag against his knee to zip it closed, he moved it across his chest with the other hand, internally calculating if the sweatshirt would be sufficient as a temporary sling. If it had long sleeves then the answer would be a resounding yes, but it would have to be tied from the end of zip to maybe the hood.
A glance to Shi let Yuu know he'd already asked plenty of her, and he pulled his cap on his head, bringing the jacket up to drape over his shoulders. Dangling uselessly was more or less fine if they were just going to be walking. Standing, Yuu grabbed the kit and slung it over his shoulder, going to retrieve the bow that the girl had propped against a tree.

Shi watched the male pack up, satisfied that they would be on their way sooner rather than later. She was tired from their fight and the last thing she wanted was to be stuck out in the open when the last dredges of adrenaline wore off. She'd much rather be locked away in her room where no one could or would bother her. She grabbed the bow from the tree she'd propped it against, slinging it across her back and tugging her hair out of the way. If he thought she was letting him hold onto the heavy weapon he was mistaken. Getting clubbed in the head once was more than enough to convince her she preferred the hunk of cumbersome wood well out of his reach.
There was a click of annoyance when the girl filched the bow before he could grab it. What, were we trying to play keep-away with the injured party? He could carry his own things.
“I got it. You don't need to carry that.”

“I got it. You don't need to carry that.”
"Neither do you. You can have it back when you're strong enough not to fall over with a strong wind." By which point she would be well out of reach. It's not as though he'd be able to use it anytime soon with the damage to his arm. He wouldn't even be able to grip it normally; she'd seen to that. His motor skills would take time to recover, which meant that for all intents and purposes the bow was useless to him and would be for quite a while. She might as well have turned it to kindling for all the good it would do him. Besides, it was almost amusing to see him getting frustrated. She'd never seen it before.
“Neither do you.” Yuu's brow knit. “You can have it back when you're strong enough not to fall over with a strong wind.”
“I won't fall over...” he muttered. He watched the way the weapon rest across her back, the end nearly dragging on the ground for how small she was. She took his bow. Less than a week ago he couldn't talk to the girl, now she was strolling home with his bow across her shoulders. Didn't appear to have any intention of giving it back, but in the same sense, he wouldn't be able to use it for a while. Still, he'd rather have it safely collecting dust in his own possession.
