After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Note: sorry, I started my university life and it kinda killed my "I have a life" statment.... now 90% of my free time when I'm awake is for homeworks, the rest is for eating and walking my dog basically.... ~~~~~~
The hooded female noded, making her companion understand she heard him and that all is well. Slowly the darkness was taking over the outside wirld and instead of the day-light shining and reflecting from the crystals in the walls the cave was now lit with the reflection of the fire. The lighting was as magical as before but became less pleasant than it was. If during the day the cave lookec like it came out of a fairy tale, now it looked like it was the entrance to the underworld decribed in the mady different stories from past and long forgoten places.
Lien was hipnotiezed by the scerary. It ws only until a late hour that hr pet woke her up from her day dream. Looking around she quickly make a few touches for their trip. Lit two and gave one to Yuu. "It is now time. They usually grow in places that aren't lit well even during the day. Will searche for simmilar caves first,"
~~~~ Feel free to have them find it. It is also the time to reveal Lien's true name! Feel free to take charge over her!
The changes to the cave's interior were entrancing. Yuu laid upon his back, relaxing, watching as the colors changed slowly. The male didn't bore easy, able to keep his mind occupied with countless things. His current thoughts were a mix of reflecting on his opinions of Aburame and the girl he accompanied, as well as what the lilies were going to look like, how he would culture the medicine, and all the uses of the poultices he'd made.
"It is now time. They usually grow in places that aren't lit well even during the day. We'll search for similar caves first."
Lien's voice broke Yuu from his thoughts, and he rocked to a sit, taking a moment to let his equilibrium catch up to the sudden movement. He hummed his response, getting to his feet and brushing the dirt from his clothes, collecting his belongings and following the girl out of the cave. Moving by darkness was much more irritating, but by far not something Yuu wasn't unaccustomed to doing.
A lot of the night was spent searching for caves not unlike the one they had located. They had nearly decided to call it a night when Lien had spotted faint glowing coming from the back of the final cave they'd checked. Yuu scouted it first, pale light filtering from openings in the ceiling. The puddle he walked in gave a severe drop-off that he nearly slipped into. Regaining his balance, the chuunin stepped upon the surface of the water as if it were as solid as the ground he'd just left. Nearing the lilies, Yuu crouched, entranced by the glowing petals. They were beautiful. It was a shame to crush them, really. But, he wanted to collect as much as he could. It was an exceptionally rare herb.
Standing again, Yuu reached into a pocket of his flak jacket, withdrawing a paper slip. Injecting his suiton chakra into it, it flared a bright blue, and he dropped it to the water, where it glowed bright until the paper burned away, completely unaffected by the water. The flare lit up the cave, showing no dangers. It also lit the crystal-clear pool that he stood upon. Judging by eye, it was between four and five foot, and there was a convenient area nearby—lit by a ray of light filtering in—that he could use to make the poultice. He returned to the girl who patiently waited for his report.
“It's the flower we're looking for. There's a good spot to stay inside, but it's across the water, which is about five feet deep. Can you walk across the water's surface?”
Some skills from the girl had shown him that she was a shinobi of some sort, but not all knew how to tread across the surface of fluids. She did not answer, instead moving to slide into the water and swim across. While Yuu had refrained from touching the traveler thus far, he latched firmly onto the back of her cloak, pulling her back away from the water's edge.
“Look, it's cold out, your cloak is heavy, and the water isn't exactly warm either. I'll take you across.”
Without giving Lien a chance to answer, the medic swept her up in strong arms, one arm under her knees, one behind her shoulders. He stepped into the water to carry her across, but then she just had to be a pain and yelp, her squirming going to full-on thrashing. Okay, she didn't like being carried, but it was literally twenty feet to the back of the cave and he wasn't gonna drop her into the water, so he clutched her tighter, picking up his pace. Amidst the flailing, he saw out of the corner of his eye that Lien's hood had fallen, and sheer curiosity had him look down. However, as they passed through one of the beams that filtered in, two ling, shiny attenae caught the light of the moon. Lilac prows knit and he froze, eyes locked onto the telltale symbols of a clan he was even more familiar with. One that an insect user would never want to cross. Kumoro.
While he had accepted her blood of Aburame, this was one trait he wouldn't be able to accept. The arm that supported Lien's sholders shifted to fist into the back of her cloak—and her shirt—all but ready to toss her away. Kumoro meant intense trouble. He knew the rumors of that clan. How they lured insect users in, raped them, and killed them after their purpose was fulfilled. He knew she wouldn't get anything out of him, but that did not stall the bristling all the same. However he stopped short, dangling Lien over the water like a cat, powerful upper body strength keeping her suspended nearly completely out of the water. Again, she hadn't done anything to him thus far, but then, she wasn't done with what she needed the medic for. Afterward? Who knew. He hadn't fulfilled his purpose yet.
Instead of flinging her away like he'd originally wanted to, Yuu quickened his pace, placing her on the solid surface of the stone platform across the water. It was then that he backed away from her into the pool of water where she couldn't get to him without sacrificing mobility by swimming. Hateful odd-colored eyes glared at her, feeling used beyond belief.
A single moment after entering the water Lien felt herself being pulled back. Yuu had actually picked her up to carry her to the other side. Pure terror took over the Kumore Princess, It was too dangerous, to risky. If he was to see her hair or to touch her skin it'll be all over. She was working hard but it won't be enough. She did her best to break free and get away from him but in vain. the more she straggled, the stronger he held her.
A single antenna fell on her face and the girl froze. While she was trying to get away her good fell off and her hair was not relieved. The worst case scenario just happened. If she could try and hide her venom with her scarf that now was much harder to do. Seeing as there were about to reach a spot lit with moon light coming through an opening in the ceiling, she slowly tried reaching for her hood and cover her head back again. The light reached her before she could do that and all that was left is to press the antennas down and pray. No praying in the world would have helped anymore. She could feel the change in the air around the boy and all her meaningless hopes crashed.
A short moment and she felt herself hitting the ground. It's not that Yuu dropped her, and not that he threw her away from him, he actually put her down on her feel. It was the shock that made her fall down. Not even sitting up, she crawled to the wall and pressed her head on it with her back still to Yuu. She knew it was dangerous but she couldn't face it, she couldn't look at him or let him look at her face. As tears started running down her face she felt a familiar stinging at her arm. A familiar sound followed as Tiarra who came rushing to her master's help went 'mega' from her own will. As it Yuu wasn't scared of the little girl as she was before.
Lien was found out to be a Kumoro and Tiarra went to her aid and protection instantly. She wasn't a hostile Tarantula but if the Kamizuru was going to try and harm her master, Tiarra would show him just how much her bite can hurt. Turning to the face the girl while she was still growing, the now gigantic spider took a defensive position as her master started sobbing softly behind (and under) her huge body.
Lien's reaction to Yuu's discovery caught the Kamizuru off-guard. Was she crying? He was expecting retaliation, “you discovered my secret and now you must die,” things like that. Not curling up and crying. Yuu didn't like crying, especially crying girls. It wasn't as if he despised the action, no, it was more he had an overwhelming urge to comfort those he saw crying. Because of this, he was getting severely mixed emotions about the entire situation. He nearly approached her again when the sound of the spider approaching caught his attention.
Yuu's mouth fell agape when he saw the creature increase in size before his eyes. He cursed loudly and fled the cave. Fuck giant hairy spiders, man. But, the medic didn't go far. He'd set off to abandon her and find his way to civilization, but something stopped him. He'd feel guilty if he did that. He still had a job to finish. An Iwa shinobi did not halfass their tasks. With a sigh, Yuu backtracked back to the cave, seating himself in a dry area beside the water's edge, not entering.
“Are you alright?” he called to her after a while, her sobs echoing out of the cave.
Filled with her misery, Lien did not notice the boy leave, nor did he realized he came back. Tiarra's protection was only a little comfort to the girl. All she could think off what were her parents to think if this all. If she gets to come back alive. She was thinking of the progress they have made and the fact that the boy will probably inform his clan of the fact that the Kumoro are somewhere close to their country. Things will get tough... Worst of all, she won't be able to bring back all the herbs and medicine she was to get even if she's one of the best when it comes to finding resources of any kind...
With her tears coming down her cheeks at some point the sobs where replaced with hiccups, a simple prove that she was to tired to keep on crying like that. The depression she found herself in drained her. As the time passed slowly, Tiarra began to shrink back to her normal size, landing on top of her master being unable to move as a side effect. At this point Lien was already asleep, giving in to the weakness that took over her.
No matter what he'd tried saying to the girl, there was no response. Eventually, he gave up trying, and merely waited. When the sounds of the girl finally quieted from the cave, Yuu stood, pulling his bow from his back and nocking a blue-fletched arrow into it. His sharp eyes peered into the darkness and he stepped onto the surface of the water, bow half-drawn ready to shoot. There didn't seem to be any movement, not even sign of the massive spider, just the dark form of Lien's body on the ground near where he'd placed her. Yuu held his guard high.
Reaching her side of the shore, Yuu saw the spider on top of the girl, unmoving. Was it dead? Possibly not. Even so, he removed the arrow, using the long bow to poke both Tiarra and Lien. Neither female moved. There was a sigh. What a mess. Stepping onto the shore some several feet away from her, Yuu leaned against the cool wall, resting the bow and arrow into his lap. Putting his hands together, the Kamizuru summoned five single suzumebachi bees, which he had land on his person. They would act as a little security system of sorts. He would settle to sleep; the bees could wake him should aggression occur, and they can also sting. With the large bees settling into the folds of his clothes, Yuu eyed the girl from behind glass lenses, then allowed himself to try and sleep. They'd spent a good amount of the day and well into the night traveling; it wouldn't be hard. Jutsu Used: Kuchiyose no Jutsu[Summoning Technique]
Active effects: Five bees. They'll be on his body. If either Lien or Tiarra approach him, they will take flight and buzz around, but they will not attack unless they feel threatened. Buzzing directly into Yuu's ear will wake him. So if she's got gall she can poke him awake if her movements are slow.
As the first rays of the morning sun lit the cave, Lien woke up. Tiarra was already back o mobility and very hungry. Gratefully, the water lilies did attracts bugs and she was able to hunt her food with out leaving her masters side. The ginger girl looked around herself and saw the Iwa medic not too far away from her- asleep. It was a surprise that he did not try to take the girl out during the night as there was some time when Tiarra wan't able to do a thing if he tried something.
Getting to her feet and glancing into the water she saw that her hair was uncovered and that she had black marks under her eyes. She washed her face and covered her hair sitting by the water and starting to fish. In the mean time, Tiarra gathered some dry wood around the place. While the hooks were in the water, Lien started the fire. Soon she got some small fish and cooked them. placing some of the fish on a big water lily she blew it in the boys direction using her wind ability. With that, she sat down to eat herself and wait to see what will happen. She had to give the boy some credit for not attacking her.
Movement alerted the suzumebachi in the Kamizuru's clothes, and two of the large bees took flight, one of them buzzing loudly in his ear like an alarm clock. While most people got the chills from even a simple mosquito buzzing in the ear, one of the Kamizuru bees in the ear have been known to make someone's heart skip a beat from being so startled, for the volume of the buzz is increased more than tenfold. But it didn't bother Yuu in the slightest.
A sleepy hand rose to snatch the bee from his ear, wings vibrating in his hand but the gentle grip not alarming the insect into stinging. He held it in his palm and watched it take a few steps with quivering antennae before taking flight, the path it chose bringing Lien and Tiarra into his vision. The alarm brought him completely awake, and the remaining bees rose in response, buzzing loudly and irritably, stingers at the ready to fight. But, the girl was merely cooking fish she'd caught. He dismissed his five guard bees, aware their noisy aggression probably drew attention to himself.
“...thanks,” he said when a serving was pushed his way on a lily leaf. He rolled the leaf pad like a crépe, nibbling on the hot fish, eyes locked on his company. He didn't otherwise speak until both were finished with their meals, and he gripped the bow and arrow he'd set aside to eat.
“Why have you not attacked me yet, Kumoro?”
She was stuck on this side of the water with him. She'd have to dive into the water to get away from him, and he'd easily catch her like that. He wanted to know her reasons, especially knowing Lien knew he was a Kamizuru since the get-go.
The boy thanked her and ate his food. Well, he didn't suspect her for poisoning his food, that was a good start. “Why have you not attacked me yet, Kumoro?” he asked. By his voice she couldn't tell if he was surprised, or confused. Her guess would be that he probably thinks that she has some sort of a plan, or at least was trying to come up with one. She sure did try to come up with a plan. A 'how not to get killed' kind of a plan.
"why didn't I? I have no reason to attack you unless you force me to defend myself." she answered while disposing the remains of the her fish into the water and making sure Tiarra was now completely fine. "I can ask you the same thing, I know the rule about your clan, or any other clan, to encountering one of us. It's 'kill or get killed. Is it not?" She asked the boy back. "I'm well aware that you had plenty of time to kill both me and Tiarra."
"Why didn't I? I have no reason to attack you unless you force me to defend myself."
The Kamizuru's brow knit in confusion. No reason? She had no reason at all? He'd heard tell enough about the Kumoro that she could very well be lying.
"I can ask you the same thing, I know the rule about your clan, or any other clan, to encountering one of us. It's 'kill or get killed. Is it not?"
Yuu's gaze narrowed at her. She was correct. But he hadn't found out until several days into their journey and hadn't known how to deal with it.
"I'm well aware that you had plenty of time to kill both me and Tiarra."
The medic inhaled deeply, exhaling a long breath from his nose.
“I considered killing both of you.” His odd-colored eyes met her murky blue. “But that's not my way. I became a shinobi to heal and save lives, not take them away by my own hand.”
He tossed his fish bones into the water.
“How many lilies do I need to collect?”
The girl smiled at his replay. The boy wanted to take her life, he could but he didn't. She didn't know what stopped him but she would definitely be betting her guess on curiosity and doubt. The girl has already got him to think about his principles and beliefs before. She was sure that the boy's mind was a mess at the moment. The sudden change of topic must be his way to try and clear his mind and make his decisions.
"As many as possible, they are rare and have a very high value is all kinds of crafts. I might not have much need to money but as you live in the city, you do, Those plants are a great source of cash." The ginger girls spoke up and got up on her feet cleaning the dust off of her clothes. "Anyway, I assume the least i own you is information. The `outside world` is unaware of it, but for the last 20 years, the Kumoro clan has been in a war between two `camps`. Basically speaking, the smaller group, called the "Kumoro Rebels" made their goal to take over the clan, fix our reputation and settle down in one of the villages. The much bigger "Main Clan" are stuck on old traditions and is trying to eliminate all of the rebels." the girl explained. As she was putting he r cooking gear back into her bag she added: "The first rebel was a woman. She Refused to kill a man from the Aburame clan. took care of him and let him escape from the rest of the clan. It happened 20 years ago, today they are the leaders of the Kumoro Rebels, as well as my parents."
"As many as possible, they are rare and have a very high value as all kinds of crafts. I might not have much need to money but as you live in the city, you do. Those plants are a great source of cash."
The thought was nice. Yuu would nearly collect everything in this area, then, just leave a few so the plant could continue to reproduce.
“Good to know.”
"Anyway, I assume the least I owe you is information. The `outside world` is unaware of it, but for the last 20 years, the Kumoro clan has been in a war between two `camps`. Basically speaking, the smaller group, called the "Kumoro Rebels" made their goal to take over the clan, fix our reputation and settle down in one of the villages. The much bigger "Main Clan" are stuck on old traditions and is trying to eliminate all of the rebels."
Information that Yuu hadn't asked for. Still, he listened. And, the more he listened, the more confused he felt.
"The first rebel was a woman. She refused to kill a man from the Aburame clan. took care of him and let him escape from the rest of the clan. It happened 20 years ago, today they are the leaders of the Kumoro Rebels, as well as my parents."
While Yuu certainly had no love for the Aburame clan, there was still validity in her story.
“And that makes you the Rebel's heir...” he commented idly, trying to absorb all of this information. Essentially what it boiled down to was... “So basically, we are not a threat to eachother.”
Yuu himself could easily be a threat, but it was the fact that he'd openly stated he would not kill her that diffused it. Her story coupled with the fact she'd cried through the night with her identity discovered led him to believe she was not a danger to him, either. Well, if nothing else, it was a relief. Getting to his feet, he stretched, getting ready to go collect lilies from the water. As he passed by the girl, he put a hand on her head and ruffled the ginger hair, the odd antennae rough under his fingers.
“Sorry.”
“And that makes you the Rebel's heir...” the statement made Lien give out a little sound that would usually mean 'yea, right' "Officially it does, but I'm one of the best scouts the camp got so my little sister will have the position once she grows up, or maybe somebody else..."
after a short moment of silence the purple haired shinobi spoke again, “So basically, we are not a threat to each other.” Lien did her best to surpass a laugh and was successful in holding it in. "It only means that I am no threat to you. When it comes to you, it implies nothing."
After a short moment of silence, Yuu stood up, stretched and went to take care of the Lilies. As he passed Lien, the medic put his hand on the ginger's head and messed her hair a bit. The unexpected contact froze the girl in her place. the next moment she found herself pushing the guy away from her as well as jumping the opposite direction of the push to get to a distance. Huge doe-caught-in-the-light like blue eyes staring at him, shocked, while the girl's hands cover her mouth. Making a fast dash to the water edge she turned her back to him and dropped to her knees looking down into the water. Removing her hand's from her face and looking at her reflection the girl saw that her venom did not come out. "impossible...." she whispered then looked at the boy she pushed with a confused look on her face. "I don't get it.... aren't you a male?" she asked.
"It only means that I am no threat to you. When it comes to you, it implies nothing."
The medic sighed.
“If I intended to hurt you, I've had more than enough opportunity to do so, haven't I?”
He stepped onto the water and crouched once passing the girl, using a kunai to cut the stalks of lilies as he gathered them to cause minimal damage to the plants. But, he paused when the girl had made a dash to the water to the side, lurching after her. Was she going to dive in and escape? But no, the look she gave him was one of pure confusion.
"I don't get it.... aren't you a male?"
The kunai dropped in the water.
“Yes. Do not bring it up again.”
If there was one topic you did not talk to Kamizuru Yuu about, it was questioning his gender. Standing, he put his collected lilies on the shore and perched on the earth at the water's edge to pull out another kunai to continue the job. Judging by his reaction she just hit a bull's eye into his week point. He is defiantly touchy when it comes to the topic and yet she couldn't say 100% he wasn't. Sure he looked like a boy, but he has a soft, girly even kind of face. Not that it was uncommon for young men to have soft features. Hell, she even once met a man who was prettier than her own mom when if comes to feminine looks. Which is extremely hard as the Kumoro blood makes the women beautiful by default and her mom was a beauty even by Kumoro standards.
Yet hes venom did not come out.... Unless she is touched my a boy under 15, a blood relative or someone who isn't even human, it will always come out. This is the reason she told him not to touch her no matter what... Last night she was so shocked she didn't even think about it and it would have been absorbed back by her body during this time anyway but this time.... It simply didn't come out...
"When you took the job... I told you not to touch me no matter what, remember? It's not because I dislike contact with people... It's because of the venom in my body. The moment I touch a man who isn't a kid or a blood relative, even by mistake.... The venom comes out... Right now, it didn't." she gave the boy a stare. "It leaves only few options, you being a cross-dressing female, having no gender or not human to begin with, which is it? And you are obviously a human..."
