After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Yuu looked worriedly at the contents of the cabinet above the stove. Chiyoko had absolutely insisted on going by herself to the grocery store and would only be gone an hour, an hour-and-a-half at best. It had been four hours. They had plans to begin working on controlling her bees today. At first, he'd been irritated that she wasn't back yet, but now he was worried. Technically, he wasn't supposed to leave her alone for an extended period if she was to be out and about within the village. But she'd made the journey from Kusa to Iwa on her own, he thought she could at least cross a bridge to the grocery store, which he'd taken her to before already.
At this point, Yuu figured it would be a really good idea to look for her. He'd have to start at the market and see if she'd been spotted. Chi was rather identifiable, so people would know if they had seen her. Pulling on his shoes, Yuu tugged the backs over his heels, slinging his quiver with a handful of arrows over his shoulder and grabbing the bow. He'd probably need to think of other places she might go if he couldn't find her in the market.

Remembering how to get back to Yuu's house was much more of a trial when she was frightened, disoriented, and confused. The girl shivered, ears flattened, as she made the journey that seemed like a thousand miles. There was a trail of dried blood running down one side of her face from where Kashii had hit her; she barely even noticed it, as focused as she was on getting back to Yuu. He was going to be so worried...
After what seemed like an eternity - during which she'd stumbled and fallen a couple of times due to vertigo, and thus gotten herself covered in dust as well as blood - she made it to Yuu's front door, which she promptly opened without thinking to knock.
He was standing right there, and she lurched forward and clung to him. "Yuu!"
The door bursting open right as he reached for the knob startled Yuu, and before he even had a chance to register, Chiyoko's slight weight crashed into him, knocking the bow loose to fall to the carpet, taking a picture frame off a small table on its path to the floor. Yuu pulled her back, fully prepared to be angry, but he immediately noticed the dried blood caked down the side of her face, and the anger shifted to worry gain.
“What happened?” the medic asked, pulling her into the house and closing the door. Slipping the quiver off his shoulder, he gently tossed it on the floor beside the bow and the abused photo frame, a few arrows scattering out. Holding the girl's face, Yuu lifted her chin, brushing her hair away to examine the wound where the blood came from. It clearly wasn't a scratch or from a blade; the amount of bruising with it suggested a blunt object.
“Oh, how do you keep getting in trouble? Sit down and I'll clean it up, then you're going to tell me what happened.”

As soon as she was safely in his arms, she started crying, which only made her head hurt worse. "Th-there was a man a-and he..." Chi buried her face in his chest and sobbed softly, clinging to him like he was her lifeline.
At his instruction, she sat down on the couch, arms crossed over her raised knees, tail curled around her feet. The girl kept her eyes on Yuu, like he would disappear if she looked away or even dared to blink. "I-I was talking to him, and he was petting my ears... th-then he took me to an old warehouse and pinned me down. Touched me. He didn't - he didn't r-rape me, b-but.. He p-put a knife to my neck so I'd stay still. I don't know w-why he left without doing anything else, b-but I'm glad he did."
She flattened her ears, afraid that Yuu was going to yell at her for getting herself into such a mess. He had warned her... it just hadn't really sunk in.
Yuu pet the girl's hair when she started to cry, hoping to get her to calm down. Crying was often a good outlet, but it was difficult to gain information from a person in tears.
"Th-there was a man a-and he..."
Yuu's petting stalled, fingers curling against her scalp. Already, he didn't like where this going and pursed his lips. He let her go when she moved to go to the couch, heading over to the desk where his first aid kit was while she spoke. This was a very bad time for an “I told you so,” but it was true. Poor girl... that's what happens when you don't do your job, Yuu. Yuu returned to her, kneeling beside her on the couch cushion, at her right temple. Tearing open an alcohol wipe, he brushed aside the hair from her forehead and held it out of the way. Once the wound was taken care of, he could get her a cloth to wash the blood from the rest of her face.
“This is gonna sting, bear with it,” he said, gently rubbing the wipe around the torn skin. “Where did he touch you, Chi?” Yuu would prefer this being her only injury, but he'd dealt with rape cases before, and even almost-rapes could be violent. He needed to know all of what happened.

Chi hissed softly as he pressed the wipe to the wound, almost flinching away from him. "He k-kissed me. A-and he mostly just t-touched my chest." Chi paused momentarily to think back on the situation - not that she particularly wanted to, but if it was important enough that Yuu asked her about it, she needed to remember. "Uhm, he pulled my ear. An' he got my shorts most of the way down, b-but didn't touch me.. y'know, down there."
She watched him silently as he finished wiping the wound clean and got her a cloth to wash the rest of the blood off her face. She attempted to get what she could out of her hair, but with little success. A shower would be necessary to get all of it out. And, being that Chi felt dirty and violated, the shower was definitely her next stop.
"He k-kissed me. A-and he mostly just t-touched my chest." Yuu's frown deepened. "Uhm, he pulled my ear. An' he got my shorts most of the way down, b-but didn't touch me.. y'know, down there."
Interesting... if the man had really been after raping her, that was usually where they went. Either he'd been caught, lost interest, or was trying to scare her.
“Did he hurt you anywhere else?” Yuu asked, fetching her a cloth and soaking it with warm water. Squeezing it out, he returned to her, passing it off to inspect the wound more clearly.
"Yuu... a-are you mad at me?"
He was silent for a long moment, focused on the wound, which had begun to ooze again.
“...don't need stitches, at least...” he muttered, letting go of her hair. She'll probably want to clean up, so bandaging it right now would be pointless, and he instructed her to keep the cloth pressed against her head.
“I should be mad at you, but no, I'm not. You've gotten in trouble enough from this; you don't need to hear more about it from me. Go wash up if you want to, and I'll patch that up when you're done.”

She waited, tense, for his answer, and let out a sigh of relief when he replied. "I-I'm sorry. I was stupid. It'll never happen again, ever," she promised him, pulling him into a tight hug.
Chi slipped off the couch, fished a nightdress and some other items out of her bags, and trotted into the bathroom. She took a nice, long shower, scrubbing her skin red and raw. Only then did she feel clean again. The blood had washed out of her hair, and she wasn't covered in dust, and she finally felt almost normal.
After getting dressed, she brought her brush out and offered it to Yuu. "Please?" the girl asked, head tilted to the side.
"I-I'm sorry. I was stupid. It'll never happen again, ever,"
Yuu rubbed her ear when she hugged him. Now wasn't the time to be concerned about proximity with the girl, especially since she'd already figured out the secret and didn't care.
“From now on don't go anywhere without me, and it won't happen again.”
When she trotted off to shower, Yuu pulled apart his kit. The wound was too large for a normal bandage, as well as being in an awkward place. He'd need to fold gauze and tape it. She'd have a good nasty bruise for quite a while, but it shouldn't leave any lasting marks. Once she was out of the shower, he'd be able to see just how bad it was; the shampoo would get the wound very clean, as well as any blood in the hairline out that could have been a potential injury. Pulling out the things he might need, Yuu didn't open any of it, merely waiting for her to finish. It might not be as bad as he thought it was upon initial inspection.
When she finally did emerge, Yuu was slightly amused at her rather bushy appearance, clutching the hairbrush to her chest. He accepted it when she handed it to him.
"Please?"
“Yeah, but lemme see your head again, first.”
Yuu pulled Chi down to sit facing him, then brushed her damp hair aside to inspect it. Truth be told, it looked a lot better than he thought.
“Gimme a minute, then I'll brush you,” he said, holding his left palm an inch from her temple, right hand keeping her head still. Focusing chakra into his hand, the green glow covered the wound. It took a few minutes, but the skin closed over without leaving a mark, most of the bruise fading. What remained was escaped blood that needed to work its way out of the skin for it to heal completely. Taking a breath, he lowered his hands.
“It'll be tender for a while, but it's healed. You're lucky; it could have been a lot worse.”
Retrieving the brush he'd set aside, Yuu motioned with his finger for her to turn around, running the hairbrush through the long, pink hair. He wouldn't fight her tonight; she had a scary day.

"Thank you, Yuu," she murmured, obediently sitting down and allowing him to look at the wound. And just like that, with the application of medical chakra, the wound was healed. Yuu really was amazing, even if he wouldn't own up to it. Chi would love to be able to do something like that.
She turned around and settled back against him, beginning to purr as he carefully brushed her hair. Little things like this brought her comfort, and that was what she needed right now. Comfort, and also sleep. Sleep would be a nice thing, too.
Already drowsy, the girl yawned, her eyes drifting shut. Curled against Yuu, feeling safe and calm, she drifted off to sleep before he'd finished brushing. Chi snuggled up against him unconsciously, seeking the heat of his body, and ended up halfway draped over his lap, bushy tail thumping regularly against his abdomen.
It didn't take long for Chi to fall asleep against him. He had to of been exhausted. Still, he continued to brush, trying to grab hold of the twitchy tail. He couldn't reach all of it from the way she lay, but he figured doing what he could would be appreciated. Setting the brush aside, he stroked her ear, glancing up at the clock. It was going passed eight. It wasn't exactly late, but it certainly wasn't early. Calling an early night wouldn't be the worst thing he'd done. But, he couldn't sleep here. He'd either need to wake Chi up or try to move her without waking her. He'd take the latter option.
Shifting his arm under her knees, the medic ensured to grab her tail and lifted her. She shifted, but she did not wake. He was about to lay her down again when he remembered the night before, how she'd crawled into his bed after a nightmare. Waking up to a nightmare tonight after her day would be horrifying. Against his better judgment, Yuu took her to lay in his own bed instead. It wouldn't hurt for another night, and if she awoke, Yuu could ask her more things about the assailant. Yuu didn't know too many people who would do something like this, but then, he also didn't know everyone in the village. Iwa was big. Pulling the blanket over her, he grabbed some nightclothes and left.
Changing out of his constricting day clothes, Yuu abandoned them in the hamper in the bathroom, heading to clean up the supplies from the first aid kit. Once it was cleaned up, he laid the case on the work desk, heading to the kitchen to grab some fruit to snack on. He didn't especially want to go to bed yet and came out to sit at his work desk once he finished eating, clicking on the light. Pulling a notebook off the shelf, he flipped to a clean page, taking a pencil stub and scratching down plans for tomorrow. From what she had said, she wouldn't need to see a doctor. He needed to see if she could tell him anything about the man that touched her, and he could look into who it could have been.
Although Yuu could deal with nearly any injury under the sun, he couldn't handle sex crimes. Even if the medic couldn't do a damn thing about it, he could at least go to people who could and push them in the right direction. Although, it was more out of a sense of guilt that he would put so much effort into it. Yuu was supposed to be keeping an eye on Chiyoko, and if he had been, she wouldn't of gotten hurt.
Eventually happy with the messy, handwritten notes he'd scraweled, Yuu stood, leaving the notebook. He needed to pick up his weapons, then he would go to bed. Leaving his glasses on the work bench, Yuu clicked off the light and left to see if Chi was still asleep. When it seemed she was, he resigned to go to sleep as well.

Chi didn't stir as Yuu moved her into his bed and covered her up. Her tail kept twitching, and if Yuu had been looking, he would have seen her ears twitching as well - a clear indication that the girl was dreaming, and that it probably wasn't the most pleasant of dreams. She curled into a ball under the covers, whimpering softly as she slept, reaching out for the boy that was currently in the other room.
As her nightmare progressed, she grew more and more restless - rolling around the bed, clinging to a pillow, chewing on the edge of the pillow a little bit (okay, a lot, and it might need to be sewed up to prevent the stuffing from leaking out).
She still didn't wake, however - until, upon Yuu entering the bedroom, she and her captive pillow rolled right out of the bed, landing on the floor. The impact was enough to jar her awake, and she clung to the pillow, peeking up at the medic. "Yuu?"
Yuu halted midstep when Chi rolled off the bed, thudding heavily on the floor. He peered over the edge of the mattress, backstepping, to see if she was okay.
"Yuu?"
She clung tight to one of his pillows, and he went to help her back onto the bed. Did she have another nightmare? She'd seemed okay when he checked her moments before.
“Are you alright?” he asked her, checking to make sure she hadn't gotten hurt, then scratching at the base of her ears to soothe her.

Once she was back on the bed, she returned the chewed up pillow to its proper place with a sheepish look on her face. She hadn't intended to rip it open so the stuffing poked out, but her unconscious mind had had other ideas, apparently. Oh well; she could sew it up in the morning, or Yuu could, if he could sew.
"'Nother nightmare," she informed him, shifting closer to the medic as he scratched her ears. "About him." Chi curled up, practically on Yuu's lap again, seeking comfort from his warmth and presence.
Yuu raised a brow at the hole in his pillow. Perhaps he should invest in some stuffed animals for her for the duration of her stay here. Hopefully she didn't claw furniture when she was mad. But his attention returned to the girl herself.
"'Nother nightmare. About him."
Yuu continued to rub her ears even as she moved closer. She needed comfort right now, not him freaking out because a girl was so close.
“Did he say anything to you?”
Since she was awake, he could ask her some questions.
