After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

There was something soothing about the way each drop of rain splashed against the pavement. The sounds of her home. Today was a lighter rain, only droplets, really, and Seiya spun her parasol, flinging water around her in a spiral pattern from the top of it. Today was a day off from training, and the girl simply did not know what to do with herself. She'd think of something, she was sure, but until the, her bright green eyes stayed transfixed on the spray of water droplets from her spinning parasol. Perhaps she could visit the animals... or get some taiyaki. Seiya absolutely loved taiyaki. She could bring some home to Jin, as well. Yeah, she'd do that. Now with a goal in mind, the pink parasol stopped spinning, and Seiya chose a different path to the taiyaki shop.
It only took her a few minutes to reach it. Folding her parasol, Seiya set it point-side-down, tapping the water off and hanging it on the umbrella rack. Smiling at the baker behind the counter, she pointed at the fish-shaped pastries, then held up eight fingers, four on each hand. She came here often, and always bought eight
"Will that be all for you today, miss?"
She gave a nod, digging her coinpurse from her bag to pay the man, exchanging the money for a paper bag filled with fresh taiyaki. The smell was heavenly, and with a wave, she set back out. With a taiyaki in her mouth, the bag in one hand, and the parasol in the other, Seiya headed back out into the drizzle. Perhaps there would be someone to share some of her taiyaki with. More Info:
Kaede strolled along the streets of Amegakure, the droplets of rain impacting on his plastic coat with a pitter-patter not dissimilar to the sound rice made when you dropped it on the floor. After the last time the idiot had gone out in the rain without a proper coat, and had acquired a lovely cold for his troubles, he had invested in a nice one that promised to be completely waterproof and had enough pockets to contain all of his equipment and candies. He covered his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his coat and sneezed thrice, choosing to wipe his face on the coat just in case.
Being a lonely bachelor that could barely cook instant ramen, the jounin often spent his mornings prowling around storefronts looking for something good to eat. It wasn't like he had much of anything else to spend money on, and ANBU missions paid really well, so he had a ton of spare cash and nothing to do with it but stuff his face with various pastries and local delicacies. Man, if he didn't have an incredibly active lifestyle, he would totally be fat as hell by now with the amount of food he shoveled into his mouth on a daily basis.
He had paused for a moment to look at a display of fresh uirou, the sight of the multicolored cakes making his stomach growl. Kaede searched his pockets for his wallet... and came up empty. Goddamnit. Of course that was what he forgot to put in his new jacket. Sheesh. Well, it looked like he would be having a late breakfast of pork-flavored ramen when he eventually meandered home. The thought drew a sigh from the jounin. He really needed to learn how to cook.

Seiya noticed a stranger standing in the drizzle. Most of her wanted to walk right by him; Seiya didn't like guys at all most times. But something about him just made her pause and munch on the pastry dangling from her lips. She'd seen the male before, but avoided him like the plague, as she was usually known to do with any male really. But, this time was different. He was red in the face; ill, perhaps? Multi-colored hair was plastered to his head, and the multiple sneezes into the jacket sleeve confirmed it. He seemed to be looking longingly at the pastries on the other side of the glass window. Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, Seiya decided to take the risk, and tentatively approached him.
Raising the parasol so she shielded the other person's head from the drizzle, the chuunin presented the steaming paper bag of taiyaki to him, one lone fish wiggling between her lips as she munched it. More Info:
Kaede sneezed again and shook his head. Yeah, he should probably just get his soggy ass home, figure out how to make soup out of a can, and take some more cold medicine - curl up in a half a dozen comforters, crank the heat up, and sleep for fifteen hours straight. Hopefully that would help. But goddamn did he want a pastry.
Suddenly, the rain stopped falling on him. Momentarily alarmed, he looked up only to find that that was because somebody was holding a pink parasol above his head. The jounin turned to face the younger girl, and his face lit up with delight when she offered him the bag of taiyaki. He selected one and grinned at her. "Thanks, hon. That's awful sweet of you, to share your food with some idiot that can't remember where he left his wallet."
His first instinct had been to grab the girl and hug her for being such a sweetie, but a grown man grabbing a little girl he'd never met and practically squeezing the life out of her was generally frowned upon, especially in public.

Seiya was happy that the man seemed to like the offer of pastries.
"Thanks, hon. That's awful sweet of you, to share your food with some idiot that can't remember where he left his wallet."
Seiya had to smile at that one. Reminded her of Jin; he was always losing important things. Shifting the bag under her arm, Seiya took a better bite out of her taiyaki before leaving it to dangle once more and offer a second one to the stranger. He looked hungry. She had to wonder what he was doing out here in the rain when he was obviously feeling unwell. He should go back home and get something warm to drink, and lay down. The taiyaki, at least, were warm. Perhaps they would help him a little bit.
Kaede scarfed down the taiyaki, licking crumbs and custard off his lips. Man, was that tasty as hell. The fact that they were still warm only made it taste even better. Whenever he found his wallet, he'd have to visit the shop and buy, like, three dozen of the things. All at once. Yes, he absolutely could eat them all before they got stale. It wasn't healthy, but he could - and would, because sometimes he was a massive idiot.
He took another when she offered the bag again and tried actually chewing before he swallowed this time. "Thanks again, sweetie," he said with a grin. "My name's Kaede. What's yours?" Of course, the jounin had to wonder why the girl hadn't spoken yet; from his experience, teenage girls were usually chatty little things. But this one hadn't said a single word, not even a 'hello' or 'you're welcome.' That was... odd. But he wasn't going to question it. Maybe she just didn't like to talk.

"Thanks again, sweetie. My name's Kaede. What's yours?"
Seiya blinked at him, debating whether or not he would be okay to stick around. He seemed really grateful for the taiyaki and not mean... and Seiya logically knew that not all guys were cruel... well. Gripping onto the sleeve of Kaede's jacket, she tugged him towards and underneath the awning that protected the entranceway to the bakery and passed her parasol to him. With a hand free, she finished off the taiyaki in her mouth and dug in her bag to withdraw a notebook. Tucking the paper bag under an arm, she pulled the pencil from the book's spine and chose a random page that didn't already have text on it.
Kaede let the girl tug him under the awning and took the parasol in his free hand, munching the rest of the second pastry. He watched her curiously, wondering what she was doing. Comprehension dawned in his eyes when she showed him the paper. For some reason or other, the girl couldn't speak.
"It's nice to meet you too, Seiya. That's a really pretty name." He smiled brightly and reached out to ruffle her hair.

"It's nice to meet you too, Seiya. That's a really pretty name."
Seiya was about to smile in return when she saw the hand reaching for her head. An unwitting memory flitted by her eyes and she flinched heavily with a gasp when the fingers touched her hair. It's okay, Seiya, it's okay... this is not then... he is not them... Calming her breath, she looked back to the taller male and scrawled on the notebook again.
As soon as the girl flinched, Kaede drew back his hand like he'd been stung and took a step back, raising his hands in the air. "Sorry, sweetie," he murmured, eyes clouded by painful memories of his own. "I don't like being touched either.. Especially without warning. If I want to touch your hair or something, I'll ask, and I won't get mad if you say no. Promise." He offered her his pinky for a swear - childlike, yes, but you didn't break a pinky promise.
He had to wonder why she didn't want to be touched. Did she share the same sort of background that he did? Kaede didn't want to ask. That was way too personal to reveal to someone you just met... His bawling at an Iwa chuunin aside. That was a one-time incident. It had been special. And the fact that it happened would never be revealed to anybody ever. Ahem.
"So what are you up to today, Seiya? Other than feeding hungry jounin, that is."

"Sorry, sweetie." Seiya blinked. "I don't like being touched either.. Especially without warning. If I want to touch your hair or something, I'll ask, and I won't get mad if you say no. Promise."
Her emerald gaze fell to the hand he extended. The longer she was in the presence of this male, the more she felt she could be at ease around him. Transferring the pencil to her mouth, Seiya completed the pinky promise, shaking his hand once with the movement.
"So what are you up to today, Seiya? Other than feeding hungry jounin, that is."
The girl breathed a silent hum, before taking the pencil from her lips and writing again on a clean margin of the paper. Most of the pages were filled with text; she didn't like wasting the space because the pages were already written on. Sketchpads cost money, you know!
"Didn't have plans today. Was buying taiyaki because I like it and I could bring some home to my friends."
He grinned when she completed the pinky promise, a truly happy grin. Maybe he wasn't as bad at this 'being social' thing as he thought he was. Or maybe he had found the one person who wasn't bothered by his constant faux pas. Maybe it was a little odd to want to befriend a teenage girl, but hey, Kaede was pretty damn odd. There was no denying that; the piercings, tattoos, hair dye, and clothing were proof enough of that. And besides, teenage girls were less scary than the comrades that were his age. He could vaguely remember what it was like to be a teenage girl, so he figured he could kind of identify with them...
"Well, I know this cool little place if you want to hang out with a guy like me," he offered, eyes bright. Although he would be a little hurt if she refused, he supposed he could understand why. It was hard to have trust in all your comrades, especially ones you'd just met. He knew that firsthand.

Seiya grinned when Kaede did. Smiles were contagious, after all! That's why she did it so much.
"Well, I know this cool little place if you want to hang out with a guy like me."
And then her smile faded. Those were similar words that she'd heard before. Was he trying to lure her off? The uneasiness she had felt at the start started to sink back in again. Just when she thought the nervousness around a guy would fade. But, she'd never be able to move forward if she continued to let the past haunt her. Seiya was stronger now than she was then. She'd be okay. So, shaking her head to try and ease her nerves, the genin smiled once more, nodding her head.
His face fell when her smile faded, but he shrugged it off. "Hey, sweetie, it's okay if you don't want to go. We can stay here, if you want. Or I can stop bugging you, whatever you'd prefer," he offered, hugging his arms to his chest. Rejection hurt, even if it was something little like this.
He could barely contain his curiosity as to why Seiya was acting like he was going to hurt her. Kaede hadn't shown the least bit of aggression, so he had to assume that she had some kind of problem with men, and he really wanted to know what it was that had happened to the poor girl to make her that way. If it was anything like his own experience, well, he wanted to be able to comfort her, to assure her that things could (and would) get better. But he didn't want to push her or make her uncomfortable. So he was going to let her take the lead.

"Hey, sweetie, it's okay if you don't want to go. We can stay here, if you want. Or I can stop bugging you, whatever you'd prefer,"
Ah, did she offend him? She didn't mean to upset him. A worried look crossed her expression, and she reached out, hand pausing in hesitation before resting on one of the arms that crossed his chest. She shook her head; no, that's not what she wanted.
I'll go with you, she mouthed, momentarily, once again, forgetting that he can't hear her. Letting go, she grabbed her sketchbook.
