After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Reina stretched as she jauntily strolled down the streets of Iwagakure, forcing her puffy pink hair into a ponytail so it couldn't be mistaken for cotton candy (yes, that had been an actual thing that happened; one irritated woman and one disappointed toddler later...). The woman had heard a rumor that there were Uzumaki in Iwagakure, and, being that she would like to connect with some more of her family, she had been quick to journey to the village to see if this rumor was true.
She had the freedom to travel as she pleased, so why not use it? What was the point of sitting around at home doing the same old thing every day, wasting away instead of living life? The restaurant staff could manage on their own for a while, they were competent enough; if they weren't, she wouldn't have hired them.
Speaking of food... Reina had had a long day, and some tonkatsu would do her quite a bit of good at the moment. She approached a food stall, ordered some, and handed over her ryo, taking her meal over to a bench. As she ate, Reina watched the citizens of Iwagakure go about their business. She'd never been in such a large village before, so whether she found family or not, this was going to be quite the learning experience.

Fuck lions and people who were able to tame them, so fuck lion tamers in the circus as well. Bandages were clearly visible across the bare body of a young Chuunin known as Okami as he walked down the streets eating a cup of instant ramen that he borrowed from Yuu. Ever since his trip to Hi no Kuni his shoulder's have been bugging him and some advice he was given was to take a few days off to get some rest on them and to not over work them too much. Least now he could hang out at Yuu's place as much as he wanted, even though he technically did that almost everyday, at least now he had an excuse for not being kicked out.
Slurping some noodles he took a spot next to a small pink haired lady on a bench, looking over he noticed what she was eating and smiled. "Tonkatsu huh? Guy who makes them really knows how to make them memorable, pretty good food for a cheap price." the blonde smiled at the lady as he looked her over, "You don't look like your from around here, you visiting the village or something?"

There were so many people here, it was crazy. Reina didn't think she'd met this many people in her entire life, and this was just the end of day foot traffic. Imagine what the village looked like in the middle of the day, bustling and filled to capacity with its citizens. It must be amazing to live in a place like this; you'd certainly never be lonely. Compared to her little home, it felt like there were tens of millions of people around. Imagine all the business her restaurant would get in a place like this...
An adorable blond boy sat down next to her on the bench, and Reina gave him a wide smile. "It is really good," she commented in return. "Almost as good as what I make, but not quite~" Maybe she had just a teensy bit of an ego, but Reina didn't think there was a chef that could match her in all the elemental nations. There were some that came close, yes, but none that beat her old-fashioned family recipes.
"Mm, yes, I'm just passing through on my way to Konohagakure. I heard a rumor that I might be able to find what I'm looking for here, so I stopped by. It's nice to meet you, by the way - my name's Reina. What's yours?"

As good as she made? Did that mean she made some of her own too? She smelled like she spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Maybe she worked in the food business or something like that, best not to pry in Okami's mind. Especially where there were restaurants around them, a chef's pride was one of the worst things to deal with, Okami should know, he's been a little bit hurt by some critism on his own cooking.
His ears twitched as she said she was looking for something, wonder what it could be. "Mine's Okami, so your looking for something here in the village huh? What exactly are you looking for? Maybe I can help point ya in the right direction." the wolf boy said with a smile.

The people of Iwa were certainly friendly, if this Okami boy was any indication. Reina figured she would probably like it here, even if her search proved fruitless. Good people and good food were the only requirements for the woman to have a nice time, and she thought she could find both in abundance here.
"Ah, I'm chasing a rumor. I heard that there were some Uzumaki here, and well, who turns down a chance to meet more of their family?" She smiled at him, a wide, joyous smile - the woman's cheer was almost infectious, really, and would be difficult to dampen. "I figured it was worth checking out. Even if I don't find any, I'll still have experienced something new, and that makes it worthwhile."

The moment she said she was looking for some Uzumaki in the village Okami nearly choked on the noodles he was slurping as she was talking. Spitting out the bits that nearly killed him the blonde took a deep breath to regain his composure. "Uzumaki huh? Well I know where you can find. They're right over...here." he said while taking a finger and pointing towards the street full of people and slowly moving it to him as he gave her a small little smile.
"Well, to be honest Uzumaki wasn't the name my father decided to use when he married my mother, but she's Uzumaki so that sort of makes me one, right?" To think, today of all days he would randomly run into another Uzumaki, he was certain that his mother was the only one who came to this country, did she come here when he was still a kid? It was possible that she did and the blonde made a mental note to ask later, right now he was just in a daze of amazement.

Reina's eyes widened as the boy pointed to himself. Then she broke out in a huge grin and reached over to ruffle the boy's blond hair. "Well, I'll be damned. That's an awfully lucky coincidence, isn't it?" The question was rhetorical; of course it was pretty lucky that the first person she'd had a conversation with, other than the gate guards, was just who she was looking for.
"It's not my surname either, but that doesn't make us any less part of the clan. It's nice to meet another family member. Now, come here and give Reina a hug~" She set her container of tonkatsu down and pounced the boy, locking him in a tight hug that would probably be impossible for him to escape. Oh, she was just too excited to wait for silly things like permission to get all up in his personal space. Pfft. Who did that anyway?

The blonde's cheeks flushed when the woman ruffled his hair. "I'll say. I never thought I'd meet another member of the Uzumaki clan at all!" the boy exclaimed, his excitement melding with hers as she gave him a big hug, one that felt a little too tight. "Ack. Yeah nice to know you Reina-chan. Um you can let go now, kinda crushing a rib." He lightly groaned as he took in a deep breath. Man and he though his hugs were tough, guess Uzumakis really did have some sort of hidden strength in them or something.

"Ah, right. Sorry, hon, I tend to forget my own strength sometimes," she explained, sheepishly releasing him and settling for ruffling his blond hair till it started sticking up. He was younger than she was, although not by too much; he had to be in his late teens, she would assume.
"So, Okami-chan, why don't you tell me about yourself?" she asked, grinning brightly. He was adorable. She just wanted to snuggle him half to death, although she figured he would not appreciate that very much..

"Hey hey its alright. Wouldn't be the first time I've been nearly hugged to death." the blonde chuunin joked. Still, it was one hell of a surprise to feel that woman's strength and she seemed like an ordinary gal too. It sort of...made Okami reevaluate himself. There had to be some sort of secret to these people's strength and he was going to find out one way or another, but that would be a tale for another time. No was a tale of happy family reunions, starting with a little history.
"Well I was born and raised here in the village, at a young age I got into the academy, graduated not long after, made one of the best friends ever when I was a genin. Then came the chuunin exams, which I aced," the boy proudly proclaimed with a sly smile, "And its where I learned I had this little neat trick in my genes." Holding up his hand he focused his chakra into it to slowly create a sheet of pink crystal on its surface. "Pretty cool huh?"

Reina listened to him with rapt attention, making a mental note of the friend he'd mentioned and the fact that he was a chuunin. "My, that is a neat trick to be sure," she marveled at the sheet of crystal, genuinely impressed. She had never seen anything quite like it.
"Me, well, I grew up out in the country with my family. My parents were shinobi and they taught us kids the tricks of the trade. I'm not part of a village like this, though. I own a restaurant down in the Land of Tea," she informed him, leaving out the less fun details.

His ears listened to the woman's life tale like a child being told a bedtime story. She seemed like your average woman who happened to grow up in a different country, which was a surprise, did she seriously come all the way from her homeland just to find family? Impressive. "Wow, I'll be sure to stop by there sometime and maybe order a nice meal from your restaurant." laughed the blonde Uzumaki, truth and sarcasm both in his words.
"So now that life stories are swapped, shall I take you on a tour of the village Reina-san? I'm sure you've probably seen some of it already but having a guide would make it so much better wouldn't it?" the boy smiled as he placed his hand on hers.

"Food's on the house for family," she told him, grinning and ignoring the slight undertone of sarcasm in his voice. She'd whip him up a fine meal if he ever did visit.
"A tour would be lovely, Okami-chan," she agreed, taking his hand. The blonde dwarfed her - not that that was much of a challenge - by almost a foot; Reina was quite a petite woman, although her personality had a tendency to make her seem much larger.

He gripped her hand and smiled back. "I'll show you some of my favorite places in the village. Then if you want I can take ya to my place for some dinner. Sound good?" He didn't even wait for a response before walking off with the pink haired Uzumaki woman in tow. "If you want some souvenirs there's a nice little shop I know that has some cute trinkets, oh and you have to at least try some of the candy apples they sell in the village, they are to die for!" His faced beamed with happiness as showed Reina various spots around the village.

"Sounds fantastic, dear," she agreed, happily following him as he led her through the busy village. At the mention of souvenirs, she smiled - the only souvenir she wanted from this trip was a nice picture with Okami-chan, and maybe his friends too, that she could frame and hang up on her wall. That would mean more than some silly souvenir from a shop.
"If the candy apples are that good, I'll definitely have to try one!" she commented. Sweets weren't her favorite thing in the world, but candy apples were pretty fun, and she hadn't had one in forever - so why not?
so i think i'll write my own
