After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
He told her he'd be back in an hour. It had been exactly one hour and seven minutes. Having nothing better to do with her time, Seiya decided to take up Kaede's offer of looking for him if he wasn't back yet. At least she'd been told where he was going. Just as she'd slipped on her coat to head out, she felt a hand latch onto her hood, and turned back to see the red eyes of her only other male friend, Jin.
“Hey, where are you going?”
Viridian eyes met his, studying him. Well, if he came along, that would make finding her aniue that much easier, so why not?
'I'm going to look for aniue,' she mouthed to him. 'The guy who was here a while ago playing checkers with me.'
Jin glowered a bit at the thought, easily capable of reading the girl's lips. He let the curtain of sea-green bangs shroud his eyes. Seiya didn't know about the way he felt towards her, and it was probably best if she never did.
“Lemme come with you.”
The girl nodded once, grabbing her parasol as she waited for the shorter boy to grab his own raincoat. Once he was ready, they stepped out into the drizzle sharing the dry space underneath the pink canopy. It only took the pair a few minutes of walking at a fast pace to leave the gates of the village, veering off to the right where the forest lay. Seiya slowed when they breached the treeline. The thick trees made the drizzle very light here. Because the lack of rainwater pattering the earth here, she could tell something wasn't right in the air. There was a faint scent of charred something. It set her at unease.
Holding her fingers up in the seal of ram, seiya closed her eyes and focused, widening her rance of perception tenfold. She could feel Jin standing at her side. Further out into the forest she felt three chakra signatures, all faint. A moment more, and one flickered out, leaving only two. Curious about this, she focused more on the remaining two signatures. One threatened to extinguish any moment. Death. She felt her heart rate increase, and the beating increased even more when she recognized the one that was barely any stronger. Kaede.
Without a word her eyes opened and she dashed, Jin yelping at her to slow down and tearing after her. By the time she' reached closer, the stranger's chakra signature vanished altogether, leaving only the familiar one. The two ending only hastened her movement to stop the third from doing the same.
Seiya skidded to a stop in the mud when she found her target. A bloodied and battered woman laid naked on the ground in the mud. The chest rising and falling was the only indicator that she lived. But... where was Kaede? She approached closer, curving around the body until she could very visibly see the head, a head dyed in a familiar menagerie of colors that could only belong to one person.
The genin's brain didn't even have a chance to register that her adoptive brother was a woman. No, the injuries carved into his(her?) hide were taking over her brain's priority. Dashing closer she could see sings of something she was very intimately familiar with. Blood, so much blood. Bruises forming underneath what little scraps of cloth remained on her(his?) body. But when her eyes fell on the face, sliced open, the white, sticky substance filmed over Kaede's face dredged up memories she thought she wouldn't have to remember.
Beaten, bloodied, fucked and left to rot. How many had she seen left to die, covered in the fluids of the men who ruled over them? The ones who hadn't behaved as well as she herself and others like her did? Small bodies torn, burned, cut to pieces. Some still breathing—if only barely—left to suffer their grievous wounds that had only been more aggravated by the sexual trauma. Seiya had been one of the lucky few that didn't get hurt too bad and were selected for healing later. If you considered getting your throat ripped open “not hurt too bad.”
And now this. Wide eyes were locked on to the body of the person before her, showing the signs of abuse and brutal rape. Was it them? Were they back? Did they get Kaede because the jounin was interacting with her? Because she told? He...she...Kaede had been the first person she'd ever told about it. Jin didn't even know. And now her aniue was like this...
“...eiya... ...Seiya... SEIYA.”
It wasn't until the younger genin's hand cracked across the back of her skull did Seiya come back to the present, heart skipping when she focused in on the body and then twisting to look at the panic-stricken male beside her. What did they do? What could they do? Once the initial shock was over, Seiya dropped to her knees, pressing her fingers against the pulse in Kaede's neck. It was there, but it was weak. Folding the parasol, she laid it on the ground, forming the handseals to Water Snake and pulling the moisture from the ground and air to clean the filth from the Uchiha's face and body so that she could see the wounds more clearly. Pink streaks of water-diluted blood oozed from her wounds, and for lack of having her weapons, Seiya raised the folded parasol, taking the spiked end to slice through what little remained of the woman's clothes and tear them away. Deal with it, Jin, now was not the time for modesty.
Seiya pressed around Kaede's body, somewhat knowing what she was feeling for. The body of an adult was larger and harder than that of a child's, but the give under one point in the ribcage alerted her that at least one of the ribs was broken. Nothing else gave way in a direction it shouldn't. Looking up to Jin, she pointed to the torn shreds of clothing, miming picking one up and tearing it in half, moving the hands over the cuts in Kaede's arm and tying an invisible bow so he knew what she wanted. She needed bandages. Kaede would die by the time they brought back help. She and Jin needed to bring her back themselves.
Taking the strips she was given by Jin, Seiya knotted them around the gashes in the woman's body, putting pressure over the wounds. It wasn't perfect, but it was the best she could offer. Truly, Seiya had no idea what to do about the gash in the chest. Probably couldn't do anything at all. But they couldn't stop to worry about it.
Kaede had a broken rib, at least one, so carrying her would be tricky. Seiya was beginning to panic. What the hell was she supposed to do!? Taking a moment to breathe, she thought to make a litter. But from what? Could Jin and her carry Kaede? The woman didn't look heavy but... They needed to try. Getting an idea, Seiya slid her long coat off and laid it in the mud. Going around to Kaede's legs, she motioned for Jin to go to Kaede's head, gesturing to the coat on the ground. They needed to get the tokujo on it.
With Seiya at between the knees and Jin underneath the arms, the pair of young teens managed to lift Kaede onto the makeshift raincoat litter. That was easier than Seiya expected it to be, and she tied the sleeves over the Uchiha's chest to keep her locked into it. Jin shed his own raincoat, laying it on top of the unclothed form. Kaede's condition was bad enough, carrying her through the village looking this way to the hospital was not something that needed to be publicly displayed. Glancing back to the parasol, Seiya grabbed it, fastening it closed and holding it by the veins between her teeth. Damn thing was kinda heavy but it'd be alright. Grabbing the corners of the raincoat-litter, the pair moved as quickly as they could with their load back to the village.
It took longer to clear the forest carrying the woman than it had to enter it, but once the shinobi reached the gates, the problem was more easily dealt with. The gatekeepers rushed them, the matter clearly urgent by the blood on Seiya and the heavy weight apparent in the nylon fabric. Older and stronger shinobi took the broken bundle of flesh and cloth from the genin, and Seiya was held back from pursuit. It wasn't like she didn't know where they were taking Kaede, but she'd just get in the way at the ICU. She wouldn’t see Kaede until he was stabilized. She would just need to wait for the doctors to tell her something, because the hospital would be exactly where she was staying until she learned if Kaede made it. She refused to think he wouldn't. Note: Seiya is struggling with the pronouns and is falling on using “she/her” for lack of knowing better.

It was supposed to be easy. No one was meant to die.
He had been sitting on the floor, chilling with Seiya and her housemates, getting his butt completely kicked at every board game they played. Honestly, it was kind of embarrassing. But, then again, his mind hadn't really been on the games in the first place. The little girl that had placed her trust in him, that had called him aniue, that wanted to spend time with an outcast and a reject, was all he could think about. Seiya was such an amazing person, to have survived what she had and come out on the other side with a happiness and a love for life that he could only ever dream of having. His personal darkness made sure of that.
Already he was aware that the tea-haired genin was a better person than he could ever be. She seemed to want to spread her own infectious joy to others. There was a kindness in her that had died in Kaede a long, long time ago. She didn't seem to dwell on her past the way he did. She was moving on, while he was stagnating. Thus the jounin couldn't understand why she would want to have anything to do with him. There was a huge difference between offering him a pastry because he was an idiot and had forgotten his wallet and inviting him into her home and her life as her aniue. Her decision bewildered him as much as it made him happy.
Thunder rumbled. Rain pelted down upon them. Wind shook the trees. To the ANBU of Amegakure, these things were promising, not ominous. But he couldn't help but get a sense of foreboding, that little shiver down his spine.
The swan-masked ANBU that rapped at Seiya's door had clearly not been happy with him. His entire squad had split to check his usual hangouts and had found him nowhere. Then Swan had used her chakra-sensing abilities and had found him hanging out playing board games with a bunch of kids. If the mission had not been urgent, she would have dragged him out by his ear and chewed him out. Swan was fucking scary when she was irritated. But to an ANBU, nothing was more important than the mission. And Swan was nothing if not the perfect ANBU.
They'd made the journey to his house for a quick change into his gear. Kaede made her stand in the kitchen and wait for him; the two had been squadmates since he had joined the ANBU, but there wasn't a living soul he was comfortable with seeing him in his underwear. And he had a good reason. Still, he changed as quickly as was humanly possible because he didn't want Swan to come into his bedroom and hit him.
Slipping the painted cheetah mask over his face, and strapping on his standard-issue arm braces, he headed into the kitchen and out the door, Swan close behind. They met Falcon and Bear at the gates, and the squad took off, silently discussing the mission and coordinating plans.
A masked, cloaked man that sent chills up his spine. That seemed unafraid of the professional killers in front of him. For a good reason, as would soon be proven.
Kaede's role was support. He wasn't the best in straight up fights, and didn't interfere unless his squad needed help. Then he would descend to the field and trick the opponent with his genjutsu, allowing Swan or Falcon to bring them to a swift end. He was also the closest thing they had to a medic on the team currently; Shrew, their usual, was off-duty, recovering from a bad accident. And there had been no time to find another for this mission. So he needed to stay safe in order to keep his teammates safe.
At first, everything seemed to be going according to plan. Swan engaged him up close; she was the swiftest (despite Kaede having a cheetah mask), the most graceful, and the deadliest. She danced around him, lightning crackling. Falcon and Jaguar circled around the clearing, tossing senbon, kunai, and shuriken at the rogue whenever they had an opening. It was hard for Kaede to keep his eyes off her, even though he was supposed to be using his Sharingan to watch the rogue. She was just so damn perfect.
Thus Kaede flinched when the rogue punched her hard enough to make her cough up blood. The woman collapsed, and the jounin froze, staring at her immobile body, noting the rise and fall of her chest. She was alive. He glanced away from her body and - Falcon was dead. Gone. No. He bit back a sorrowful cry. The mission comes first. Mourning comes last.
So he silently descended from his tree and snuck up behind the rogue, giving Bear a signal. He could see in the other man's eyes that he understood... and that he was prepared to die if it would give Kaede an opening to kill this bastard. His heart hurt. He didn't want anyone else to die. There was only supposed to be one death in this clearing, but the rogue was still standing and his comrade was lifeless on the ground.
His heart raced. His hands trembled. He was totally unprepared for witnessing this, the death of someone he cared about. He wished he could have taken her place.
He'd snared the bastard in one of his strongest genjutsu, but it was all for naught. Moments later Bear hit the ground with a sickening crack. Kaede wanted to curl up and die. He was supposed to save his teammates, not sacrifice them.
His mind raced. He had to think of a plan and take out the bastard before he killed Swan too. If he could save her, even if he died in the process, it would all be okay. Someone had to live. So Kaede enacted a basic plan to confuse the rogue's senses. And it worked, but not well enough. His attack had connected, but with his concentration slipping, unable to focus, it wasn't enough.
Air. Where was the air? He couldn't breathe. He could barely think.
He wasn't good enough. Wasn't fast enough. Pain blossomed in his shoulder as the knife dug into the bone.
There was nothing beneath him but air. His hands grasped fearfully at anything they could reach.
He crashed into the ground, just like Bear had. But he was a little more prepared.
For a moment the world went black. Something inside of him cracked.
His ribs, not his already-broken heart.
'Surely you can't forgive your comrades after they've abandoned you to me.'
They had done nothing wrong. This bastard had slaughtered them like their lives meant nothing. What was left of his fighting spirit arose.
'You don't scare me. And neither does death. So do your fucking worst.'
He doubled over. The pain was like nothing he had ever felt. And in his attempt to quell it, he had revealed something he never wanted anyone to know.
'I see. That's why you wouldn't mind dying... you're already running from yourself.'
Kaede's mind was a turbulent tornado of regret. Of hate. For this bastard murdering his squad.
But mostly for himself. Never had he hated himself so intensely as in this moment.
He knew what was coming next. Of course he did. It was his fault. It was all his fucking fault.
'You'll wish you were dead.'
Unbeknownst to the rogue, he already did.
He didn't have a happy place within his mind to flee to. He felt it all. Every single bit.
At the end, he was tossed aside. A broken doll no longer worth playing with. He had already been broken to begin with. So what was he now?
He knew the rogue would show him no mercy. The man departed, and the clearing was eerily silent, the steady beating down of the rain fading into the background. Kaede curled into a ball, his knees pulled up to his chin, shaking hands clasped together. He could feel the blood leaking from all of his wounds. No, there would be no mercy kill. But by the time anyone found him, he would be dead, and that was a mercy in its own right. His suffering would be over.
He doubted any sacred spot in the afterlife awaited him, but that was alright. There was nothing the devil could do to him that would be worse than what he was put through in life.
He didn't even believe in a god because he knew there was no god that would sit by and let children be victimized.
Kaede was fading fast. He hadn't saved them. He hadn't saved any of them. Not even Swan. Swan...
He had no will to live. He couldn't do it. It wasn't possible. He welcomed death's embrace with open arms.
His last thought before he lost consciousness was of Seiya.
His bright little imouto that was better off without him.

It had been days before Kaede had been released from the ICU and Seiya had been allowed to see her. Every time she saw Kaede, more and more questions she wanted to ask arose, but she just wanted Kaede to wake up. That was the absolute most important thing. She would often touch the jounin's face, remembering the morbid jester's smile that had been carved into it. What if it had been her fault all of it happened? Because she told Kaede things she had never told anyone. And then this. It took all her willpower not to cry in front of the unconscious tojuko. Just when she'd finally decided to open up to someone, something horrible happens to them. It was a ghastly pattern that had followed her throughout her life.
It just so happened that she had not been at the hospital when the messenger reached her. As the sole visitor for Kaede—it hadn't appeared that anyone else even cared—it was only fair that she was given the message that he'd woken up. The genin didn't feel like she could run fast enough to the hospital, tearing through the corridors towards the Uchiha's room, deaf to the angry hospital staff. She burst through the door of room seven-oh-nine, startling the nurse who was at the broken woman's side. As much as she wanted to tackle Kaede after seeing the very much awake pink eyes, she had personally seen her injuries and knew better than that. It didn't stop her quick approach and arms going around the older woman's neck. The tears she'd managed to conceal with the tokujo asleep had spilled over with the relief that she was going to be okay. Kaede was going to be okay.

The first thing Kaede did upon waking up and realizing he was in the hospital was attempt to rip the IVs out of his arm. The nurse that had been checking on him at the time didn't really appreciate that. He was told that if he tried something like that again, they'd bolt his arms down. Sheesh. He was also very aware of the extra security around his room. He'd been in the hospital enough times for the same reason that he supposed it would be automatic to put him on suicide watch, regardless of the reason he was admitted. Logical, yes, but very inconvenient for a man that would very gladly slice his wrists open with anything he could possibly find in the blank white hospital room.
His heart damn near stopped when he saw a familiar face standing in the door to his room. What the ever-loving fuck was she doing here. He shot up, giving the attending nurse a glare. "I swear to god, there had better be a good fucking reason you're letting this little girl into this room," he snapped. It wasn't that he didn't want to see Seiya. Well, at the moment he kind of didn't. It was mostly that he didn't want her to have to see him this way. He didn't want her to see him at all. In fact, he had sort of planned on being dead before she showed up.
The nurse gave him a cool glance. "This young lady saved your life," she informed him, and his heart nearly stopped again. Seiya had found him? Holy shit. He covered his face with his hands, ashamed, not able to look at her. Holy shit. He knew what state he'd been in when he lost consciousness. Naked, bruised and beaten, slashed up, covered in blood and other.. fluid. She didn't need to see that. Not again. Not again.
He jerked away from Seiya's hug, eyes alarmed. His silent pleas for the nurse to make her leave went unanswered. Why are you doing this to me, world?

Seiya felt everything in her chest get absolutely crushed at Kaede's response to seeing her. A “good fucking reason?” “This little girl?” As if she were some stranger Kaede despised? She lurched away from the Uchiha when she pulled out of Seiya's grip, the look in those pink eyes making her wonder if she wasn't wanted here at all. Did Kaede blame her, too? Regardless of what anyone's reasons were, there was one thing Seiya knew on a fundamental level: Kaede was scared. So, Seiya waved at the nurse for attention. Seiya had ensured they'd given Kaede a nurse that understood sign language so she could easily communicate with them, and formed her hands through words.
'Can you please leave me alone with Kaede? I need to talk to her.'
"Sure, maybe you can talk some sense into her." Seiya raised a brow. "Right, you know what I meant."
The genin pivoted to watch the nurse leave, and when the door clicked shut, Seiya pulled the curtain closed. It was then that she turned back to Kaede, tears in her eyes again. Sure, she was hurt that she'd acted that way about her. But even more, she was mad. Seiya'd come here every single day, even the days she wasn't allowed to see her. And Kaede acted like tthis? Of all people, Sieya figured she'd be the one Kaede would want to see most. Seiya was able to empathize with her. Why Kaede had pretened to be a boy was beyond Seiya, but that was a topic that could be addressed when she wasn't about to yell at him. Well, not like he'd hear her yell, but it didn't stop her from trying. The fire in her eyes would speak for her. It was good to vent sometimes.
'Why do I need a good fucking reason to be here? I'm just some little girl?' She approached his bed. 'Do you have any idea how scared I was to find you laying there like that? Do you have any idea how many times I've seen the same damn thing, with friends dying?' The girl put her hands on the bed, tears spilling. 'I'm old enough now that I don't have to helplessly watch as I lose one more person I decided I could get close to. I came here every god damned day to make sure you were okay. And this is what I get, ani?'
Not that he could hear her, not a word of it. Possibly a chance of lip-reading, but that was only if he was looking at her. Her hands shaking, she signed one word.

Seiya pulled the curtain shut, and he looked up at her, feeling like an absolutely terrible person because of the tears in her eyes. And then she started yelling. He couldn't hear the words, but she definitely got her meaning across. Kaede stared at her, eyes wide. I'm awful. I'm a complete and total piece of shit.
"Seiya, no... I didn't mean it like that." His voice was hoarse, he noticed; how long had he been out, exactly? Whatever. That wasn't important. His imouto-chan was. His trembling arms lifted the girl onto the bed beside him, and he hugged her tightly. "You're the only person in the world that I want to see right now. But it kills me. I didn't want you to ever see me like... like that." He couldn't even say it. "I... I thought I could protect you. Keep you from ever having to see that happen again. And then I go and let it happen to me. I'm so sorry, Seiya. I'm so sorry."
He was crying and didn't even try to hide it. Partly because she had thought he was upset with her. Partly because of what he was planning to do as soon as they let him out of this godforsaken place. He would make damn sure she didn't find him this time, though. Kaede didn't want her to hurt any more, and he still thought the best way to do that was remove himself from her life.

Seiya's hug was more welcome now, and her shoulders shook when she squeezed against Kaede. She listened to her speak, incapable of answering Kaede until she was let go. She stroked the older girl's hair as she cried; Kaede needed the comfort more than Seiya did. The genin waited until the crying calmed before pulling away so she could answer her. Holding Kaede's face, Seiya shook her head, very, very gently tracing her fingers over the bandages where the gashes in Kaede's cheeks were. How lucky the tokujo was.
'I'm not someone who needs protected,' she signed to the Uchiha. She turned Kaede's head so she could look into the pink eyes, mouthing the next words. 'There is no keeping me from seeing that. I always see it happening. During the nights, whenever I'm left to wander alone. It's something I'll never forget.' She released Kaede's face so she could sign again. 'Those memories don't define me, and they don't define you. I want to teach you that.'
Yeah. Seiya would protect the tokujo. From herself if need be. Seiya hadn't always been so bubbly, and it was because of that that she knew how to support Kaede.

Seiya seemed infinitely more mature than he was, he thought as he rested against her, taking comfort in her warmth. Even though she was still so young and small, he felt safer with her in the room. It was inexplicable, but that didn't stop him from holding her close.
Even though her touch was gentle, he flinched back when she traced over the bandages on his face. Kaede wanted to protest that yes, she did need protected, so nothing horrible would ever happen to her again, but the look in her eyes convinced him that he should just keep his damn mouth shut.
"Okay, sweetie." Mostly he just wanted her to be happy again. If agreeing to whatever she had planned made her happy, then that's what he would do.

Seiya was satisfied with Kaede's answer. Glancing up at the clock told her that visiting hours were nearly over. She sighed. It was a huge relief that the woman was awake and seemed to be okay. Hopefully she could find out a discharge date.
'I need to get going, it's getting late. I'll come back tomorrow.' As she turned to leave, Seiya paused in mid-step, giving a somewhat awkward hobble. Oh yeah. The girl turned to look back at Kaede, gaze dropping to the set of bulges beneath the hospital gown. That was something she wanted to address. 'There's one more thing I want to ask about before I go,' she signed, approaching the tokujo. A bit of jealousy bubbled in her chest. Reaching out with her left hand, Seiya latched on to Kaede's left breast. She didn't need to say what her face read.

"Yeah? What is it, hon?" he asked, figuring it would just be some little thing. He was completely unprepared to be groped by his little imouto-chan. What. Kaede was dumbstruck; his jaw dropped and he stared at the genin, the most expressive 'what the fuck' expression on his face. What on earth would possess her to just grab his chest?
It was then that he realized she still stood there, expectantly, waiting for him to come up with something. Wide-eyed, he scooted back and folded his arms over his rather large chest. Stupid hospital and not letting him wear his binder. "Uh... they're boobs. Don't ask right now, please. I'll tell you later," he promised. "It's.. not something I like to talk about. Especially not where other people can hear. Okay?"

"Uh... they're boobs.” Well no shit. "Don't ask right now, please. I'll tell you later. It's.. not something I like to talk about. Especially not where other people can hear. Okay?"
Viridian eyes narrowed at him. 'Fine.' She gave one last grope before releasing, hand going to her own small chest. That was so unfair. Where had Kaede been hiding those things? And why? What Seiya wouldn't give to have some girly curves like that to make herself feel prettier. The full pout had already formed on her lips by the time her gaze turned back to the older woman. She was definitely going to get Kaede to talk about that.
'Let me know when they decide to discharge you,' she signed before heading out the door.

It felt like he had been in the stark white room for a fucking eternity. Okay, so maybe it had only been a week, but seriously. If he saw one more plate of disgusting hospital food, he was going to lose what was left of his mind.
Kaede had never been so happy to see a doctor in his life as when one walked through the door with his discharge papers in hand. He signed a couple of things, nodded at the appropriate times as the man droned on, and promised he would follow the rules and restrictions on the folded paper he had been given.
He didn't have any clothes to put on, so he asked a nurse if she could please pick him up a sweatshirt and pants and add it to his bill. She was happy to oblige. Man, it was so nice to wear actual clothes again. At least the long sleeves of the sweatshirt covered the giant bruise from the IV on his arm.
The tokujo signed himself out, and left a message for one Kurosaki Seiya to be notified of his release. He had promised, after all. And then he was free. Breathing in fresh air, being pelted by rain drops... after the stifling dry heat of the hospital, Ame's climate was such a relief. He headed home as quickly as he could, before anybody he knew could see him with, well... breasts.
Upon arriving at home, he read the restriction paper. Pretty simple. Don't stress himself. No strenuous activity (aka a week or so off duty). Other standard stuff. And... no binder. Well. Guess who wasn't leaving the house until he could wear one. He had enough ramen in the house to live without going grocery shopping.
He opened a cabinet and pulled out a bottle of sake, hands shaking. Then he went over to his stock of extra weapons and retrieved a kunai. The Uchiha quietly slipped into his closet, the door closing with a click. He was finally alone.
Seiya wouldn't find his house before the deed was done. Everything would be okay.

Seiya clutched the letter tightly to her chest, raindrops pelting the webbing of her parasol, as she rushed her way to the hospital. Kaede was free. She had soooo many things she wanted to talk to the tokujo about, but she knew exactly where she wanted to begin. The problem was, when she reached the hospital, Seiya quickly realized that Kaede was not there. For as often as she visited, she had no idea where the Uchiha lived. She'd noticed that Kaede's room had guards posted where the others didn't, and found one of the women who'd been guarding the gate, so to speak.
"Do you know where Uchiha Kaede lives? I want to visit her."
The gaze was skeptical, but hey, the kid wanted to take over babysitting duty. That was perfectly fine with the woman, and she took the sketchpad, drawing a small map accompanied by the address. When Seiya finally located the house, she found the door locked. She couldn't imagine where Kaede would have went if not straight home, so she knocked on the door. There was no answer. However, she could sense someone's chakra inside. By the feel of the flow, that person was awake. Kaede was inside, and she knocked on the door harder, enough that she should be able to hear no matter where in the house she was. Kaede was awake, and not moving, and she was worried. She knew well enough that his state of mind might not be too good, and until now he hadn't been left alone.
She performed handseals, pulling water from the rain that fell around her, a moving snake of water slithering in the air. She forced this water into the lock of Kaede's door, congealing as much as she could inside of it. Once satisfied that no more water could fit in, she froze it entirely. The ice expanded as it froze, and as it had no place to go inside the locking mechanism, the more delicate parts broke from the increased pressure. Melting the ice she gripped the handle with both hands and twisted. The lock broke the rest of the way, and she pushed the door open.
The interior of the home was, unsurprisingly, unfamiliar. She closed the door behind her, wanting so badly to call out to the Uchiha. She doubted the older woman would answer her even so, so that meant hunting. She could sense a body in the northwest area of the house and moved in that direction, nosing around for the doors that would get her to the desired location. She found herself in a bedroom and looked around. Kaede was here somewhere...
Green eyes noticed the handle of a closet door on the wall. There. Going to open it, the first thing that struck the girl was the smell of alcohol. Kaede looked so miserable. The second thing that caught her eye was the glint of a kunai in his hand, blood seeping from a wound in his wrist. There was a sharp intake of breath, and the girl wrenched the weapon from the tokujo's hand, making contact with the pink eyes, and flung it away where it clattered loudly against a wall. Gripping the bleeding wrist tightly, the girl pulled the woman from the closet, dropping to her knees so she could hug the Uchiha tightly, grip not lessening on the wound in the wrist.

He had barely made the first cut when he heard the clatter of shoes on his hardwood floors. Shit. Um. Shit. Seiya was here. It wouldn't be anyone else; of course it wouldn't.
Kaede didn't expect her to launch herself at him and take his kunai. The man sat there in shock, just watching her as she dragged him out of the closet and put her arms around him. You idiot. You idiot. You idiot. The words rang over and over in his head.

The feel of Kaede's curves against her chest was surreal, for all the other times she'd hugged this person she'd had a solid, flattened chest. When Kaede started crying, Seiya shifted to a more comfortable sit on the floor, holding the older woman and stroking her hair. She didn't say anything more; there were no words to be hand, but she kept her hand firmly gripped around the bleeding wound. Once Kaede calmed more, Seiya would treat it.
Once the sobbing slowed, Seiya squeezed Kaede's shoulders and lifted the tokujo's head, giving a gentle kiss to the forehead.
