After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
This day could've not have gone better for the small troupe of thieves running around the Fire country. Usually days were a bummer for them, seeing as travelers were really hard to find but guess lady luck decided to draw them some luck apparently. The two goons that were making their way to the meeting point
"Ya think the boss will like what we got?" the tallest one asked, looking over to his companion.
"Dunno but the bitch should. We've brought her something nice. That stupid fox did not see it coming either" he responded.
That said the two crossed clearings of trees after trees while about two miles over miles over a silver haired woman sat at top a tree branch, dagger in one hand as she removed the gunk from between her hands. It was bright tonight so the short strands of silver draped down her shoulders and back as she sighed a bit, her form not that well hidden by the bright moon
"Just where in the fuck did those two go... I swear if their wasting the money before counting over what we got, someone's going to be in some trouble." she said, stopping the cleaning to look at her reflection on the dagger and grumbled "I better go find those baboons" she uttered as she slowly got up from the branch and pushed on her feet, trying to make her way to where those two were coming from.
With luck it took her little to no time finding them and dropped in front of them, crossing her arms "What took you so long?" she asked, only to look the two over and reaching behind the tallest one, snatching the bag from his hold and raising a brow "This is it?" she asked. A single damn bag? The was certainly stupid. But she'd take a few steps back and opened it, only for a large orb like thing to shine thanks to the moon light. The female reached in and pulled it out, observing the beautiful item with her mismatched eyes "...For once you two bring me something interesting... What is it?" she asked.
The two males reached their hands to the back of their had simultaneously. They didn't know... That... did not help... At all. And her complexion showed it

Golden eyes shimmered red in the moonlight, normally slitted pupils wide. Lowe had enlisted Konohagakure for help, and what did he receive? A child and her master. The taller redhead looked promising but... well, he wouldn't dismiss the girl completely. If he could guess her age, he'd say about fifteen. Not too much younger than himself, really. But her face read a little younger... well, he'd have to see. Letting assigned allies die wasn't in his schedule, so it didn't really matter how well these helpers performed, as long as the job got done.
The job, you ask? Lowe's belongings had been stolen by a group of three other shinobi, one at least more powerful than himself. Everything else was replaceable, mostly. What was irreplaceable though was his Hoshi no Tama and he'd risk anything to get it back, even his own pride.
“Where is our third party member?” the fox asked the young blonde girl eventually.

stars rise and stars fall
Inori had been oh so excited to be assigned a C-Rank mission with only Shikashu-sensei and the client for company. No, really, she was absolutely ecstatic. There was nothing else she would rather be doing.
Actually, wait. She'd rather be sleeping, and she still would be if she hadn't been woken up for this mission. Not that she was going to complain; she might gripe a little internally, but she was too mature to go mouthing off to her sensei because she was somewhat inconvenienced by someone needing their help. At least, she'd like to think that was the mature way of handling it.
She smoothed her grumpy expression into a placid smile, double-checked to make sure she had everything she needed, and headed out to meet the client and her sensei. To her surprise, the man was some sort of fox-man, with a whole bunch of wavy tails and fuzzy ears to match. That was interesting. And - not surprisingly - sensei was already there. He was a little more punctual than she.
"There isn't a third. Sensei and I are the only ones assigned to help you. I can assure you that we're all you'll need. Konoha shinobi know how to get the job done." The corners of her lips turned upward into a friendly grin. The least she could do was be civil.
The details of the mission were simple. Assist in the client in retrieving his belongings. Normally on a C-Ranked mission he would be assigned a full team to lead, however that was not the case. Amaya had been MIA for some time being busy as an Uchiha. He didn't even have a full team to begin with, so all he had was Yamanaka Inori. She, however, would be all he would need.
Immediately upon receiving the details of the mission he had decided to send out four shadow clones in each of the four cardinal directions from the location of which the incident had occurred. It was imperative that they located the culprits fast before they could pawn off their stolen goods. So for now his clones were on the hunt searching for clues as to the thugs' whereabouts, and possibly even find the thugs themselves.
Meanwhile the real Shikashu quickly gathered any tools he deemed necessary and went to meet with the client. He was quick, arriving even before his student, and gazed to the client when he spoke. The client's voice was rather calm despite a distinct taste of irritation to it. His tails moved with grace. Everything about him seemed so fluid, so graceful, it was simply breath taking. Or rather it would have been if their situation had been different.
"He was referring to me I do believe Inori," he spoke as he landed on the ground near by having taking to the roof tops and lingering there for a bit while awaiting the arrival of his student. "You're name is Lowe, correct? I am Nara Shikashu, this is Yamanaka Inori..." He jabbed a thumb in her direction, "I've already sent out shadow clones to scour the area for the perpetrators. For now we should depart to the location of the incident and attempt to pick up their trail. Do you object?"
The female let out a heavy sigh as she came to the conclusion the two oafs knew nothing of what she needed to know. This was just incredibly perfect!
...Not. Seriously, the two idiots were the worse choice for lackeys she ever picked, lets admit to that. The female would just sigh yet again before letting her mismatched eyes look over the orb again. She was curious over what the thing actually did. It was too big for a jewel and far too beautiful looking to just be an artifact. Was it a weapon? What that it?
She didn't know. But heck if that was going to stop her from keeping the thing for herself. It was then that she mumbled something "We should probably get going... And by we, I mean me. Pretty damn sure you two oafs got followed so your staying behind and providing me with time to get to the base and you're not to come meet me till you're sure you've lost the trail."she said.
The blonde one was about to open his mouth when the female glared at him "And I'm certain I don't need to remind you what will happen if you try coming up with some bullshit excuse for now following orders... Do I?" man the woman was not in a good mood.
The blonde male shut his mouth and looked at his companion quietly as the female packed up what they brought in with them and smirked "This also means you'll have to survive whoever is coming if you want share of the loot" and with that the female would jump up a tree and waved at them "See you two idiots later" and moved away.
They either survived this or she'd end up having a bit of work in her hands. Not that she minded getting her hands dirty but this area was not the best for her to fight in. No she had a better plan in mind and it was over in her base of operations. Funny enough it was in a shack not that far off.
"There isn't a third. Sensei and I are the only ones assigned to help you. I can assure you that we're all you'll need. Konoha shinobi know how to get the job done."
The gypsy arched a snowy brow. Could the girl not count? That seemed quite... promising. Before he could so kindly correct her, the person in question appeared, silencing words that had not yet been spoken.
"He was referring to me I do believe Inori."
A nod to the male confirmed the clarity. So the girl's name was Inori, was it? Shimmering crimson-gold eyes studied the taller male who spoke.
"Your name is Lowe, correct? I am Nara Shikashu, this is Yamanaka Inori..."
Another nod confirmed the statement.
“Tama Lowe.”
"I've already sent out shadow clones to scour the area for the perpetrators. For now we should depart to the location of the incident and attempt to pick up their trail. Do you object?"
“Not at all.”
Lowe's tails writhed as he listened, each moving independently of the others, making them come alive like the flames they represented. When the plan was divulged, he easily flitted away, going to the location where the incident had occurred. Lowe didn't move at a slow pace; his company were shinobi, so he was confident they could keep up with whatever pace he chose to set.
When they arrived where the damage occurred, it was clear there were signs of struggle. There were gouges in the ground as well as the grass being burned, but Lowe had given up once his orb had been taken. He was a prideful beast but not a stupid one; once the orb was taken he knew he had no chance at winning and had openly called defeat. The manner of which is was done, though, that would be one he wouldn't think about. Absolutely disgraceful.
From this point, he looked to the commander, Shikashu.
