After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Actually just trains, unless anyone's into the idea of aviation, which I'm sure you're not. But it would be cool if you were. I see that going down pretty poorly as far as sneak attacks go, though.
As the site plot is set 300 years into the future, it would be acceptable to assume everyone's not retarded and there would be technological advances. Probably a couple more spiffy things at home but what I think should really need to happen is transportation. By now everyone has figured out that it's inconvenient to travel 200 miles on foot. It just is. I say create trains that go across the countries. Have a stop at each border, a stop in each of the other villages, but the stop for the hidden villages be about ten miles or something out (although I'm pretty sure everyone knows where they are now due to maps, they're not so hidden anymore.) Not only aiding the shinobi but it also means civilians can travel to other countries and have actual vacation. Visit the local sights. Create booming business for the locals, because Suna has some pretty neat wind shit and no one really wants to cross the desert on foot to get there. It can be genin/Chūnin missions to escort civilians to the actual hidden villages, via horse and buggy cart or something.
There can be a neutral shinobi service that can base out of a coupe lesser nations who are in charge of guarding and running the railways, because let's face it, a bunch of people in a closed space? A rather easy target. But it is a necesary evil. It also allows transportation of goods, as up until before transportation was involved, perishable items, well, perished. A trip that may take up to two weeks could take only a couple days. That in itself is another business that brings money in. There would likely be other advances as well, but there would be a line. No firearms, probably no automobiles. In the third naruto movie they went to a Crescent Island and they had a car (looked like one of the original fords lol), but I don't feel they should have cars.
I can't think of any more at the moment, since trains is such a good idea it's flooding my brain. How about bicycles? Never see any of those do you? Maybe I don't want to run everywhere. Maybe I wanna take a relaxing bike ride. Across bridges that span between spires in a mountain because I live in fucking Iwagakure but that's besides the point.

Neutral ground too. The trains could have postal service which would increase message transportation; hell they could have telegraphs or dail-y telephones. Beep beep beep. Be zones where different Shinobi can meet without aggression; another way to roleplay with people from different countries more easily. Like small mixed tourist villages. Be kind of like a casino; those villages run by civilians only, as casinos can only be run by native Americans. Have hotsprings and other attractions too. Things like this would make RP a whole lot easier so that you're not bound to playing in your own village. Also the option of law enforcement. There can be Jōnin stationed to live there or something to ensure the peace is kept. A different headband for each of them that bears the symbol of that village so that the wrong-doers aren't biased since, as it's neutral, there's a possibility of different countries mixing together? Could also be morning shift, day shift, night shift deal so that the people who work there can go home and not be stuck there.
Can be a sub-board in each country, each one has a single neutral train-stop village. Doesn't have to be anywhere near the hidden village. I think it would be cool if Suna's was at an oasis. XD Jounin that work there can take shifts too. Like, two weeks as guard then another comes to take their place and they resume regular village duties. Kind of like an enforced, paid vacation except you still have to do your job.

If there can be television and movies in the canon world I'd like to formally propose we can have music players too. It doesn't have to be fancy modern tech, just portable, like a Walkman.

I agree, but I'll see what mark says. I'm down with pretty much anything except planes, and guns, and cars, steam/coal powered trains are fine with me though. Maybe include that in the plot.
