After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Alias: "The Immortal Challenger" Nomura/Maō Age & DOB: 19 & May 5th Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Village: Iwagakure no Sato
Rank & Position: Chūnin w/ Yuu and Okami. Chakra Nature: Doton - Earth Chakra Manipulations: N/A
OOC Name: Maō Other Characters: - Rules Password: Taco Tuesday
Appearance
Maou has brown messy hair, with hazel eyes. He is pretty good looking, but far from the best looking guy on the market. He has light skin, a bit tanned enough that people that get close enough can see it. He is five foot, ten inches and around one-hundred and ninety something pounds, which means that he's heavier than he looks.
Maou is fit and athletic, though small for a guy of his age and size. He has a cut form, with his muscles built upon his training in striking martial arts as he focuses not on gaining superior strength and muscle mass but a fit body which allowed him to stay slim yet powerful. Maou in terms of "specialty" as a martial artist is a "technical-type" meaning that his physique is fit more for sharpness and speed than pure muscle power and endurance.
Because of his like of martial arts, he dons light-fitting clothing like sleeveless shirts and shorts that have a high-cut which allows him to move the way he wishes to unlike sleeved clothing. Sometimes he can be seen wearing bandages on his hands, it's called a trademark of his by many of his friends or associates. Hoodies are a main-stay to what he likes to wear, having a variety of styles and colors to fit whatever he wishes. This is because to himself, hoodies symbolize his place as always "challenging" everything.
Personality
Playful - Maou is very playful to friend and foe alike. He doesn't take most things seriously, unless it's competitive and in most cases doesn't take that seriously either. He especially likes to street fight, brawling against strong foes being where he shows both a playful yet strong side. Rarely does he get angry at others, and is very easy to get along with, however some may dislike his lack of seriousness which may cause bad blood to boil among his peers and friends.
Kind - Although Maou does like fighting, he is a fairly kind person who doesn't wish to kill anyone unless its the only step he can take after trying everything else. He does however understand that fighting can bring out the worst in people. He can sometimes give things to people as charity, though he never allows people to walk all over him, he is not above allowing a person's pride give them the "win" on occasion. He will also help a person that has nothing to do with him, just because he feels like it.
Loyal - He has great loyalty with those he befriends, even if for a short time. He believes that friendship is key to increasing his strength. He will protect his "friends" even if they do something bad. Though he won't allow their "bad deed" to go unpunished and will knock them back on track or off their egos. He can also border on gullible towards his closest friends.
Frugal - Maou rarely spends too much money, nor is he very greedy when it comes to monetary rewards or valuables. He would easily give away the clothes on his back to protect someone else, should they need him to. He takes care of the things he has because he hates spending too much on something. He tries to find the best deals to keep most of his money. All of this is because his habits of training, and his personal generosity.
Battle Fanatic - Maou is a fight monger, he is highly interested in fighting skilled opponents for fun, rather than for survival. He takes fights against most opponents seriously, especially against those who are skilled in their own martial skills (weapons or unarmed). He understands multiple skills, and practices his martial arts everyday. He has a penchant for boxing though, as it was his first martial art and he uses the footwork and has adapted it to multiple other skills he has learned. When it comes to explaining a martial technique, he is considered a "walking encyclopedia" despite not being exceptionally book smart.
Sarcastic - Thanks to his playful nature he also has a weird sense of humor for most things. He is not easy to understand, and can even come off as a jerk when it comes to his jokes. But he usually means well, and tries to see the fun in anything.
Prideful - Yes he is playful, but he can be competitive, too. Sometimes he takes things too far when he meets a strong adversary, and has a powerful will thanks to that pride alone making him very stubborn. Although he doesn't get angry when others talk about him, his friends, family and peers are different. He will fight tooth and nail for an apology someone who bad mouths his friends if they are sacrificing something, even if it's another friend.
Emotional - Maou can be emotional, not controlling his emotions well in desperate situations. Depending on what happens, he tends to roll greater with what he considers more logical in perception though becomes more instinctual when someone uses things that are important to him as a catalyst and shows a seething anger (though he doesn't actually show it and just does what he feels) or whatever entails, also showing regret and anguish when something serious happens and he is the person at fault. He even cries when he is happy or sad about a certain event, not believing that men should hold back their emotions. The biggest event that makes him saddest is his fathers death, which will instantly cause him silence and withdrawal changing his personality for a moments time, thus he doesn't like to talk about it. He holds a grudge against opponents who hold their wins or beat him and it's not for sport, usually making strong fighters his rivals on the spot.
Selfish - Although a kind person, Maou can be selfish too. He doesn't mind giving up small things, or doing tasks that have smaller values but usually does what he feels he wishes too without asking the opinions of others. He takes matters into his own hands, and is one to take responsibility for his actions if the need should arises and is reasonably understanding of what punishments may come to him, but otherwise, he likes his own personal freedoms.
A piece of trivia for those who like psychological concepts. In terms of a freudian trio (the three sections of overall personality) - Yuu is the Ego, Maō is the Super Ego, and Okami is the Id.
History
As a young man, Maou has always had an enthusiasm for fighting. His mother being one of the stronger close-combat fighters in the Iwagakure no Sato shaped him to becoming someone enthusiastic to be as strong as she was. As a kid he didn't know his father, who had died while he was still a baby, on a dangerous mission, making his mother a widow. None-the-less, his mother was often considered a tom-boy, and through her own dangerous ways, taught him to become a man.
Growing up, he often got into fights, and was considered a bully-hunter in the academy. He disliked it when stronger people attacked weaker ones often using the strong genes gained from his mother and father to be capable of fending for himself even as a young boy. This also led to his mothers wrath when he got home, which also led to his continuous endeavors of training when he got older. He tried to imitate his mothers training (that had been seen).
He excelled at taijutsu in the academy because it was the only thing he really studied thanks to his enthusiasm, leaving all his other marks dreadfully low. He would often get into trouble with teachers over this, as they said multiple times that their were far more skills than just taijutsu in the world. His mother made him study, much to his dismay and agony, and used his inability to get good grades as a reason to not feed him his favorite foods (shish-kebabs and honey dango) or train him until he straightened up. Needless to say, he grew remarkably better in that short period, though the scores were still lower than his taijutsu ones.
He would graduate the academy at age thirteen and go on to be a genin. It was a refreshing feeling, to go out into the world and become the top brass by training with ninja. Maou wanted to go and see the world, but his mind was one-tracked, considering his mother, he wished to become the ultimate hand-to-hand combatant. This would set him on the path that he would follow for the rest of his life. Garnering new techniques and training himself to the utmost limits was a must, after all.
His mother told him he had a lot to learn, but he didn't listen. It wasn't without its hardships though, as he tried to climb the obstacles, he was pushed back down by the different things he experienced. Ninjutsu, genjutsu, intelligence... everything thrown at him was difficult to overcome, and through the folly of his hubris he almost died multiple times in combat, almost getting his comrades killed too. It was at some point after that year, when a revelation was made that he wasn't strong. That he was truly weak. A big fish in a small pond, so to speak.
He didn't cry about his weakness, he went and talked to his mother. To train him the same way she did. She commented on such dangers, and said that without first proving himself, she wouldn't train him until a certain trial was completed. The trial was that he needed to understand the purpose of his life and his place in it. So his mother after getting permission from the Tsuchikage, dropped him into the wilderness where he needed to find out that meaning or die by her hand, he thought she was kidding about this. She gave him two months and knocked him out placing him in the middle of said wilderness to fend for himself.
Maou had been hungry, cold, and lonely with this. He even cried due to the extremeness of conditions he suffered through, almost getting eaten by peculiar predators and creatures over two months. But through his hardships, his instincts awoke and also learned the true meaning of the world around him. That everything meant nothing, that the circle of life would still continue and that he was just another part of the world. His mother who he thought was gone, had one last test in mind. Moving to attack him, as she tried, she commented that she could easily kill him and would should he be as "weak-minded" as he had been. But was glad that he learned through his weakness and made it into his strength.
She decided to train him, after giving him a proper meal and one day of rest. After that day, it was more like hell for him. The first and most important thing she taught him, was that what he was trying to do was wrong. He fought more like a brawler than a fighter, never thinking through his moves or considering his opponents moves. Second, she taught him that she was a "technical striking" taijutsu fighter, one who focused on skill and sharpness rather than power and speed and that those two things would be relative to ability as he trained his abilities. He achieved momentous abilities as a result of his one year of training with his mother, deciding to keep training as he did with her even after he'd left.
After one year of training, he returned back to work as a genin and was age fifteen after the fact. He was immediately placed on a veteran team that had lost one of their comrades already. Even meeting with his old teammates who also commented on how "changed" he seemed. Far less full of himself, more playful, and much less selfish about his ideals. He showed this through multiple missions as well, placing his teammates above his own desires when needed, though he wasn't above telling his teammates he would take on strong adversaries when they showed.
Because of his spirit and drive, this would lead to a prominent nickname by one opponent who would finally enter him into one of the bingo books. "Immortal Challenger" which would also become a moniker that he would like and even hold over his teammates sometimes.
Time passed, and after learning how to properly work with his teammates after six months, he would be entered into the Chūnin exams. This would be the ultimate opportunity to test his strength against multiple shinobi, but what would happen wouldn't necessarily be to his liking.
Entering into the exams, it was a total surprise. Thanks to the obsessive training and skill he gained over the course of almost two years, he was one of the strongest applicants. Easily he blew through the competition with only a few giving him much trouble at all. Sadly boring him, he was easily awarded as a Chūnin by the end of the exams and congratulated by his mother. To his own sadness, he felt as though he didn't properly earn the exams because of the overwhelming strength wishing for someone who could prove a challenge to his abilities.
He would be rewarded for his efforts though, as he wished for stronger rivals, slowly as time marched forward in his life he would gain them. Especially after becoming a Chūnin he was considered a greater threat to others, considering his phenomenal skill as both a fighter and a potential threat in the future. Considering he wasn't a "master" yet, his future was still very bright and he focused on the goal of fighting as many strong opponents as he always did. Time had passed.
The lapse of this time would end with his nineteenth year. At eighteen he he had been with the second team he joined for four years as a Chūnin after his other teammates had gone into their own fields of study and training. They had developed bonds with one another, and with those bonds came strengthened threads towards what they wished to accomplish. They follow their hearts and the wishes of the Tsuchikage, and live to fulfill their lives.
COMBAT STATS
Paths of the Shinobi:
Primary: BODY Secondary: SOUL Weakest: MIND
Equipment:
Metal Knuckles - The weapons he uses to fight in combat, usually against opponents who also use weapons or ninjutsu in battle, he doesn't don them if he deems the opponent is too weak to need them, as he doesn't rely on killing others. These are basically brass knuckles with the exception of being made of steel instead. They greatly increase the impact of his strikes and can be used defensively to block weapons, too.
Steel-Bottomed Geta - For those unexpected times when an opponent has weapons aiming for his legs. He made these for just an occasion, as they are made to be capable of blocking weapons, as well as reinforcing his thrust kicks in battle. He takes them off if an opponent wishes to fight him with no weapons and through martial skills alone.
Special Abilities:
i. Hand-to-Hand Expert: Thanks to his training beginning at a young age, Maō has always been a proficient combatant in taijutsu. He was even capable of beating groups of bullies of his peers with an unpolished brawling like style, relying on what he gained from watching his mother. As he got older, and after he learned more about the world, he became even better at his fighting style and learned more about the different styles of the world from his mothers experiences. He also gained an understanding of what he should fight as, a "technical striker" someone who polishes their individual fighting skills to their utmost limit in combat instead of relying on the various traits gained by genes and the like.
Because of this Maō has gained a considerable ability as a combatant. His style is straightforward and easily seen-through, but thanks to his constant training is extremely sharp and powerful. As a striker, he attacks opponents with various punches and kicks to win battles, and is considered a specialist. He is also highly knowledgeable about various other styles of taijutsu combat too, capable of defining an opponents style even if he doesn't know its name considering its traits and skills instead. He is even knowledgeable about disarming opponents weapons quite easily too as well as using his "knuckles" to divert and counter opponents own strikes.
He is also a quick-study in a martial arts battle. Taking in an opponents techniques in combat and then trying to trace them, and understand them so that in future endeavors he can more easily counter them. For this, he calls himself an "Immortal Challenger" someone who never stops learning even if others would consider him at his "peak". In terms of style, he seems to use a variant of boxing skills and kicking skills, with the former being more apparent. He takes advantage of footwork and timing to catch his opponents off-guard.
In numerical terms, when against other skilled fighters of his generation, he would be a "9 out of 10" in terms of skill.
ii. Enhanced Physical Traits: Though Maō is a "technical-type" who focuses on skill and repetition, he also goes through a very advanced training regiment daily. Even before going through said regiment, the genes gained from two strong individuals such as his parents has given him great potential as a fighter. Through the constant molding and enthusiasm he has shown as a fighter, this has improved himself greatly allowing his training to become what makes him the fighter he is today. Because of this constant training, his body has never gotten sick from natural diseases and has always been very healthy.
Regardless, his abilities are incredible for someone of his generation, as he has a remarkable amount of physical strength, stamina, speed and endurance which is trained to be almost even among one another. This means that he doesn't specialize in any one attribute, but focuses on keeping each of them strong to allow no apparent weaknesses. This also means that he has no apparent strengths in terms of physical ability either when it comes to his ability as a taijutsu-specialized Chūnin. Thanks to being a "technical striker" the "speed and sharpness" of his strikes come from HOW he performs them as form is very important in his eyes, using precision and technique to bring an end to whatever battles he is in.
Some of the feats he has performed are, shattering stone with his bare fist, throwing things much larger than his bodily size would entail, moving quickly enough to be a blur and even disappearing in the eyes of lesser opponents, endure strong attacks as well as grievous wounds without dropping his form, and fighting for the entirety of a single day without dropping from over-exhaustion.
In numerical terms, when against other ability fighters using physical prowess of his generation, he would be a "8 out of 10" in terms of ability.
E-RANK Kinobori no Waza [Act of Tree Climbing] Kawarimi no Jutsu [Body Switch Skill] Nawanuke no Jutsu [Rope Untying Skill] Henge no Jutsu [Transformation Technique] Bunshin no Jutsu [Clone Skill] Kakuremino no Jutsu [Magic Cloak of Invisibility Skill]
“Get ready, muscle-boy, because I'm going to take you for all you've got. I won't go easy on you, buddy. I'm the grammar nazi from hell. *breaks out the whip* And I do it to look like a hardass, making you put all your tittles and strikes and interrobangs.
If five foot ten and onehundred seventy some-odd pounds is considered small for a guy of his age and size, and going by the musculature of your faceclaim, frankly I'm frightened to imagine what you would consider large.
Under personality: “Kind - Although Maou does like fighting, he is a fairly kind person who doesn't wish to kill anyone unless its the only step he can take after trying anything else.”
The word we're looking for is “everything.” In the next sentence we're looking for “worst.” Also, he sounds like the best friend ever.
“Emotional - Maou can be emotional not controlling his emotions well in desperate situations. “
Comma: “ Maou can be emotional, not...”
History: Honey dango... mmmm~
“To train him the same way she did. She commented on such dangers, and said that without first proving himself, she wouldn't train him until a certain trial was completed. The trial was that he needed to understand the purpose of his life and his place in it.”
Chūnin teams: There aren't actually teams for Chūnin. They're unteamed once ranking up. Our “team” would have been one that survived from genin-dom. XD
Jutsu: Either delete the filler text or put “N/A.” It's distracting to the eye when you want people to look at the jutsu you actually have there.
When you cross those t's and dot those i's, come back to me.”

While I personally think he's a little too light-weight for being a taijutsu specialist, Yuu has informed me otherwise. I don't have any other issues than questioning whether or not you really want that small amount of techniques to rely on? Then I start thinking well Taijutsu is extremely versatile sooo......
