After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
The world of Naruto is beautiful and full of loving characters however it's also filled with potentially dangerous opponents and obstacles that are naturally difficult to overcome. To give a more realistic feel to SDRP, we have come up with the Encounter System. Most writers should be familiar to this style of role-playing which can be found in various games such as Pokemon. Basically, the player character (PC) is pitted against a non-player character (NPC) for various spoils and rewards, allowing the user to grow ever stronger and progress in the world of Naruto.
Due to the fact SDRP is not a video-game, our battles will not be calculated by a movement formula. If the player feels a fight against an NPC would help further the plot in their thread, they simply need to contact one of our various staff members. From that point the process is simple. The staff member will roll two dice, one to determine the type of enemy and the other to determine the amount. Depending on the outcome, the characters in your thread will then be challenged by the specified NPCs. Should you defeat them, the reward is yours! Be warned, however, that death of your character is entirely possible.
Rewards come in two types which are pretty simple: experience and items. As long as you successfully win the battle against your opponent(s)--whether the NPC dies or retreats--you will recieve a cut of EXP. The amount depends on the opponents skill level, how many you were forced to fight and your overall ability to write.
The least amount of spoils will be handed out to the RPer who has made no attempt at quality posts throughout their fight; the highest will be given to those who have great quality. Keep in mind that this does not include how long your posts are but how much quality is packed into those posts. As for items, if you've managed to kill your opponent(s) you are free to loot whatever was on their corpse. If you do not defeat your opponent you will not receive and experience or loot at all.will be given to the player who has made no attempt at quality posts throughout their fight; the highest will be given to those who have great quality. Keep in mind that this does not include how long your posts are, but how well you write! As for items, if you've managed to kill your opponent(s) you are free to loot whatever was on their corpse. If you do not defeat your opponent you will not receive any EXP or loot.
I like the EXP idea, dunno about the loot part, people gon be stealin s ranked artifacts before they do the chunin exam and shit lol it's a good idea though, never seen it used before.
^ If anything just make basic things like kunai, blank scrolls, shuriken, small pieces of armor [gauntlets, shin guards, etc.] obtainable, at most people should find a B-Rank item whether it be a weapon or armour piece. I also think we should go with a DE or NDE rule, where DE players are always at risk of dying unless they specifically enter a NDE thread, whereas those who choose NDE will only be able to die if they purposely enter a dangerous situation. With the latter they should also be limited to what they can do since they picked out the "cheaper" route in the shinobi life.
I say the loots is kinda much. Just give them exp or money or whatever. They can use that to buy shit. I also like the DE / NDE stuff, however, I think those roles should be based on the type of character you're making. Like, Kage or other high ranking dudes would have to be DE
Peeps can go on missions, where NPCs run by mods will pop up and try to wreck their faces or whatnot (we can give mods exp as well, to encourage them to actually want to do it). Difficulty of mission determines amount of exp earned (we need to figure out the scale for this stuff too). Exp can be used to purcahse jutsu or equipment or whatever else we decide peeps can buy.
Players can also go DE or NDE in different threads. Here we remind players of the D-Bag rule' just because you CAN kill a character doesn't mean you should, especially if it's someones first dude on the board. This can just be added as an amendment to the board rules in place of the DE rules already there.
Also lets say that people earn.... 5 bucks per post. Jutsu costs is determined by path choice and rank, sooooo something like this. The numbers in brackets are the number of posts needed to reach that exact amount - though these might be off with how much modfying i've bee doing to this chart.
Secondary Path Techniques (considered the "normal" price) - Also same price for purchasing equipment of appropriate rank - Price to purchave new special ability (if approved) = cost of A-rank from appropriate path (=secondary if path n/a)
