After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Despite an affinity for water and an allegiance to Iwa, Mitsukae Obi has a fondness for her red shinobi uniform.
Personality
Aggressive and determined, Obi is fueled by a desire to prove herself and never lose face. She is an extremely prideful person with an endless supply of ambition and guts. She is competitive and unyielding - a potentially deadly combination that always leads her to chose the straightest path to victory. With that said, most days she is capable of taking a breath and slow things down just enough so that she can focus on victory. Not exactly a bull in a China shop, Obi is tactical when on her best behavior.
The young genin is constantly determined to be as big, as strong, as fast, and as smart as all those around her. This focus on intellect and physical prowess is precisely why she walks the bath of the soul last. She hates being embarrassed and operates on a short fuse. She is not against using violence to show her displeasure and enjoys punching most of all. She takes everything personally and is constantly on guard to defend her honor.
She is loud, proud, and more than a little childish despite an attempt at being older than she is. Obi tends to lean towards an understanding of masculinity as dominance, and shies away from softer personality traits and people. Confidence is her favorite word - second only, perhaps, to victory.
History
Mitsukae Obi is the ninth child of her family, and the only female. Born with eight older brothers and gifted with one younger brother a year after her birth, she and her mother were the only females in her direct family. From a young age she picked up on how she was treated differently than her brothers - from toys to clothes, games, to training - and it became clear to her that she was expected to be different. She grew instantly to resent this.
Fueled by a desire to impress her father, Mitsukae began pushing herself at an early age to hone what little skills she had. She avoided spending extra time with her mother and instead focused as much energy as possible as playing with her brothers and bonding with her father. From fishing to sports, she put effort in avoiding any activity that may be seen as feminine unless her brothers were also forced to participate.
Upon her acceptance into the Academy, Obi had an unusual sit down with the mother she had grown to find annoying. Over tea, her mother impressed on her how important the duties of a shinobi were, and how she had once walked the path herself. The mother impressed on her child how she was in every way a superior ninja to her future husband - Obi's father - but how she had given up her career to be the mother she always wanted to be. She expressed how she held no regret in such a motion, and hoped Mitsukae Obi would follow in her footsteps.
With mixed feelings and hesitation, the young girl began her training. Her fiery attitude and detest for all things pink helped her make friends with the boys and created an internalized resentment against the girls. She grew to hate being classified as a kunochi and did the best she could to show off during physical challenges. Despite her preference for getting physical, the girl's best tool is her brain. Devious and constantly aware of her own surroundings, Obi was identified as a potential Genjutsu user. Refusing to accept her own perceived passivity as an illusionist, the girl began to dedicate her development, as weak as it is, towards merging the physical and the mental. Though she struggles with most ninjitsu, she has nevertheless followed in her brother's footsteps (and mother's) by becoming a strong genin.

Special Abilities:
i. Intellectually Gifted: Obi has an innate talent for observation and reflection. She excels at details and is training her eye to pick up even the smallest of give-aways when encountering foes. Her memory is strong and still developing, allowing her to quickly recall information - jutsu, techniques, histories, etc. - from her studies.
ii. Chakra Control: Though young, Obi is well aware that her combat style is dynamic. Weaving between water, illusions, clones, and close quarters weapon combat, her survival depends on her ability to quickly shift from one branch to another. In this regard, she has begun to develop her talent for Chakra Control; her increasing mastery allows her to efficiently use the techniques she knows at peak performance and easily switch from genjutsu, taijutsu, and ninjitsu.
