After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.

"And it finds me. The fight inside is coursing through my veins. And it's raging. The fight inside is breaking me again." ~RED - Fight Inside~
The mid afternoon sun blazed high over the city of stone as a peculiar youth walked along the streets. The red head drew many to stare at his rough, bumpy skin. He didn't mind much. He was just as wary of them as they were of him. Still, it would help if someone would stop and talk to him. As much as he'd hate to admit it, he was lost.
He was told to go to the medical facilities for a preliminary examination, whatever the hell that was. The directions they gave him only got him so far, just enough to get him lost. Normally he didn't have trouble with navigation, but here everything looked exactly the same to him. There was too much brown and not enough green for his tastes, though that couldn't be helped.
The boy paused, looking around for his next path. He could continue going forward, turn off to the right, or go back the way he had came and try to find the Kage building again. He raised a hand to his head in frustration. Why did it have to be so difficult? The new genin made up his mind, turning to take the path on the right, and running smack into a stranger. That was strange, the people here usually kept their distance. He stumbled backward, falling to a sitting position.
Hitomi had been minding her own business, casually stalking a person that looked interesting, when someone ran into her. She surveyed the creature with a raised brow, noting his fiery hair and tattooed skin. Hm. He had cost her her prey, but perhaps he would be a suitable replacement. A mad grin slowly spread across her face as her gaze raked over him. Yes, he would do quite well.
"My, my... what a curious little creature you are," she murmured, stalking in a circle around him as if she were about to pounce. Hugging him from behind - making sure to pin his arms so he would have a more difficult time escaping - she nipped the top of his ear. "Are you a poor, lost little thing? Hitomi can help you... I promise~" Of course, her idea of 'helping' probably wasn't what he was looking for. She itched to take him home and do terrible things to him, just to see what would happen.
Tsuchikage-kun would disapprove, but he wasn't here, was he? What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.

The boy glanced up at the green haired woman as she looked him over. That strange grin of hers irked him. "I-I'm-" He started as she started circling him like a predator does its prey. Suddenly he found himself trapped by her arms. "H-hey!" Zain struggled against the uncomfortable embrace, turning his head away as he felt the warmth of her mouth on his ear.
At first glance the woman had seemed innocent enough in her sundress, but the boy had little doubts about her now. She reeked of danger, and the position he now found himself in wasn't very favorable. To him it seemed he had accidentally picked a fight with the wrong person, but then she did something very foreign to his expectations. She had offered to help him.
Nodding in response, the boy ceased his futile struggling. "I'm looking for the hospital." He told her, hoping she could take him there. He didn't exactly trust the woman, but hey, she was at least speaking to him. "And could you let go...?" The genin requested, getting as much space in between the two of them as was possible, even though it wouldn't be much. She was making him uncomfortable.
As he struggled, she constricted around him like a boa, even hissing into his ear for effect... Then promptly rubbing her cheek against his in an act of affection. Yeah, she was all kinds of crazy, something that the redhead would learn quite quickly.
"Maa, maa, genin-chan, of course Hitomi can show you where the hospital is~ If you don't mind taking a little detour with her first, that is~" Her response to his question was simple indeed: she snuggled up closer to him, showing that she had little intention of letting him go anytime soon.

Zain grunted and tensed as she squeezed him. When she brushed her cheek against his he turned away again. She was a confusing woman. First she pounces like a cat on the hunt, then she treats him as if she were nurturing a kit. At least she wasn't trying to eat him, and that made her a nice enough lady in his book.
The boy thought over her response for a few seconds, ceasing his pointless struggling. "I guess so..." Was his answer. He wondered what kind of detour it would be. It didn't really matter where they went first, after all he still needed to learn his way around. If he learned where a second place was as well, things would be easier in the future.
Grinning happily, Hitomi released the boy and grabbed his hand, dragging him not in the direction of the hospital, but towards her own home in the center of her clan district. It was outfitted well for the purpose it would be serving today. "Hitomi hopes you like visiting her home, uh... Redhead-kun, tell Hitomi your name~" she insisted, tugging him forward.
They arrived outside her door rather swiftly; Hitomi was both fast and impatient, and had dragged the boy pretty much the entire way. She opened the door and gestured for him to enter first, then followed after him. "Follow me, Redhead-kun~"

He was relieved at his sudden freedom. The genin barely had time to stand up before he was caught again by the lady's vice grip. As she pulled him along he heard not so nice whispers from passers-by. Naturally he would have went and said something to those rude people, but the woman was so intent on getting to their destination that he wound up being unable to do so.
"I'm Zain, miss Hitomi." The boy introduced himself at her request. He entered through the doorway and waited for her to take the lead. The boy was curious as to why she insisted on taking him to her home before the hospital. Whatever the reason was, he sure hoped it involved food. He was starting to feel a little hungry.
She heard their comments – the words of lesser beings trying to penetrate her mind – and she paid them no attention. Much was said around the village about the Konoe clan matriarch; a lot of it was true, if distorted. And a lot of it was outright false. No, she did not display the heads of her enemies on stakes in her yard. That would be a waste of both perfectly good heads and perfectly good stakes. So pitiful were mortal minds that they took their terror, exaggerated it, and terrified themselves even further. The fools.
“Hitomi is pleased to meat you, Zain-chan~” she purred, patting the back of a chair as an indication for him to sit. Since she was dragging the poor boy so far out of his way, she might as well make him at home before she delivered him to his destination. If, in fact, she did. “Does Zain-chan need refreshments?”

The message for him to sit in the chair was lost on him. He honestly had no idea what her patting on the furniture meant. He gave the woman a questioning look while stepping closer to it, never making the complete interpretation. The boy had also meant to ask about their reasons for being here since it would be best for him to arrive at the hospital sooner rather than later, but she distracted him with the notion of refreshments.
Still standing, Zain asked, "Do you have any rabbits?" The area seemed unlikely to have the small fur balls, but it couldn't hurt to ask. The flesh of a freshly killed hare was one of his favorite things to snack on. He found himself caught in a daydream about the last time he had one. Due to the reminiscence he couldn't help but drool a little.
Hitomi sighed and pulled the chair out. “Sit, Zain-chan.” The intelligence, or rather lack thereof, of lesser beings was astonishing at times. Had he really not the mental faculty to figure out that she wanted him to sit down? It almost made her want to let him loose, because a creature that stupid couldn’t possibly be entertaining. At the same time, however, she wanted to punish him for it. And there was nothing like a little blood to start off the day properly.
“Hitomi is afraid she doesn’t stock wild animals in her fridge, but she has meat.” The woman pulled out a package of cubed beef and showed it to Zain. “Is this alright, Zain-chan?”

Her command pulled him from his fantasy. He looked to the woman for a second before making sense of the words. Wiping the spit from his mouth the boy closed the rest of the distance to the chair and sat obediently. The look of disappointment that crossed his face when she said there wasn't any rabbits for him to snack on was mitigated by her counter offer. Instead he examined the package with curiosity.
"It's cold..." he frowned, poking one of the bloody cutlets. The frown was quickly reversed as an idea popped into his head. The genin swiped the meat and tore open the plastic that surrounded it. A small flame sparked in his hand as he held it above the snack. Just because it was cold, didn't mean he couldn't heat it up a little. While he waited for the beef to get warm, Zain looked back to the woman. "Why do you talk like that miss Hitomi?" He asked, tilting his head questioningly.
Well, of course it was cold. It had been in the refrigerator. "If you just leave meat sitting out, it spoils, Zain-chan," she informed him, still surprised by his complete and utter ignorance. "Hitomi prefers her meat fresh, too, but this isn't bad."
Well, at least he had enough semblance of intelligence to figure out that he could heat the meat up if he didn't want to eat it cold. The woman wasn't at all bothered by his digging into the raw, bloody meat; it was far more flavorful in this state than it was after it had been cooked, in her opinion at least. A little blood made everything taste better.
Hitomi cocked her head to the side. "Talk like what, Zain-chan?"

"Oh." He stated. Zain had never really come across any cold meat during his time in the wilderness for obvious reasons. The coldest meal he had ever had there was off of a rotting carcass that had been in the sun for a couple hours at most. Of course, he had gotten a terrible stomachache afterward. The cold meat had been something completely foreign to his experience.
As soon as the meat was warm enough to resemble a fresh kill Zain started eating, getting some of the juices on his face as he did so. "Well, you say your name a lot..." The boy replied, giving the woman an innocent, questioning glance. As he spoke small bits of meat had made their way around the area in front of him.
She just looked at him. "That's just the way Hitomi talks, Zain-chan." Always had, always would, most likely. Of course, she didn't do it all the time; the blue man whose bed she frequented found it obnoxious, so she tended to speak differently around at least him. But her speech patterns were so ingrained now that she couldn't just change them all the time.
Her eye twitched as flecks of meat and blood spattered across her table and onto the floor. "If Zain-chan keeps eating like a beast, he'll be scrubbing Hitomi's kitchen later," she warned him.

The boy swallowed and hesitated. Was there something wrong with how he ate? It never really mattered before. Then again, that was when no other people were around. He decided to slow down his pace for the last few chunks he had left. This kept his mess from spattering out in front of him, but it didn't stop the blood from running down his face and dripping from his chin to his clothing and the floor.
Being more careful as he spoke, the boy asked, "What did you need to do before we go to the hospital, miss Hitomi?" Truthfully he just wanted to get where he was originally going. If he could help, maybe she could take him there faster. If he couldn't, well, at least he got a free meal out of it.
