After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Standing at five foot two, Kashii would prefer to call himself “vertically challenged.” The funny thing about being short is that you're the only one allowed to make fun of yourself. Anyone else? Watch your throat. Soaking wet he weighs no more than 143lbs. Muscle is heavier than fat, and he is not in short supply. What he lacks in height he's made up for in building his physique. While he isn't a close-combat specialist, he doesn't like letting opponents think they have an advantage over him just because of his stature. His long hair is a cobalt blue, and when loose it reaches below the shoulder blades. However he rarely wears it loose; its almost always in a braid or ponytail when not at home. When going into combat, he ties it back properly so it doesn't get in his face. His eyes are a warm shade of gold like his mother's, but if one knew him better, they'd know just how icy cold his gaze can be. A trait that runs rampant in his family is pointed canines, which serve little more than aesthetics if you're not being bitten.
A change from his younger days, Kashii wears a long soft leather jacket, with the collar folded over. The sleeves can be rolled, and the inside from arms to hips is lined with holders for wire, kunai, shuriken, and senbon, as it he had always done. On his hands are black fingerless gloves, metal plates on the back of both bearing the Iwa symbol. The maroon headband is only worn on missions he expects combat on or force him to leave the country. When leaving on more official missions, he wears the standard one-sleeved uniform of Iwagakure. Pants are a dark blue, and close-toed flexible black shoes on his feet. At the side, rather than behind, of his right hip he keeps his hip pouch, and instead of a kunai holster on the right leg, he wears a holster for sealing scrolls on the left, holding up to four small scrolls and each containing extra projectiles. He once carried a wakizashi and a tanto, but with changing the way he fought, they resumed their place on the wall.

Personality
Kashii generally comes across as rather charming, to most people, cocky to others. He's also quite well-known for having a way with the ladies in a scandalous manner, but he's not generally interested in friends or steady romantic relationships on a whole. It's rare he has genuine interest in other people; politeness and one night stands is the most he normally bothers with.
Dedicated to his job, he obeys all orders without question, quite willing to endure injury and even put his life on the line to ensure he completes his assigned task. This dedication, however, hadn't earned him much praise because he's also quite willing to strike through his teammates to slay his target. Because of this most view him unreliable as a teammate, and his presence in a team is rarely welcome on missions, though none could say he doesn't get desired results, nor has he ever killed a teammate.
Despite this, most of his behavior is not driven by superiority or sociopathy, but instead an intense inferiority complex. He's unwilling to connect with others because he fears letting them down. Those few whom he does come to care for, however, are people he truly cherishes and would be willing to die for.
This leads to an interesting split in his behavior, between cocky but polite with the average person, laced with apparent overconfidence in the field, but completely submissive behavior when it comes to superiors. Likewise, in his personal life, his behavior around acquaintances tends to be rowdy and condescending. But when he's with those he truly cares for, his carefully established façade tends to crack, revealing emotions and insecurities he doesn't know how to handle, throwing him off-balance.
History
Ribbons and lace, beads and bows. Namame Tsuyaen may have not gotten the girl she'd always wanted, but she made due with the pretty-faced boy she'd procured instead. And for quite a while, that was fine. The father never interfered with his wife's tendencies; her trusted her judgment and would step in if things got out of hand.
He didn't need to however; when Kashii got old enough he himself had realized that little boys were not meant to dress that way, and without remorse he'd shredded the lacy nonsense. Of course, that was under the influence of his uncle, a man who would become an increasingly bad influence on the boy's life. Tsu loved her brother, she really did, so she'd been okay with leaving her child with him when she went away for missions.
Uncle Ika had been a terrible influence, perhaps the catalyst that had influenced the bad habits that Kashii carried with him to adulthood. He cursed, he drank, he slept around. While the young nephew was never quite privy to the goings-on directly, he wasn't stupid. By the time Kashii became a genin, he'd picked up that nasty habit of cursing as well. And the flirting. it had been fun in the later years of the academy, yes, but after graduating he turned it into a game. Unlike his uncle, he had no interest in finding love, only fun. That should have been the first sign.
Upon graduation, he was selected for an advanced learning course. When not learning with his genin cell, he was attending the Ito school, under the young teacher Ito Soyokaze. While the clan had no bloodline, the thing that set them apart was their excellent secondary school. Soyokaze made his normal sensei look like a child. She was strict, she was ruthless, and she liked to threaten their lives in order to teach them how to survive. Fear mingled with respect for all of her students, and above all, she was the woman Kashii valued most in his life.
When he was fourteen, already a Chūnin as many of the students under Soyokaze's tutelage had become, he met a girl. She was dirty, aggressive, and had no place to go. Like the games he enjoyed playing with any girl, he invited her into his home, a home he'd made for himself on the opposite side of the village from his parents. She'd turned from a playing piece to something he could consider a friend; despite the prickly armor she wore there was something about her that allowed him to keep her around. It wasn't like she had somewhere else to go, had someone else to depend on, hell she didn't even have family that cared.
Kashii's finest quality had always been his loyalty. It may have been deceiving, what with the way he acted when with the general public, but when with superiors, his kage especially, he was every bit a loyal hound of the militaristic country. Even at the cost of his health or his sanity, he almost never failed to complete a mission, regardless of the details. Once he started smiling at the prospect of killing, it should have been the second sign.
At sixteen, with his ever increasing success and seemingly blind loyalty, he'd become a Jōnin. This meant more dangerous missions, especially solo ones. He wore a smile when hunting his quarry, it was the best mask he could find to blot out the immense distaste for many of the jobs he accepted. But he always did them without remorse.
At seventeen, he'd been “blessed” with a genin team of his own. It was a startling announcement. They felt he needed a change of pace, it seemed. Despite him, and everyone else, thinking this idea was absolutely insane, he accepted the job, as he always had. He sought guidance from his teachers, Taiiga, whom was the Jōnin leader of his original genin cell, and Soyokaze, whom he respected the opinions of. Taiiga was skeptical but thought it would be interesting to watch. Soyokaze was more positive. She felt he could do it, so he needed to try.
His teaching methods were crude; he attempted to apply what he'd been taught from his own team sensei and Soyokaze-sensei to try and teach. But still in their first meeting, he'd set a trained dog on them to prove his point. Despite this, he'd eventually grown to like his kids, and somehow had trained them well enough to send them off. He didn't apply for a new team afterward, but since he'd accepted the role of Jōnin instructor, it would likely happen again at some point. At least he'd already gone through the trial-and-error stage.
At eighteen, his sensei, Soyokaze sensei, had sprung yet another intimidating surprise on him. The Ito clan was a dying clan, with only a handful of blood members remaining. He'd known that. As a patriarchal clan with no patriarch to maintain it, Soyokaze, whom was the stand-in, had passed that right on to him. Being the head of a dead clan meant a keepsake battle sword, a small, run-down estate that hadn't been lived in since before his birth, and privileges that he would never realize he had until later on when he decided to look into it.
At nineteen, Kinoe, the girl who stayed with him, whom he'd picked up off the street five years prior, admitted feelings for him. He'd known before then, but never took action. Knowing the girl wouldn't likely say anything on her own he'd never needed to but it happened anyway. As his only real friend and one of the people closest to him, Kashii accepted her feelings, though never quite returned them the way she would have liked him to. Not that she really knew that.<
She'd gotten pregnant and had attempted to hide it from him. Kashii had figured it out about five months in; his mother had born a younger brother not two years prior. But he wanted to wait for her to tell him herself. She seemed scared, always self conscious whenever his gaze fell to her abdomen. He'd been with her, and only her, since she'd admitted her feelings, but still there was fear. She knew a good amount of the secrets he kept, but there were many, many more she would have never understood, and those were what frightened her. Kashii never had the chance to hear Kinoe tell him. One night, six months into her pregnancy, he'd excused himself to leave on a summons to the kage's tower. The entire meeting took an hour at best, and a lot of things would change when he returned home.
They told him it was a suicide. There had been a lot more she'd never told him. The child she bore was unhealthy and undergrown, taken away to be healed at the Kusagakure hospital, one of the best medical facilities of the shinobi world. Who had made that arrangement, he'd never know, nor did he ever think to care. The fact was that the closest person he had had killed herself in the short time he'd left her alone, when he should have been there for her, and the child between them taken away. Poking around in the diary she kept (she wouldn't mind now, would she?) weeks after the occurrence led him to find out she planned to name the child Saiko.
To rid himself of the memories, he'd left his shabby home to take up residence in the empty estate he'd been handed, taking up a new hobby as a shabby repair man, taking leave from work to make the place livable. True, he would have lived just fine with the holes in the roof and some floorboards rotting through, but he felt he had an obligation to at least do this much. Eventually, he would have a healthy child he needed to bring into his home, and it was necessary that everything was in order. He needed to keep himself busy to keep the mother out of his mind.
The invitation to be an instructor again had arisen during this period. Although he accepted it, he'd set up an impossible task for the students to complete, to see if they were fit to be students or should be sent back to the academy. Even though two of them seemingly passed, he came up with a reason to fail all three (they shouldn't have left their comrade behind. It takes all three to complete the mission.) It was a loophole he'd been willing to take; to follow his orders and still discreetly decline the job.
He was twenty-one when the child, having more problems than initially thought, would come home safely and healthy. An acquaintance he'd made in the hospital ensured he knew eeeeverything he needed to know, and he was both glad to have her gone but at the same time sad to see her go. Kashii didn't feel he had the right to do it on his own. Not with the guilt he had towards Kinoe, as if it had been his fault that she'd been afraid to tell him, his fault that she'd killed herself. For all he knew, for all anyone knew, it had been. He should have read the diary further, but it didn't exist any longer.
Opting to take a different route, he chose again to attempt to become an instructor instead. It was a somewhat safer direction to keep himself in. It kept him within the village more often, and busy doing something positive. It wouldn't stop the nightmares that plagued his nights, but at least it wouldn't add new ones to the mix. As it was, continuing work as he used to proved difficult. With a child to come home to, he didn't have to option to sit alone and lick his wounds like a beaten cur as he had before. He had to be more careful, not for himself, but for the girl. A change in fighting style helped take away that dangerous way he fought. It wasn't as if he had never fought ranged; it was what he was most skilled at, aside from laying traps. It was a matter of usually choosing to fight recklessly. Pain kept him in line; it reminded him just why he was supposed to hate his enemy. But that needed to change, and working with children again would hopefully keep himself in line.

[/ul][/font][/blockquote] Special Abilities:
i. Intellectually Gifted: Despite all appearances, Kashii has always been excellent in laying traps made of wire, as well as taking into account his teammates' abilities and thinking of a strategy even if he wasn't team captain, as well as a contingency plan if that didn't work out. He is able to think on the spot, and while the idea may not be the best option to solve the problem, it usually works.
ii. Ranged Weapon Fighting: Above all else, Kashii has specialized in ranged fighting with thrown kunai attached to razor wire. Usually he doesn't aim to hit the target but instead the object behind them, embedding it. Either holding his end tight or attaching it to something at his position, he can lay traps while in combat, though at times he lays these traps while dodging. The wire is very thin and difficult to see if one doesn't know it's there. For direct attacks aimed at the enemy he uses shuriken attached to the wire, the weight still bringing it where he wants to go with all the cutting force of the shuriken and the wire. While the trap alone can be somewhat avoided, Kashii generally sends lightning chakra down the wires with the metal conducting it, zapping whoever is close to it. If the enemy is trapped when this occurs there's a chance of electrocution.
iii. Summoning Contract: Contracted to the mogura, or moles, Kashii generally uses the molerat most, occaisonally bringing out the louder Jitters. A spelunking adventure when he was young led to the discovery of the moles, and signing a blood contract bound the moles to him. While there are other moles in the summoning race, Kashii can only summon Rufus and Jitters.
iv. Speed: While Kashii can hold his own in a fistfight, larger taijutsu specialists and grappling is easily his downfall. Instead, he relies on his speed and agility to avoid the enemy getting a grab on him. Having a small body assists that agility and because of the foorwork required to move, he has strong legs and uses kicking taijutsu.[/blockquote]
