After the Fourth Great Shinobi World War ended, the world was experiencing a time of peace. The villages for once were able to live in relative harmony with one another as they rebuilt, and for once, all seemed to be well. The kage were able to live peaceful lives and soon began retiring, passing on the baton to the next generations. That is until an unknown virus infects the northern coast. The first to fall is the once powerful Raikage, Ay. While many thought this virus was a simple mutation of what may have well been the flu, no one would ever think of the destruction it would cause. Especially when it infected a certain Uzumaki Naruto.
With his death came the malice; with the malice came the destruction; with the destruction came the shinobi' revolt; and with the revolt came the sacrifices. The Bijuu became filled with malice that they sought to destroy the world. Shinobi sought a way to fight them and once again capture each of the Bijuu. Time passed, and a plan was devised. The Jinchuuriki would be sacrificed for the greater good of the world, and with the deaths of nine individuals, an uneasy peace began.
As time continued, the villages began to truly restructure. In a peace that would last 80 years after the downfall of the Bijuu, the world would see the creation of a great many things. Technology was beginning to take root and before long the blossoms that grew from the tree of the advanced mind would bear fruit. A many great things came to be. A railroad between the vast many nations. Mechanical limbs to replace lost ones. Radios that could reach between villages. Everything seemed to be becoming less reliant on the shinobi. Only the need for them never truly vanished. As with the growth of time, also continued the growth of malice.
Amaya yawned and groaned all in one specific motion. She felt something beginning to peck against her head and decided it'd be best to stop whatever it was. With an annoyed wave of her hand, the uchiha sent the intruder packing. There was a flapping of wings as the bird that had landed on her flew off and away, leaving its perch. She sat up on the tree branch, yawning once more and looking around. Amaya had spent the night on the branch, as many a night she did and her 'parents' knew she was prone to sleeping out in the open, and were ok with it.
Not seeing them yet, She pulled a small apple out of her bag, one that she had purchased the previous night and bit into it. 'Might as well get breakfast in before they show up.' Was the thought passing through her mind as she ate the apple. She hated fruits and vegies, but couldn't deny their handiness as a snack that wouldn't mess with her performance. This was the place she was to meet her teammate, her sensei leaving instructions for them to meet here. she didn't know who they'd be or if she'd know them, but today would hopefully be an interesting one.

Inori sat at the table in her household kitchen, finishing up her breakfast of granola and fruit, tapping a small card on the wooden surface. Shikashu-sensei had apparently pinned it to the door with a kunai the day before. Her father had discovered it first, and handed it to the blonde as soon as she walked in. Apparently, he wanted her to meet with one of her new teammates. Probably to see if they would get along or if the girl would veto it and beat up whoever it was. Not that that had ever happened or anything.
She arrived at the specified site at precisely the time that had been scrawled on the card, offering a wave and a nod to the person in the tree whose gender she couldn't quite be sure of. "Name's Inori. Yours?"
It was easy to tell that the blonde wasn't exactly a morning person. Indeed, she was rather grumpy, and not in the mood for much conversation. She didn't care for making friends, either; so long as she didn't want to choke her teammates out, that was good enough. She didn't need to be all buddy-buddy with them. Unfortunately, most of them didn't quite grasp that.
Amaya saw the new person and smiled. "Oh! You must be my new team mate!" she said, tossing the apple core away. She seemed cheery enough and upbeat enough, but when she went to get out of the tree, the girl fell out of it and towards the ground. The way she had fallen caused her to head face first and to faceplant into the dirt. However, the uchiha twitched for a few seconds, then stood up and dusted herself off. From the fall, her team mate would have been able to see the symbol on her back and deduce she was an uchiha.
Amaya walked up and gave a small wave. "I'm Amaya, pleased to meet you Inori." she said, a smile adorning her face despite the red scuffed area from where she face planted. She seemed to be content and prideful, happy to be alive.

Inori watched in silent disbelief as the girl proceeded to fall out of the tree and land flat on her face. Sheesh. What kind of shinobi didn't have the reflexes to land on their feet? Not that many would even fall out of a tree like a little kid in the first place.
The Uchiha symbol on the girl's jacket made her groan internally. Oh, great. If she was anything like the typical member of that clan, she and Inori were going to butt heads endlessly. She wouldn't take any of their 'mightier than though because I have fancy eyes' bullshit, and if this Amaya tried it on her, she would learn that Inori wasn't the type to bow and scrape to a last name.
"Nice to meet you too," she replied gruffly. "I guess we should try to get to know each other or something. I'm guessing that's why sensei wanted us to meet like this."
"Yeah, I kinda figured that's why sensei wanted us to meet as well." She replied. "The letter didn't state anything about explicitly staying here, but I guess it can let us work on our combat teamwork if you want to later." She said scratching the back of her head through her raised hood.
"Well, I know falling out of a tree doesn't leave the greatest or most confident impression, but I perform better in actual missions and real shinobi skill tests." Amaya commented. "Can't even hit the target while throwing shurikens and kunai from a line, but I can do all sorts of movements and acrobatics and get bullseyes from a number of meters away." She explained. The Uchiha seemed humble and rather friendly compared to their preceding reputation.
This was when Amaya got serious and looked at her team mate. "And I gotta say, thanks for not rolling your eyes and scoffing at the mention of my clan's name... So many people assume things about me and give me weird looks and avoid me cause of it. It's nice to have someone not doing that." Amaya said with a soft and warm smile.

The blonde raised a brow as Amaya described some of her abilities. Unable to hit a target in a straight line, but able to do so whilst doing acrobatic tricks and whatnot? Odd, but not unheard of. Hey, it was better than she can do.
"So, what are you good at? Nin, tai, gen, something else?" Inori inquired. That was more important information than, for example, her favorite color or her dreams for the future. "I'm a mix of genjutsu and ninjutsu. I'm pretty good with my clan's hiden, and I'm a chakra sensor. Taijutsu and weapons really aren't my thing at all, though." That was a very brief overview. If the girl wanted more detail, she could ask.
"Hey, I couldn't give two shits what your family name is. Doesn't matter where you come from. What matters is what you do with it. And you don't really seem like an asshole, so I figure we'll get along just fine."
Amaya giggled a bit at the last part of what Inori said. "Well, i appreciate that and hope we do get along. After all, actions do speak louder than words." She said and took a few steps back, giving some room. "I am focused in my ninjutsu, but i do dabble in genjutsu. I've been looking for ways to try and get around my deficit in taijutsu, but i can't do much to cover my weaknesses with my fire style. Hopefully, when i find out what my second release is, i'll be able to use it to give my taijutsu a bit more kick beyond what my sharingan give me." She explaied, shoving her hands into the pockets in the hoodie.
"So, what do you wanna do? continue talking some more, or maybe train or spar a little?" The uchiha asked her, happy to be out in the open and becoming friendly with her team mate.

A grin was plastered on his face as he watched the on goings from the shadows just beyond the treeline. He leaned against the trunk of a large robust tree with his arms folded across his chest. A light breeze flew past him, lightly tossing his crimson lochs but failing to budge his hefty sleeveless long coat that laid draped over his shoulders. His hazel eyes remained unwavering on the two genin as they interacted with one another in the clearing where he had told the two of them to meet.
As of right now these two young ladies were the only members of what would have normal been a three-man cell comprised of two young lads and one lass. He reached one hand up to his neck and took a moment to silently crack it as the two continued on in their conversation. However as Amaya asked Inori what she wanted to do, he decided it was best to finally reveal his presence to the two ladies. "So nice to see you two getting along," he appeared to them in an non-violent explosion of smoke using the shunshin no jutsu to appear as though out of thin air. "I figured having you two meet in a more non formal setting might be better than simply throwing you at one another and being like, 'This is the person who's hands you're putting your life in'."
He looked from the bald uchiha girl to the yamanaka girl, "Alright ladies, I believe it's finally time for us to have our first training session. First off though, as you two likely are aware, I am Nara Shikashu, your team leader until the day death rains down upon us," he jabbed a thumb at his own chest before lowering his right hand down to his side with his left hand on his hip. "You two are currently the only members of Team One, therefore I expect you to be flexible given any scenario thrown at us. Right now our team can become one of two things. The sword that pierces the heavens, or the shield that wards of evil. What we become not only depends on the abilities of our fourth member-to-be but the way you two work as well." He paused for a moment before folding his arms across his chest. "What our team becomes is entirely up to you and your abilities. Now then... Any questions?"

"Sensei's a taijutsu guy, for the most part. I'm sure we'll both improve a lot through working with him," Inori pointed out. Since the Yamanaka and the Nara were close, the girl had known their fiery-haired sensei for quite a while, although they had never really spoken all that much.
Speak of the redheaded devil and he shall appear, she supposed, as the man himself appeared before she could answer Amaya's question. And of course, he had to talk and talk and talk. "Nah, I don't have any questions, sensei. I just want to get to the training."
"Ummm... gimme a minute." the Uchiha said and looked at the ground, rubbing the top of her head. She gave here eyes a soft rub then yawned before shrugging. "Then i guess what do you expect out of us as our Sensei? not the usual try hard and succeed, but given what you know, what do you expect of us on a personal level?" she asked, looking back up at him. "Other than that, nothing." she said, giving a soft smile and a nod to let her teacher know she was ok with whatever he had to say.
"What do I expect?" Shikashu paused in thought for a brief moment before a completely serious look overtook his features, "I expect you to never leave your comrades behind. No matter what." He turned to look out towards the forest around them before looking back to the two genin, "In this world many things will be thrown at you. Some good, and most horribly bad. I expect you two, as my students, to persevere, take what comes at you, and give it back ten fold."
Shikashu looked out towards the forest again before bringing up two fingers to his lips and letting out a shrill and loud whistle. Before long a white brindle Akita came dashing out of the woods as though bounding through the trees like a proper shinobi. She came to a halt next to her master before sitting back on her haunches and looking up at him. "Shi-san, I thought you said I was going to wait in the forest," she asked him in what sounded like a surprisingly womanly voice despite there being a slight growling tone to it. Shikashu brought down one of his large hands to ruffle the fur on top of the Akita's head which rested at his hip. "Sorry Shiro, but I have something else to ask of you." Shiro, as was the Akita's name, looked from Shikashu to the two genin and back. "I don't know.... I didn't exactly like the last one either Shi-san." Shikashu knelt down next to her at that point and untethered a red cloth from around her foreleg. "Come on," he whispered, "I just need you to test them." Shiro let out a sigh, "Alright... But there better be no creeps involved," Shikashu laughed,"Don't worry they're not Aburame." Shikashu then looked at the girls, "You better get ready, because once Shirokage is ready, she won't hold back." Almost as if to emphasize his meaning Shirokage stood at ready now and looked almost as though she were ready to tear into their flesh. "Your objective, land a hit on Shirokage. Your time limit, dusk. Your boundaries, these training grounds, including all of the forest area within the fence. Understood?"
Shikashu told the girls what he expected of them, "to take what comes at them and give it back ten fold!" Afterwards he then promptly calls for his partner who is set and ready to take the girls on in an impromptu sparring match.

Inori was of the opinion that her sensei really loved to hear his own voice, and that was why he monologued so frequently. Sheesh. She was already tired of hearing him talk. At last, he assigned them a task. Land a hit on the ninken before dusk. If Amaya had a brain in her head and was willing to work together, they should be able to do it.
Immediately, Inori snagged the other girl by her arm and dragged her away from the Nara and his dog. If they heard her plan, well, it wouldn't exactly work, now would it? "Listen to me," she murmured quietly. "Here's the easiest way to do this. Engage Shiro. I don't expect you to hit her or anything, but keep her distracted. And in one place. Make enough of a show that I can slip out of sight. Then I can sneak up from behind, catch her in my Shintenshin, and you can land the hit. Got it?"
Amaya nodded, she didn't like flat out being told what to do, but there wasn't much of a choice, so she went along with it. "Your plan fails, we move onto mine. But i do have faith in your planning abilities, so i'll keep that dog plenty distracted. see yah on the flip side." she said with a two finger salute from her forehead, pulling her hand free and letting her squad mate run off and ahead. She meanwhile turned around and began to circle halfway around the original clearing.
This is when she emerged from the bushes. "God damn she's bossy as hell....." she said outloud then looked back at the dog. "Right, so we're supposed to hit you?" she said cracking her neck and getting into a classic kung fu pose. She motioned for the dog to come at her with her fingers. "Well, bring it, i don't need miss bitchy to take care of some little pup like you." Amaya said and got ready to dodge.

When the girls parted, Shikashu looked down to Shirokage, "You know what to do partner." With that he vanished into what appeared to be thin air as leaves fell from the place he formerly stood. He didn't leave the area, but rather took up post a distance away and up out of the way so he could survey the scene. More accurately he was about twenty meters to the west standing perfectly balanced on top of a tall ass pole, but the details weren't exactly all that important now were they?
Shirokage huffed a sigh and shook out her fur before falling deathly silent and motionless. She was listening for the slightest sounds in the area around her and waiting. There was no way she would allow these genin to earn an easy score on her, especially since Shikashu was depending on her. Still she wondered, would these two even be able to come close to scoring on her? They didn't look too much like they were team material, in fact, they appeared to be far from it. Perhaps that was what Shikashu meant to work on with this exercise. Yes. That had to be it.
When the noisy Uchiha stepped out of the thicket, Shirokage was quick to turn to view her. She didn't yet move from her spot, but it was obvious by the Uchiha's words that she didn't intend to play the role of supporting teammate. Or so it appeared anyway. "You will regret those words by the end of this day." Spreading her legs apart and lowering her form she looked actually somewhat intimidating now as a growl formed deep within her throat. She looked at though she were ready to tear into Amaya, but rather than physically attack her, the dog instead chose to leap up high into the air before dive bombing the ground where Amaya stood. If she hit the genin, it would likely have the same effect as a powerful tackle, however if she missed she would immediately burrow into the ground using her doton capabilities causing shards of rock to fly everywhere.

Inori rolled her eyes as the younger girl turned and ran off. The blonde carefully crept off into the woods, mapping out a roundabout path in her mind. She could still hear Amaya from her position, and sighed when she heard the girl refer to her as a bitch. What a pleasant teammate. Inori was definitely going to enjoy having to put up with her for training every day. She couldn’t wait to get a third genin on their squad – hopefully one that would mitigate the annoyance that was the young Uchiha.
She carefully climbed up to a high branch of a tree where she could survey the scene but remain (probably) unseen by the girl and the dog below, cloaked in foliage. If all went according to plan, and Amaya was a good enough distraction, Inori would be able to slip from the tree back down to the ground, use one of her basic doton jutsu while out of sight, and pop up behind Shirokage – close enough that her Shintenshin might be able to take effect before Shiro noticed her. The plan really relied on Amaya doing her job well… Pity she didn’t have as much faith in the Uchiha as the girl claimed to have in her.
